Who would you like to see come out as GC?

There are a few outspoken women, who I secretly daydream they’re GC. Top of my list would be Oprah. I’d be thrilled if she was a closet GCer. She would shut up all those people who spout crap like “TWAW just like black women are women” and other guff. But in reality, I doubt this will happen.

Also on my list, in no particular order is
Jenner Lawrence, Sharon Horton (I know she’s friends with Aisling Bea so it’s unlikely), Meryl Streep. I’ll add a few more names when I remember.

I think Carrie Fisher would have been GC, she was very smart and understood the issues women face.

And Victoria Wood too, who had a good handle on how size and class issues impacted woman (I miss VW, so incredibly talented).

Who would you love to see talk out about this?

Definitely Keir Starmer and all the others in the Labour parliamentary party who are keeping quiet - I do think that will happen.

WillPowerLite · 05/10/2022 18:36

Yeah, Starmer.

Igmum · 05/10/2022 18:39

Can I ask for everybody? Feeling a bit totalitarian here but frankly I would like everybody to have sensible, balanced, GC views. Tolerant but observant of others' rights. Thank you.

I briefly got Mary Beard muddled up with Mary Berry. I was confused as to what impact a food critic would make to the GC arena. But hey, all help welcome.

Any of the lionesses as they face the prospect of the German team allowing male players.
Clare Balding would be good, Emma Barnet, Kirsty Wark, and Beyoncé for the kids.

picklemewalnuts · 05/10/2022 18:41

Notably-

Sharon Horgan did write Motherland with Glinner, so I live in hope she knows what's what. Like Brian Cox she has close contacts on both sides (his awesome wife Gia on one side and Robin Ince on the other). Like to think we've got the prof on ours Grin

I sometimes wonder how Julie Hesmondhalgh (Hayley Cropper) really feels

GingerCake2018 · 05/10/2022 18:45

Meghan Markle, internationally high profile, already hated by many, it would be hilarious, imagine the media pile on.

Cuck00soup · 05/10/2022 18:47

Just remembered a couple more people.

Victoria Corey Mitchell seems really sharp, surely she’d be GC. Hilary Clinton too, if it’s not too much to ask.

picklemewalnuts · 05/10/2022 18:42

And of course Jenny Murray!

Jenni Murray has been gender critical for a long time. That's why she had to leave woman's hour

OnTheBrinkOfChange · 05/10/2022 18:58

The thing is, I don't think very many people actually do believe it. I know there are young people who will rant and rave and want to argue with middle-aged women, but anyone over the age of size 35 can't possibly believe that men are women.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 05/10/2022 19:01
