Just seen. Wow what a week. The report sounds like it will be really damning.

Crucially, it also looks like the replacement services will have stronger mental health support.

Oh that’s actually made me cry. Proper holistic care, mental health support and rigorous data collection

As it always should have been.

This is great news. It will be crucial that the NHS follows through with providing the mental health support that's needed by kids and teenagers.

And clinical trials to follow up children on puberty blockers into adulthood.

It’s important to say I don’t celebrate a clinic closing because I don’t want the service to be available, but because I want a great and safe service to be available: the Tavistock was not providing this. I really want good services available for children and hope they come soon.

This is a start. There isn’t the evidence to say puberty blockers are an appropriate treatment for gender dysphoria, so whether they’re doling them out here or at a number of other clinics, the underlying assumptions (that there are some children who ‘are trans’) need serious attention.

Thank fuck. I only hope this is the beginning of the end for Mermaids too.

Having a huge emotional response. I have a ND gender non conforming daughter (read everything non conforming).

She is young, but not far off being exposed to these ideas. She is fodder for gender ideologues. Struggles socially. Likes 'boy stuff'. Beginning to realise she is different. Absolutist. If she headed down the gender questioning path the Tavi would have been where she was referred. That prospect genuinely terrifies me.

The closure of that facility makes me so much less fearful of this prospect.

I am so fucking relieved.
