“hoisted by their own petard” never seemed more apt, if true

Can someone start a new thread soon, please. We are most definitely going to need a new one.

This. This isn't going to die down for a while.

Good idea - especially as this one is suffering from repeated attempts to derail it.

Pyjamagame · 05/10/2022 20:56

Ben Cooper has so much dignity and class.

Knittingmonster · 05/10/2022 20:56

Still radio silence from all those people fervently defending mermaids just days ago. Now the only people defending them are those like India W (eggshell skull person if I remember correctly), and those Twitter users with anime avatars and very full bios 😀

Pyjamagame · 05/10/2022 20:57

We needs forensic analysis of that calibre (Ben's) applied to Mermaids.

I wonder who the safeguarding lead was at mermaids. I’m saying was because after this spectacular cock up there’s no way they could still have a job.

But also, given the what was in The Times about moves from one platform to another - to Discord - shouldn't the police be involved? And what's been said about emails - who's on the "to" line, the report of a child getting an unsolicited email, and the sheer volume of the "digest" emails to children - doesn't that feel like ICO territory? It doesn't feel like it can be solely a Charity Commission examination of events, does it?

Pyjamagame · 05/10/2022 20:58

Or maybe the ladies of FWR should just hand over ALL the years of material gathered here.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 05/10/2022 20:59

I think Knitting that the person who dismisses murder and violence against women as the result of "eggshell skulls" is the person with the repellent fascination for extreme porn films that involve murdering and mutilating women? Jane Fae?

Knittingmonster · 05/10/2022 21:01

It should be a police matter. There has been criminal amounts of negligence in my opinion. It has to be a criminal offence surely. I thought Susie Green worked in tech?

Norma27 · 05/10/2022 21:02

RobinMoiraWhite · 05/10/2022 20:48

I’m only responding.

But you don’t respond to the questions regarding mermaids safeguarding do you? Why not ?

littlbrowndog · 05/10/2022 21:03

Was Jane fae that defender of extreme porn and how to clean your devices

Pyjamagame · 05/10/2022 21:04

I'm thinking was Jane Fae the one who complained about not being to access unsuitable sites on their phone on public transport???

Knittingmonster · 05/10/2022 21:05

Indeed Jane was. Isn’t it odd how do many defenders of the trans ideology are involved in either porn, sex offending, encouraging children into dangerous situations or abuse of women. It’s almost like there’s a common denominator.

RobinMoiraWhite · 05/10/2022 21:07

OldCrone · 05/10/2022 20:53

I asked you a question on the topic of the thread, and you ignored it.

Here it is again.

I'd like @RobinMoiraWhite to explain why the safeguarding issues associated with encouraging children to keep secrets from their parents is so confusing.

What aspect of this do you find confusing Robin?

Would you like to answer now? There are people here who may be able to help with explaining safeguarding to you so that you are less confused in future.

Given that simple factual matters are exaggerated or misrepresented with the intention or effect of distorting any action, you are very optimistic to think I would comment in such a medium on something really contentious.

Sorry @MrsOvertonsWindow you are correct. IW was the one who went on big brother and verbally abused Amanda Barrie. It’s hard to keep them straight

Excellent point Resister. There's also the possibility of a police investigation. Given the previous data breaches, the admission that they're not medical experts while simultaneously promoting to young children drug treatment, surgery for "body modification", the mixed age forums, discussions about bodies, sex and sexual identity with very young children with no parental consent along with actively working to alienate children from their parents - there must be a case to explore under one of the offences under the sexual offences act.
It's also quite possible (given the nature of the trustee) that there are other completely unsuitable adults who are able to use the charity to access children? Not saying there are but given their track record in failing to notice (or not caring) , the questions must be asked.

I don't think so - wasn't that a transwoman working for a domestic violence charity going to a meeting in parliament to discuss VAWG? So fucking offensive.

So @RobinMoiraWhite you believe it is contentious to say that mermaids safeguarding was not robust enough when it appointed a paedophile sympathiser to its trustee board. When an internet search should have shown many red flags? The sunlight you shine on your ideology is truly amazing on every thread you crash into.

Quoting myself to add an extract:

By Victoria Smith:

Then again, I know that’s not what you mean. What you and others are suggesting is that unless Mermaids and fellow organisations such as Gendered Intelligence are permitted to proceed as they see fit, minus any oversight whatsoever, trans children are being made unsafe. You might think of this as covering your own backs. I think of it as terrorising vulnerable children for political gain.

It’s a tactic familiar to anyone who has studied domestic abuse and coercive control. Make the people whose unquestioning compliance you seek — in this case, unhappy children — believe that the rest of the world is a greater threat to them than anything you could do. Convince them you are keeping them safe. Make them think that without you, they’d die.

The adults who claim to champion the cause of “trans kids” have taken this approach to extremes. The world is “trans-hostile”; young people are being threatened with “conversion abuse”; the treatments Mermaids promote are “life-saving”. This sits alongside broader messaging which suggests anyone critical of, say, puberty blockers or breast-binding is supportive of “trans genocide”.

Young people are told they are surrounded by adults who want them dead — if not by killing them outright, then by denying them the treatment they need to survive. Feminists want them dead. Their parents want them dead. Hell, even their favourite author wants them dead. This inflicts terror on children at one of the most turbulent stages of their lives.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 05/10/2022 21:16

I think that was another MTF trans person, on their way to give evidence about not respecting single sex facilities for vulnerable women in refuges to the Women and Equalities Select Committee.

X post and yes

Pyjamagame · 05/10/2022 21:20

Ah, it is hard to remember which one did what.

Knittingmonster · 05/10/2022 21:21

It is starting to become more and more obvious what the true motivation behind charities like mermaids is. Alienate children from their parents and families, convince them you are the only one who understands them and anyone who raises concerns is a ‘hater’, pump them full of drugs to stop development of adult bodies and medically sterilise them. Now who would be interested in legal adults with the bodies of children, who have been encouraged to slough off all boundaries and critical thinking, and to trust anyone who spouts the right buzzwords….

Jane Fae was 'eggshell skulls'.
