“hoisted by their own petard” never seemed more apt, if true

I fear there will be a lot of
'Our just and righteous cause has been derailed by those awful terfs who pecked and pecked until they found evidence of evil sleepers who had infiltrated our organisations.'

Ah, fuck it.
Now we’ve gotten adjusted to being falsely accused of Transphobia/Bigotry/Fascism etc we certainly aren’t going to care about being called meddling prudes.

I fear there will be a lot of
'Our just and righteous cause has been derailed by those awful terfs who pecked and pecked until they found evidence of evil sleepers who had infiltrated our organisations.'

But of course there will, after all women are responsible for what men do - first rule of misogyny, innit

MeddlingPrude · 04/10/2022 17:44

Ah, they might have got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky wims.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 04/10/2022 17:44

Sarah Stuart's (The Lies They Tell) account of attending his webinar earlier in the year:

https://the-lies-they-tell.org/2022/01/31/cambridge-uni-presents-a-terf-grammar-book/

As per usual everyone is stunned into silence. Someone telling him now he has done ‘hard work’.

Grateful that prison abolition has been bought up. How do you navigate that prison abolitionist lit is mainly US but terf grammar is mainly British? Also ‘sex is real’ is almost cultic chant. How is it shifting debates? Is it about force of repetition?

Breslow: Both super important questions. US has highest incarceration rate and central part of the culture, therefore more scholarship. Claims there is a longstanding abolitionist movt in UK. Recommends Sister Uncut if people are interested in it. They are trans inclusive.

On the chant of ‘sex is real’. Repetition used as if it is evidence of truth. Massive amount of scholarship which proves that puberty blockers are safe and works. Breslow says to people when they come to him with ‘valid concerns’ – you must read up all the research that proves it’s all okay.

UCL just decided to not use Stonewall any further – Breslow feels that they didn’t take in account any trans schlorship. There is a fantasy of competition of rights (between women and men)

ArabellaScott · 04/10/2022 17:46

Recommends Sister Uncut - does he, now. I wonder why.

KatMcBundleFace · 04/10/2022 17:51

Ben Cohen's tweets and replies are a thing of wonder. He's reposting..... he's not one of us about 20 times.

I would pity him if he wasn't at the centre of all this.

ArabellaScott · 04/10/2022 17:51

Panic setting in.

ArabellaScott · 04/10/2022 17:56

My compassion is reserved for the children being funnelled into this cynical, manipulative system, attracted by sweets, puppies, rainbow sparkles, told all their problems can be solved by a magical pills-and-surgery regime, and having their suffering exploited by grifting doctors, politically motivated misogynists, and bullshit merchants trying to outcompete each other to the Right Side of History.

rogdmum · 04/10/2022 16:08

I can see Ben Cohen's little feet paddling away very fast

Ben is indeed paddling away as fast as he can. First to break rank?

The replies are excellent - what a ratio!

The LSE have questions to answer as well. This is the Gender Studies Dept course content

Course content

The MSc Gender is a flexible degree which offers you the opportunity to develop expertise in the fullest possible range of gender theories, and stresses the significance of gender for knowledge and research design.

You are trained in how to treat gender as an object of study, as an analytic approach or perspective and as a way of thinking across disciplinary boundaries. A key focus of the degree concerns the ethical as well as intellectual issues that arise from practicing gender studies. In addition to the compulsory courses of the degree, you are able to choose options, from within and outside of the Department, in order to develop your own gender studies pathway and focus on key research areas.

Can't even spell "practising" when it's a verb...

I just want to say thank you to everyone working on this behind the scenes, knocking it down brick by brick to expose the rotten core that everyone should have been able to smell from the beginning.

Every brick which comes down I know has taken someone, or a group, months of work and research of joining the dots to then expose this.

There is a mass effort going on by so many people 4w, sex matters, safe schools, Stephanie Arai, Glinner, journalists, academics, parents.

Every brick takes us a step nearer to protecting children.
Thank you to everyone working on this 💐

I'm helping within my own small sphere and every brick you expose gives me ammunition to challenge more.

Keep

One talk is "Intimacy as Method in Trans Sex Research."

Sounds a bit like that bloke from Manchester and his "Wanking off to child porn as Method in Trans Sex Research" schtik.

