“hoisted by their own petard” never seemed more apt, if true

A gentleman with an MBE has been permanently suspended from Twitter".

Is Twitter still platforming paedophiles (''MAPs'')?

Are we supposed to give a fuck about what Twitter think?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 29/09/2022 22:21

Why were Gender GP giving makeup tips as well as selling dodgy hormones to children? Bizarre.

Despite being one of the busiest threads this one seems to be lurking right down at the bottom of 'active'
Anyone know how the list order is compiled?

The sooner they are shut down the better.

This.

Yes, I agree.

It's about f-ing time. When I and my partner searched the Internet for information and advice, when his child (my step child) "came out as trans " 4 yrs ago guess what was one of the first hits... Mermaids, suicide. We were terrified. We said, whatever you need. I was ignorant. Mermaids has got so much to answer for, I hope they fizzle into nothing, the bstrds.

Datdamndamp · 29/09/2022 22:33

I think it was lockdown and the residentials weren't running. Prior to that Mermaids was introducing children to Helen at camps. The transcript below was available on GenderGps website. For that 13year old it's clear that camp had a big influence on them demanding treatment.

I hope they go out in a massive (metaphorical) explosion that also takes out some of the other orgs pushing this ideology, and opening the eyes of the public.

A gentleman with an MBE has been permanently suspended from Twitter for accusing Mermaids of "promoting child abuse".

It's probably wise to avoid throwing wild accusations around until actual verdicts have been reached.

You threw one about JKR and her supporters earlier on in this very thread. I asked for proof. Where is it?

Datdamndamp · 29/09/2022 22:39

Sorry for having to post screenshots singly.

Anyone here who's had a 9 year old knows how desperately they look up to older children and teens. What responsible adult would be mixing them up with 18, 19 and 20 year olds and not expect them to come back wanting to be just like them. "They had all been to America".

Redshoeblueshoe · 29/09/2022 22:45

xalo - last week a very busy thread on these boards wasn't in trending, so I reported it and then it went into trending.

Philomena Cunk has a new documentary coming up.

In it, she asks the question of how no one but a witch of author did due diligence over a charity which thinks safeguarding is what you do when you stick chocolate in the fridge rather than the fire.

This is a charity, whose founder took her kid to Thailand and the US to bypass safeguarding and ethical practice in the UK. Resulting in Thailand then tightening up their laws.

The founder doesn't seem too keen on the idea that their child might have been gay and always wanted a daughter. And knew they were a girl after they played with the wrong toys.

They didn't understand their obligations under GDPR and Data Protection and got stuffed by the ICO because they fucked up that.

Then they had kids speaking to adults behind parents back as their standard practice. Until it was pointed out this isnt a good idea.

Then they had criticism for a calender which might be viewed as inappropriate for a children's charity.

They used to say that children were trapped in the wrong body. Well until it was pointed out this was harmful, so they absolutely didn't believe this after all. And no one thought that weird.

They just rolled the celebs out. And a bit like the Brass Eye Paedo Paradody Episode, none of these people did background checks when putting their name to something. They just stood their with their Mermaids Tshirts shouting on twitter about how hateful JKR was (noting not one of them can produce a hateful JKR tweet - they just KNOW)

Then there was the time they said they hadn't bothered with knowing the latest reports on the quality of the service that they'd spent the last few years lobbying to hand out blockers and surgery, cos that wasn't their bag and oh well they might not agree with it because it wasn't in line with the ancedotes of those they've spent the last few years brainwashing.

They just kept ramming home the point about suicide, to a group who are particularly vulnerable when the advice is not to promote suicide because doing so tends to encourage it rather than decrease it because of the well known phenomena of social contagion with suicide (remember those forums where parents weren't allowed but other unknown random adults were).

Then there was the bigging up of the GP under investigation and then struck off for misconduct...

It was a fucking hilarious skit. If it wasn't all bloody true.

The whole thing is a complete shit show of one failing after another over duty of care, due diligence and safeguarding. Yet its like everyone's brain has fallen out in the race to be supporting the latest trendy cause.

Transgender youth support charity Mermaids is under investigation by The Charity Commission over safeguarding concerns.

You might want to switch to a more reputable news org, Marge.

Perhaps the BBC and the Telegraph (and Joanne) may wish to publish a correction when the facts are pointed out to them?

It wouldn't be the first time a media outlet has been wrong, it's always good to take things with a pinch of salt.

How many times does it need to be said?

Its not news or journalism at that Pink Propaganda Palace.

I just went and had a look at Pink News on Twitter to try and get to the bottom of this. The first thing that struck me was the wording of their tweet - it doesn't say the Charity Commission aren't investigating Mermaids. Pink News say that the Charity Commission has confirmed to them that they aren't conducting a "statutory inquiry" into Mermaids.

That suggested to me that someone is playing with the wording to make headlines to suit them.

Pink News HAVE confirmed that the Charity Commission has said that they have "opened a regulatory compliance case and have written to the trustees. We await a reply".

So to the basic layperson, yes, the Charity Commission HAS opened an investigation into Mermaids. It's just in the early stages so far which allows Pink News to be pedantic and mislead their followers like Marge.

Screenshot attached of the explanation of the meaning of the different wordings.
