Thanks for the new thread. Been too busy to follow along much during the day so appreciate the commentary.

BoreOfWhabylon · 12/05/2022 21:03

@MsFogi what does this mean please?

I hope BC will give AB a red bag after this tribunal is over (she deserves one!!).

Cuck00soup · 12/05/2022 21:19

Adding my gratitude for the new thread & the commentary.

I managed to dip into Twitter a couple of times today but find the explanations here paint a colourful picture, Glad to hear that Allison has been so eloquent. She's made some excellent points and I hope this will be reported on in the press.

Xenia · 12/05/2022 21:23

Red bags question - see www.johnsonastills.com/site/blog/ejablog/helen-johnsons-red-bag

Charley50 · 12/05/2022 21:26

Sounds like Allison did brilliantly today. She's my shero right now. I finished reading her statement this morning. It's so clear and well written. It's clear she was treated appallingly and she manages to convey the facts and some emotion without being emotive.

Thanks so much as well for the threads; they're excellent.

Xenia · 12/05/2022 21:23

Thanks for the explanation Xenia. (That whooshing sound was the original reference to red bags flying over my head...)

@MsFogi what does this mean please?

I hope BC will give AB a red bag after this tribunal is over (she deserves one!!).

@BoreOfWhabylon barristers have a blue drawstring bag for their gown and wig. Only QCs can buy red bags and can give one to a junior barrister (ie not a QC) who has done a stunningly spectacular job on a case with them. Whilst AB has not been BC's junior on this case I think everyone would agree - she is doing a stunningly spectacular job on this case (and I suspect has done masses of the prep work on it). She may of course already have been given a red bag by another QC but, if not, I hope BC gives her one once this is all well and truly over (he may not as I suspect that would be fraught with all sorts of issues for him and her but I can at least say on this forum that the woman deserves a goddam red bag!!! and I hope that BC considers getting her on board as his junior counsel on the inevitable future cases about GC beliefs, as a result of the CASS report and generally about undermining women's rights).

BoreOfWhabylon · 12/05/2022 21:37

Thank you Xenia and MsFogi for the explanations.

I hope Allison gets her red bag and fab kick-ass red shoes to match!

Waitwhat23 · 12/05/2022 22:00

Thank you to everyone on these threads who has given detailed, knowledgeable information about the court processes and nuances - some of these go way over my head!

Very interesting re: the red bags. Thank you for the links.

Boiledbeetle · 12/05/2022 22:11

I went down a rabbit hole earlier this evening following the cotton ceiling links a previous poster put up.

Urghhhhhh! Tellingly it made me want to do the same thing as being abused as a child did. I just want to go and scrub myself raw to get the stench of those thoughts these people have off me.

IloveHolby · 12/05/2022 22:21

Thanks @nauticant , I'm hoping I can log in and watch some tomorrow.

ItsLateHumpty · 12/05/2022 22:26

@Boiledbeetle 😔 that’s awful, I feel for you Flowers

nauticant · 12/05/2022 22:30

The proposed schedule for tomorrow is that the first hour will be AH finishing his cross-examination of AB before BC gets a go with the GCC witnesses. They might be a fascinating watch but our experience watching Mr Lue of GCC earlier was tedious quibbling over the questions with denials of him being aware of anything at all. On the strength of his performance, it's possible he is the least observant barrister in London.

ExMachinaDeus · 12/05/2022 22:31

Thank you to everyone on these threads. I’m working and in another time zone, so this is the main way I’m trying to catch what’s happening with Ms Bailey’s hearing.

Aghast that evidence was given by SW snowflakes that they would be intimidated by Ms Bailey in a public lavatory. Homophobic, racist and misogynist, much?

I almost cried when I read her witness statement. It is a magnificent piece of writing: really logical and articulate and clear about her life and her beliefs, and where those came from. But heartrending about her life experiences. I just wanted to hug her!

@ItsLateHumpty thank you for the flowers.

WookeyHole · 12/05/2022 22:33

Is it a 10am start again tomorrow?

TheBiologyStupid · 12/05/2022 22:48

Yup, the tribunal is sitting from 10 tomorrow (unlike last Friday).

WookeyHole · 12/05/2022 22:48

DelurkingLawyer · 12/05/2022 22:56

Catching up from today.

Fascinating to see a name from my distant past pop up - Dave Renton, the Old Etonian nephew of Thatcher’a chief whip. I knew him vaguely at Oxford in the early 90s. He was a member of the SWP, whose Oxford chapter was almost completely comprised of Old Etonians, and spent his Saturdays selling the Socialist Worker on Cornmarket Street, not very successfully. There’s a deeply self-regarding Wikipedia page about him that bears all the hallmarks of being self-penned.

You couldn’t make it up really. I told my husband, who also knew him, what he was accused of doing, and he snorted and said “well nobody would be surprised by that.”

Thanks all. Fascinating and Allison so stressful but 👏👏👏🍷
