Oh! Maybe have Search and see if all of Wendi's posts everywhere have gone! Might be a pbp? Who knows?

SamphirethePogoingStickerist · 03/06/2022 13:18

Or was Wendiii the poster who started with a fairly ad hom attack on white Mumsnetters? Because that's something clearly not allowed in.tbe T+ C's - the ad hom attacks that is.

francesfrankenfurter · 03/06/2022 13:22

Peatwee · 03/06/2022 13:04

Why have all Wendy's posts calling out blackface been deleted?

Because her comments will have been mass reported.

I personally haven't reported anyone, I rarely do.

SamphirethePogoingStickerist · 03/06/2022 13:31

Oh for god's sake! Is that going to be 'proof' now?

Ad Hom attacks are not allowed by anyone, for any reason and, whilst I am on my phone and the Search is crap, I tried to find other posts by them and found nothing. If someone else here 'knows' Wendii or can find other posts then it will be posts in this thread, but if not then it will be something like them being a previously banned poster.

But the conspiracy theory style crap is just that, crap!

Welcome to mumsnet, chumleedot.

Do you have any evidence you can show so that we can see how you arrived at that somewhat startling conclusion? Or is it just a completely unfounded accusation?

TastefulRainbowUnicorn · 03/06/2022 17:32

FWR has an ongoing problem with racism and the regulars aren't policing themselves, it doesn't surprise me one bit that posters who are calling them out on it are getting their posts reported and deleted.

Oh for crying out loud, is this going to be the new tactic? I notice some TRA earlier on the thread said the poster was "mass reported"; there's only one group doing that on this board.

This thread for a start!

Those pictures make me v uncomfortable. For those of us who follow those issues closely, we know the intended target of his satire, but the vast majority of the population wouldnt. Whilst not blackface, that outfit and the wig could easily be misconstrued.

So whilst Mr Menno was not being racist in who he was targetting with his satire, his lack of insight into why this get up could cause offense to black people i think could be seen as racism. I certainly couldn't imagine looking at myself in the mirror and not rethinking. The triggers are pretty obvious.

TastefulRainbowUnicorn · 04/06/2022 10:37

I more or less agree with this, except that I suspect it looks different in photos than it did in real life. Some of the photos look bad, but I would guess that in real life the visual distinction between a black balaclava and blackface is immediately obvious.

Floisme · 04/06/2022 11:34

I think that's fair BenCooperisaGod. I did change my mind about this when I saw some of the photos.

I'm also slightly bemused that Mr Menno seems to have attracted relatively little criticism compared to the women who were watching. Or maybe I'm not.

BenCooperisaGod · 04/06/2022 11:43

It is stuff like this that is used to drive a wedge between women, to give credence to the view that the type of feminism found on these boards is not for or about women of colour. If i am being brutally honest, seeing the pictures and some of the comments on here, i can see why some women of colour may draw that conclusion. Being sensitive to their very real issues is way more important than cheap point scoring.

littlelill · 04/06/2022 16:59

He wasn't wearing a balaclava, if anything it looks worse in the videos because he is prancing around entertaining the white people like a fool.

If you've had experience of Zwarte Piet in The Netherlands this was a lot like that - but even more awful.

DayInTheLifeOf · 04/06/2022 23:26

You're joking aren't you, he looked nothing like Zwarte Piet.

Some people just WANT to see racism when it's not there.

🤔

francesfrankenfurter · 05/06/2022 02:11

I am not a TRA.

SamphirethePogoingStickerist · 05/06/2022 09:27

I am not a racist.

Does making such a statement make a difference to something?

francesfrankenfurter · 05/06/2022 12:06

How can I be a TRA when I believe in sex and see gender as a system to oppress women? TRA does not just mean anyone who disagrees with you.

SamphirethePogoingStickerist · 05/06/2022 13:43

How can I be a racist when I believe in equality and see racism as a system to oppress people of colour? Racism does not just mean anyone who disagrees with you.

You are still complaining of the mote in my eye whilst ignoring the beam in your own!

Maybe whoever did call you a TRA can explain their reasoning.

Superbleu · 05/06/2022 14:44

Why have the moderators deleted the @chumleedot post about possible racism on this board? I've just seen a screenshot on Twitter with the intact version and the deleted message juxtaposed next to it.

You're making us look awful.

SamphirethePogoingStickerist · 05/06/2022 14:53

You saw it on Twitter? So it was screenshot before it was deleted, and it was deleted relatively quickly.

OK. So, regardless of the reasons it was deleted, that supports the idea that the recent increase in new posters accusing MN FWR posters of racism are here simply to generate a twitterfest.

Just another way to discredit women discussing womens rights.

If this carries on we won't be able to have an honest discussion about any topic.

It's pretty easy to write a scipt that automatically archives a webpage at given intervals. From what I can gather this is being done on FWR and a deletion message triggers a notice allowing the user to go and check the the post that has been deleted to see if it is anything juicy that they can use.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 05/06/2022 15:24

Is it on GitHub or whatever? We could probably do with it ourselves on this board.

SamphirethePogoingStickerist · 05/06/2022 15:31

Yet we are told we are being paranoid when we suggest such shit is being done on a regular basis!