Indeed. Breslow's joint presentation was:
Jacob Breslow, Tomás Ojeda, Emma Spruce: ‘Gender Critical’ Complaint as Time Wasting Device: How anti-gender politics depletes academic knowledge production.

Of course it does...

The attendees also got to enjoy:
4.00 – 5.15 - Grace Lavery, Reading from Please Miss: A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Penis, Followed by Q & A.

That'll be one for the masochists then...

PronounssheRa · 04/10/2022 18:28

Holy fuck. Is that a glimmer of integrity, or just a desperate grab at self preservation

Self preservation. Penis news has spent years denigrating women who dared to talk about safeguarding, but its all blowing up now.

RedToothBrush · 04/10/2022 18:41

J k Rowling At Jk_rowling
We've now learned that Mermaids appointed a paedophilia apologist as Trustee and that their online moderator encouraged kids to move onto a platform notorious for sexual exploitation. This is a charity that's achieved unprecedented influence in the UK.

They couldn't have achieved it without the money and public support of certain corporations and celebrities, who eagerly boosted them even though the red flags have been there for years. Mermaids' fingers were all over the Tavistock Gender Identity Clinic debacle.

They've been allowed into classrooms, trained police and had unprecedented influence over health policy, even though by their own admission they aren't a medical charity. We've also found out they're sending devices to flatten breasts to underage girls w/o parental consent.

So I don't doubt that there are some panicky phone calls being placed to PR people by certain corporations and celebrities right now, but as they remain completely insulated from the severe harm they've enabled, my sympathy can be measured in gnats' thimbles.

This quote always comes back to me when JK hits the nail on the head:

“Dark times lie ahead of us and there will be a time when we must choose between what is easy and what is right. -Albus Dumbledore”

It never ever tires or fails to be relevant.

heathspeedwell · 04/10/2022 18:50

This makes me wonder if the journalists at the Times and Telegraph knew for a while about Jacob Breslow's links to paedophile groups and waited to make this public until after they had exposed a whole series of Mermaid's other safeguarding failures.

How on earth can parents trust the advice of a children's charity that was stupid enough to make a paedophile apologist one of its Trustees?

Best case scenario is that Mermaid's were too stupid to look into the work that he is publishing right now. It's not just about some event he attended 11 years ago. If anything his most recently published stuff has more red flags.

BenCoopersSupportWren · 04/10/2022 19:01

Repetition used as if it is evidence of truth.

Oh, you mean like “transwomen are women”? 🙄

Anyone else deafened by the recent silence of the usual wokescolds and women haters who were so quick to bleat “there’s no investigation” earlier? None of you got the, ahem, balls to stand up and say this is indefensible and not what you support? Or does your silence mean you think this is alllllll fiiiiiiiiine?

rogdmum · 04/10/2022 19:01

heathspeedwell No, it took two years to get a journalist interested in the initial breaking story about the Youth Forum. No one would touch it until the Telegraph stepped up. It has now spiralled from there.

DameMaud · 04/10/2022 19:02
Good time to re-post this?

For people compiling lists of organisations who supported mermaids, add Ukie to the list (the trade body of the games industry). twitter.com/uk_ie/status/1295662114045075458?s=46&t=D2zbVa4afEG52tIztU-7vA

This lovely post is worth repeating. I also know there are many thousands of women and men working away behind the scenes. So many courageous ones upfront attracting the hate and violence from the queer theorists and predators. And many many more bit by bit exposing this travesty.

We all need to speak up as often as is possible (and safe) for us to do. We're literally fighting for the safety of children.

BBC reporting on it too

I posted earlier that Pink News ran a pro-incest piece. It starts with the words "If you’ve watched Game of Thrones, you’ll know that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with f**king your sibling in Westeros."

www.pinknews.co.uk/2018/03/22/why-cant-gay-or-lesbian-twins-have-sex-with-or-marry-each-other-why-is-incest-wrong-between-same-sex-siblings/

Four years earlier they were berating an "anti-gay activist" for saying that the Gay activists would use Game of Thrones as an excuse to come out as pro-incest

www.pinknews.co.uk/2014/07/25/anti-gay-activist-gays-will-next-demand-incest-rights-because-of-game-of-thrones/

Obviously this bigtoed anti-gay activist is an idiot - it was the TQ+ activists promoting incest and paedophilia, not Gay activists. And TQ+ activists are homophobic and misoginistic and clearly don't the risks to T people of the backlash.
