Could anyone give me the context for this?

Why was someone in blackface at the event? Is it to show the comparison with womanface?

He was a "black pamper" a nickname given to the TRAs who dressed all in black and intimidated and assaulted women at the Manchester meet last month. It's not blackface. It's a black morph suit.

SamphirethePogoingStickerist · 30/05/2022 10:29

Well, he made a point. Possibly not the one he intended.

Will Posie be accused of staging him, do you think?

Foilball · 30/05/2022 10:42

To my mind, calling him a 'black pamper', alluding to a group which was created by Black Americans to fight against oppression whilst he is dressed in what could be (and has been) interpreted as black face Is questionable to put it mildly.

ScreamingMeMe · 30/05/2022 10:47

The name was coined after the last meeting to describe the TRAs who turned up masked and all in black and behaved like little brats. Nice try though.

And that's a morph suit, not blackface.

I think it was someone taking the piss, not an actual TRA.

SamphirethePogoingStickerist · 30/05/2022 10:48

Yeah well, it is satire. Humour.

Which are you most annoyed about?

  • Women having a sense of humour in the face of physical threats

  • Him for disrupting a women's event

  • Him for appearing in apparent blackface

Because I won't apologise for satire, and doubt anyone else will either.

I did look again and yes, the nappy gives it away Smile

Did he disrupt a women's event? It looked from the brief clip I have seen that he was part of the 'show'.

Mammary Mafia

Interesting that when they're being derogatory, it's all about the female organs. How very uninclusive of them.

SpindleSheWrote · 30/05/2022 11:08

Oh is that a nappy? I thought it was some baggy underpants. I think my career in semiotics is doomed.

OhDearWhyAmIFatterly · 30/05/2022 11:43

@StormyWaterCloud was it your first meeting? I felt so good when I got home!

Yes it was! It was great!

francesfrankenfurter · 30/05/2022 16:18

Of course it was blackface. But many of you seem comfortable with racism.

MagnoliaTaint · 30/05/2022 16:22

You're saying antifa people are wearing 'blackface', francesfrankenfurter? Interesting take.

Actually it was Terrorist Face.

Sometimes you just have to accept that a thing has more than one meaning. And a balaclava seems to be one of those things.

With all of the men blocking women meeting to talk about women they I tend to look scary, like terrorists.

Not every black thing is about race.

If you can't see that to the rest of the world this looks like blackface then the problem is you.

LoopyOldLady · 30/05/2022 18:11

Honestly do not understand how people can defend this.
The name Black Pampers is a clear play on the black civil rights group Black Panthers.
The man performing the skit is wearing a skin tight black morph suit and a black curly wig, not the generic black clothing typically favoured by black bloc protesters. A straight parody of the the black bloc style protesters would feature normal black bloc clothing with a nappy over the top, (still pretty dodgy IMO) not a skin tight black suit and wig to give the appearance of nakedness under the nappy.

Utterly tasteless at best and racist and offensive at worst. The cheering and applause from the gathered crowd is shamefull.

nepeta · 30/05/2022 18:35

If making fun of the TRAs who dressed all in black with black balaclavas in Manchester is racism, then that original defense of the Pankhurst statue by the TRAs in ninja outfits was also racism.

Neither interpretation is correct, of course. Ninjas are supposed to wear those black face masks, and the ridicule was about the events in Manchester.

MagnoliaTaint · 30/05/2022 18:50

curly wig? Is that not a hoodie? Picture is tiny, it's true.

ScreamingMeMe · 30/05/2022 18:56

How strange that this thread has attracted posters who have never been on here before. It's almost as if someone is busy stoking outrage.

Yeah it's pretty blatant, isn't it?

Yogipineapple123 · 30/05/2022 19:18

Kicking myself that I missed this! Is there one already planned for next month please?
