“hoisted by their own petard” never seemed more apt, if true

Just an additional celeb endorsement we mustn't forget - Jade thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock from Little Mix who joined Mermaids at Pride.

On BBC website now

Datun · 29/09/2022 20:59

Does anyone have a screenshot of the BDSM style calendar they did?

Redshoeblueshoe · 29/09/2022 21:01

Datun - WTF ?

Also just found the Mermaids tweet supporting Aimee Challenor's Huff Post piece, which was published after the Challenors hit the headlines.

I also find this tweet disturbing:

This is fake news @MargaritaPie. You can tell by the fact the last paragraph "We would like to reassure individuals who chooses to wear a binder are not committing a criminal offence." is grammatical nonsense.

What the Met actually said was: “The supply of a breast binder on its own is not a criminal offence.
“However, if an individual case of someone using a breast binder or undergoing the practice of breast ironing is reported to police, it would be investigated jointly with social services as potential child abuse. The same approach would be taken regardless of culture or community.”

Clymene · 29/09/2022 21:10

Crap - quoted the wrong post!

According to this tweet, the issue at least is not a legal one.

This is what I meant to quote!

Anyone feeling like a documentary is due?

I remember the Kids Company one and was shocked as I hadn’t heard a lot about the charity before it all fell to pieces.

There is a wealth of info out there just waiting for an investigative journalist to use right now.

FemaleAndLearning · 29/09/2022 21:33

I'm hoping that too.

I think we maybe need to be trawling previous podcasts, Instagram posts etc to see what they delete. This will be the visible tip of the iceberg.
Pimp news must be gnashing at the balls over this.
Waiting for LOJ to throw a tantrum.

Mermaids will go down spitefully - all digs and threatening no doubt.

RedAmber · 29/09/2022 21:57

National Autistic Society still has links to Mermaids.

A gentleman with an MBE has been permanently suspended from Twitter for accusing Mermaids of "promoting child abuse".

It's probably wise to avoid throwing wild accusations around until actual verdicts have been reached.

FernPotts · 29/09/2022 22:00

[Mermaids] has provided sessions for the police, NHS children’s mental health service, hospital trusts, charities and fostering agencies.

Why? Why aren’t the NHS training Mermaids in child mental health, and the police training them in the law, rather than the other way round?

RIP my irony meter. You're on fire tonight, Marg!

Good, about time.

I'm amazed this is JKR's fault too, that woman just gets so much done. Respect. I can't even get my house cleaned. I'm still waiting to discover which of her tweets caused global warming.

🤣🤣

It's a feature - many trans groups set themselves up as "experts" and apply their "expertise" to a range of areas that they know nothing about and have no qualifications in. Child health, child development, child psychology / psychiatry, education, law, safeguarding, SEN, children in care etc. They pronounce on all these centring their personal desires, beliefs and demands. Because they've positioned themselves at the top of the discrimination tree everyone must silence all professional expertise / knowledge and unthinkingly follow whatever wild and dangerous announcements - no matter how far fetched and catastrophic.
Hence - male paedophiles in women's prisons, children on puberty blockers, girls having to undress in front of boys, levels of social contagion amongst teenagers off the scale etc etc.

Why? I don't think anyone really cares about what Twitter thinks. It's hardly a threat - it's up there with 'my dad'll hit your dad' Hmm

Deliriumoftheendless · 29/09/2022 22:14

Are you still on that Kiwi Farms Marge? I feel you might be showing a touch of bias here.

Deliriumoftheendless · 29/09/2022 22:15

Kiwi Farms thread, I mean. wouldn’t want to suggest Marge is on KF!

TheClogLady · 29/09/2022 22:17

I believe there is a KF thread on Mermaids!

Datdamndamp · 29/09/2022 22:19

Totally not medical at all signposting to GenderGP by Mermaids. I think something was going on at the time like suspension of Helen or suspension of prescriptions.
