“hoisted by their own petard” never seemed more apt, if true

Oh the irony. Brilliant.

rubyslippers · 29/09/2022 16:25

That’s great news
hoisted by their own petard indeed

its about bloody time

heldinadream · 29/09/2022 16:26

Oh that's VERY good news! 👍

WhereYouLeftIt · 29/09/2022 16:27

I look forward to it!

Cleanmean · 29/09/2022 16:27

Finally! I wrote to our school board yesterday asking them to reconsider signposting kids to mermaids. I'm delighted with this latest development.

I noticed this week mermaids had been releasing statements along the lines of 'we are not being investigated, this is fake news. ..'. Ha!

xalo · 29/09/2022 16:28

Karma

Rainbowshit · 29/09/2022 16:29

Great news!

Helleofabore · 29/09/2022 16:29

Awesome!

Cheekymaw · 29/09/2022 16:30

Massively long overdue.

Zoom101 · 29/09/2022 16:30

Quite right too!

What delicious irony.

PriOn1 · 29/09/2022 16:36

Now that IS interesting. Wonder whether the Charities Commission are somewhat miffed at Mermaids interference after the Commission had obviously taken a lot of time considering LBGAs application and passing it.

Biting the hand that feeds you as well as hoisting….

MargaritaPie · 29/09/2022 16:38

The commission has a duty to investigate concerns raised, yes. I'm presuming most complaints came from JK Rowling's followers after one of her recent tweets?

As with everything else, innocent until proven guilty.

Winterthoughts · 29/09/2022 16:39

Kids Company fell fast ,too 🤞

I think this quote will get a regular airing!

OldCrone · 29/09/2022 16:43

The* *Telegraph say that they have evidence of Mermaids sending breast binders to children without their parents' knowledge.

From the earlier Telegraph article.

Evidence obtained by The Telegraph shows that the charity’s staff have offered binders to children as young as 13 who say that their parents oppose the practice.

Do you not remember all the threads you were on over the past years where MNers raised concerns? Including but not limited to the appalling use of the children's confidential data - emails being accidentally made public etc, that included their names and diagnoses etc?

I wonder if their appearance at the court case they launched against LGBA, in which the Charity Commission were also represented, had any input?

Princessglittery · 29/09/2022 16:45

Quite right.

Stonewall knew what they were doing when they disassociated themselves from the case Mermaids is pursuing against the Charity Commission and LGB Alliance.

Or maybe, just maybe, the Telegraph reporters who wrote an excellent investigative piece on Mermaid earlier in the week sent it to the commission?

Or do they count as 'one of JK Rowling's followers' too?

She's not actually practising mind control on people, ya know.

Signalbox · 29/09/2022 16:46

🥳 Brilliant!

rogdmum · 29/09/2022 16:46

The Telegraph say that they have evidence of Mermaids sending breast binders to children without their parents' knowledge.

And they absolutely do have evidence of this and rather more besides.

YouSirNeighMmmm · 29/09/2022 16:47

Next has to be every single LGBT organisation. I recently complained to the charity commission about Stonewall and how I simply cannot see how they can claim to support the LGB and the T, and that they need to pick a side. Obviously they're not going to listen to one complaint from little old me, but hopefully it is one of many.

Are you for fucking real? What rock have you been under?
