PP clearly has her eye on the prize (protecting women & girls from the effects of trans ideology) and couldn't give a stuff about the background of who can assist. I don't either, to be honest. Once we've lost the ability to be clear about sex based oppression then that's it. Who now trusts crime statistics where the sex of an individual is important?

I do think her sarcasm and taking ideas to the nth degree (like the transpeople should be sterilised thing) get conveniently misinterpreted but it doesn't make me think less of her, but does of her misinterpreters. Plus, we really don’t have a right/left division on abortion here, nor any credible mainstream movement to prohibit from any direction: There is very little appetite to do anything much with our abortion laws beyond a little tinkering around the edges.
The last notable court challenge to abortion rights (IIRC) came from disability rights activists rather than right wingers or Christians, which is perhaps something to point out to our more rabid opponents on the blue hair, intersectionalist side.

As a woman formally on the hard left I know many Labour women still earnestly trying to get their comrades to acknowledge sense.
Its pitiful to watch, these poor women who have spent a lifetime supporting and fighting for left causes, being trashed, gleefully, over and over again.

I'd have more sympathy for the argument about not leaving the left if the same people like JB didn't seem to have such a bloody narrow view of what being a left wing feminist means. The line they draw is so tight that frankly the vast majority of women fall outside it on some questions.

Weirdly while often having a very capitalist regard for the value of paid work over things like motherhood.

And I'd also point out that this viewpoint seems to demand that people accept identity politics except with regard to trans ideology. Which is why they are so comfortable demanding that people be on board with groups like BLM as evidence of being on the left and think anyone who isn't is a racist.

Yes, I have thought about that, a German motorway (yes, see what you did there) can all link up to the same place.
