You are traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination.

Kick off really?? The new option is women only and mixed. If a person is a trans woman and wants to use the women only changing space the staff member is not allowed to challenge, but a manager can if doubt exists, how often is this going to be a problem??? All men, women ( pervs) and other liberal people can use the mixed fitting rooms behind a curtain and just get on with life, being out on the street on a usual weekend will toughen them up

There are unfortunately too many males claiming the right to use a female change, whether because they are trans, non binary or something else. If a shop assistant tries to stop them then yes, they will kick off. We know this because we have seen this - it's what got us in this mess

How many though? and how many of those are doing something to harm anyone? Meanwhile in Thailand tots have been gunned down and killed. Women feeling unsafe walking the street at night is one thing, it really shouldn't be the case, but emancipated women taking money off weak men on only fans is another. Primark has acted, I think it's unlikely a female will be physically harmed by a 'male' trying on a pair of trousers in the next cubicle..let alone a male trying on a dress and declaring to be female..live and let live or just avoid the fitting room if it you feel so vulnerable in a social/public situation. Everywhere you go you will encounter 'people' and their foibles...unless you stay home of course

@Goodoldvera

Yes it would seem reasonable if your assumption is that women are actually concerned about just the presence on a man on the other side of an mdf wall with a flimsy curtain.

The Robles though is that what has been EVIDENCED is that SOME men place cameras/phones under the curtain or over the mdf wall. SOME men see a closed curtain and choose to open it exposing the undressed woman behind the curtain to everyone in the changing room. SOME men choose to undress, expose their genitals and leave the curtain open flashing all the women who are in the women's changing room.

These men have been told they can have access to the women's changing room by uttering the magic words 'I identify as a woman'. They do not have to 'present' as a women, they just need to say those 5 words if questioned.

This is less safe than gender neutral changing rooms.

In Primark I would use them over female changing rooms (although I won't use either).

But at least in gender neutral you have a chance of a decent man being there.

Amy male born person using the female changing rooms is a massive red flag.

I think some people are overly scared, anyone who looks overtly manly and declaring himself a woman is going to be watched by staff...I've seen women with moustaches it comes with age and hormonal problems also...hence the gender neutral fitting room that means nobody should be judged on appearance..whatever the reason! Men get up to stuff with other men and leave traces...and women piss shit and leave sanitary products behind them, these are reasons to avoid fitting rooms as a customer, but staff have to deal with. Attacks are rare though

I'm not scared. I am angry. Men are not women. Prmark are gaslighting us.

You're surely not saying suggesting that women with facial hair are no longer able to use women's changing rooms?

I have never heard of this from my colleagues on the fitting room in the store I work in, we see a lot! Head office have taken note of recent reports and acted...people still have choices not to try on in the fitting room provided, and use elsewhere, or at home and return within 4 weeks. I live in a liberal town where being LGBT is normal and celebrated (I'm straight) I don't feel threatened by them, some work in roles that would save my life..the few criminals that are up to no good shouldn't cloud your judgement...a man claiming to be a woman is going to draw attention if they insist on using a woman only space..no judgement is permitted but they will be noticed and a watchful eye will be given. It will be a pretty rare occasion and because of this pretty safe

Johnnysgirl · 07/10/2022 18:34

And again, we have the "If you don't like men in women only spaces, stay home" Confused
No. Fuck off and speak for yourself.

A woman with a moustache is a woman with a moustache. I don't really get your point here ? Women with moustaches are no less womanly than women without moustaches.

Not in the slightest, but the hysteria on this board makes me wonder!! I reckon some trans women have less facial hair then some born females...people are emphasising trans women and not trans men..judging someone's morals and changing room etiquette by their appearance is just wrong. People have mentioned Muslim women and their rights, but some still cover their faces..where does that leave us?

Unless they are judged as trans or a man by a woman who objects to their appearance in a woman only fitting room...this is the irony.

Live4weekend · 07/10/2022 18:41

Goodoldvera it really says a lot about you that you would even suggest that a woman with facial hair was less womanly than other women.

I don't know if you are male or female but comments like that just reek of a hatred for women.

I've seen a lot of women with facial hair/fuzz from menopause etc. Guess what? They are still recognisable as women. Men are usually taller, square jaw, different gait, different sized hands, broad shoulders, etc etc etc. So don't start that bs with the whatabout women with facial hair. We can always tell.

I am a woman...a Primark employee and have more of a tache then I ever had before..what I'm advocating is a bit of trust in humanity and the LGBT community as a whole. There will always be rotten apples

Johnnysgirl · 07/10/2022 18:48

people are emphasising trans women and not trans men
Do you really not understand why, in the context of who should be allowed in female spaces?
That one of those groups is female and the other is male? Clearly your notion of which is which is the polar opposite of most people's mine.

Rubbish

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 07/10/2022 18:49

People are emphasising Trans women not trans men because the vast majority of sexual crimes are committed by men and these changes to women's spaces are permitting the presence of men.

Those men being permitted might be transwomen who as evidenced by prison statistics continue to commit crimes inline with male patterns not female patters. Those men may 'just' be perverted men who see a loophole they can easily exploit.

What we know for sure is that the male bodied people who are sexual deviants haven't reduced their propensity for being perverts and abusing women so the reasons for having sex segregated spaces haven't gone away. All that has changed is that apparently some companies and government officials are willing to accept the increased risk of women being harmed by allowing them into those spaces because apparently a few women being sexually assaulted isn't as big a deal as hurting a trans persons feelings by correctly identifying their biological sex.

And I am a mother of a young girl.

There are a lot of people out there who do not respect woman and girls. Some of them are part of the LGBT community and some aren't.

I do not believe that a male bodied person who uses female single sex spaces respects woman. If they did, they wouldn't use them.

I do not believe that the massive increase of male bodied people (especially middle aged men) that identify as woman and now use female single sex spaces have not changed the risk level for females using those spaces.

I believe that woman are now starting to self exclude from places. And if things carry on increasing at the rate they currently are, then it will happen more and more.

I do not think that my daughter has the same rights that I had as a child and early womanhood. Her risks will be greater and she will have to be a lot more aware in the spaces that I would have felt safe.

But hey, what does she matter- she is female.

@Goodoldvera You don't get it. It's not about trust. And even putting aside the attacks issue, it's about womens basic human rights to our spaces, to dignity and privacy.
