They may be starting to get the message.

Sometimes the answer to wanting other people's rights taken away from them for validation purposes is 'no'. Sometimes what is wanted is not fair or acceptable.

Hearing 'no' is not going to harm anyone. Other people have rights too. This is a reality that everyone in society has to learn to deal with. No exceptions.

This is so true. I think this is where a lot of rage on the TRA side is coming from. They are not used to hearing the word no. Why is a males right to validation of more importance than a females right to comfort, safety and dignity?

But the point is, that’s not happening, is it?

Theyre not being told ‘no’.

They’re being pandered to, and if we have an issue with it, we’re hateful, bigoted TERFS, committing literal violence against them.

ImherewithBoudica · 03/10/2022 20:47

We've got this far. Women deserve their own spaces. Words. Identities. Not to revolve entirely around the therapeutic needs of a group of male people.

This is what I want and will stand up for: the return of boundaries and the word no. I am very happy for TQ+ political lobby activists to have all the spaces and resources and support they need to meet their needs and ensure their equality. But this cannot involve subordinating or removing rights and equality of provision from any other group.

They cannot take what they want and need by depriving any other group. That is not something any society should tolerate. It's not morally acceptable.

Binglebong · 03/10/2022 20:50

Sorry to hijack but have you been link to explain this? . There are brands out there who are deliberately designing for mens bodies not womens (h and m for starters) Sorry to go off topic. An excellent post btw.

Spirogyra · 03/10/2022 20:58

Following the link and reading the Primark website it seems obviouis to me that it includes trans women, as the wording used is 'all women'. "The women-only area is for all women, and customers are not required to provide identificiation."

Spirogyra · 03/10/2022 21:00

Oops, several extra i's in there!

Several extra eyes in the Primark changing room if they have their way... (Apologies in advance for that one!)

virginrivieras · 04/10/2022 10:28

@TheBiologyStupid Grim but true sadly.

The days of being able to send your kids to the loos/changing rooms by themselves are sadly now gone.

DD loves Primark but there are plenty of other shops that also appeal to her - though I wouldn’t let her go shopping without adult supervision now, it’s just unsafe 😥Primark isn’t the only shop letting undesirables into previously safe spaces.

According to this Daily Mail story the "female-only facilities" are only for those identifying as women:

www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11278931/amp/Primark-reintroduces-women-changing-rooms-huge-backlash-gender-neutral-cubicles.html

Helleofabore · 04/10/2022 20:29

The move comes as another woman today revealed how a man 'burst in on her' while she was trying on clothes in a unisex cubicle at the store in Stoke-on-Trent.

So, yet another woman ‘burst in on’ today.

Helleofabore · 04/10/2022 20:32

Sorry. A ‘fresh report’ today. Not that it happened today.

ControversialOpening · 04/10/2022 20:57

Primary are still trying to get away with it. It’s still mixed sex if it allows those who ‘identify as women’ - as anyone can identify as a woman it means the changing area is open to everyone.

Yup. They’re expecting us not to notice this….. weaselling gits.

ImherewithBoudica · 04/10/2022 21:07

But the genie is out of the bottle that there are males who will determinedly go into female only areas and who are likely to kick off at female staff if they encounter any boundaries that protect and respect females. This is now an entitlement, there's online support and social media where male people egg each other on and remind each other this is their right and that females who say no are dehumanised scum who don't matter. Mr Izzard is helping considerably in making this socially appropriate as a celebrity, using his power for good. And we've all seen the footage of a large, angry male screaming 'call me ma'am' into the face of a frightened shop assistant.

There is in reality no way to send staff to deal with this behaviour. It isn't safe to.

Which in effect means that female exclusion is successfully achieved and will be until the government stands up and makes it very clear that no male may enter specifically female only spaces, and that male choice and preference of provision is not more important than female access to anything at all. And that male people who believe it is are behaving in a way that will not be tolerated.

So still a no go area for females concerned about safety and dignity.

Primark are liars it seems

Yes, been following that. They're just making things even worse.

Aren't they just.

ImherewithBoudica · 05/10/2022 18:22

A men's, a women's and a unisex.

Gosh. Three spaces for males, none at all for many females.

Binglebong · 05/10/2022 18:25

Bbc are reporting this. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cambridgeshire-63150281

So the majority of changing will still be obviously mixed sex (while the women's will be sneakily mixed sex). I think we all need to go in and ask to change in the female one, show that it is popular and required. And then be very vocal if there are any males in there.

They need security guards at changing rooms, not shop assistants, because this is going to kick off.

Handyweatherstation · 05/10/2022 18:31

I hope it does kick off because it bloody well needs to.

Live4weekend · 05/10/2022 18:39

This is less safe than gender neutral changing rooms.

In Primark I would use them over female changing rooms (although I won't use either).

But at least in gender neutral you have a chance of a decent man being there.

Amy male born person using the female changing rooms is a massive red flag.

Goodoldvera · 05/10/2022 18:46

Kick off really?? The new option is women only and mixed. If a person is a trans woman and wants to use the women only changing space the staff member is not allowed to challenge, but a manager can if doubt exists, how often is this going to be a problem??? All men, women ( pervs) and other liberal people can use the mixed fitting rooms behind a curtain and just get on with life, being out on the street on a usual weekend will toughen them up

MrJi · 05/10/2022 18:54

nauticant · 30/09/2022 17:24

I wonder what they mean by "women"? Plenty of people are asking them on twitter but not getting any response:

twitter.com/Primark/status/1575829043315892225

Yes. “All women” …. No identification needed ? Since whe have women needed id to prove that they are female ?

Or not use the fitting rooms, but take advantage of the 28 day returns policy to try on at home instead, there will be more who take advantage of that..wear clothes and return meaning others will unwittingly buy 2nd hand clothes...tres skanky
