Hypothetical perfect sex change

pop91 · 27/03/2022 03:06

Hypothetical:

Say there was a perfect sex change in the future where every single cell could be recoded as male for a trans man, would you then accept transmen as men? or would they need to be born male even if their entire physicality and biology were changed?

(To be clear this sex change would hypothetically naturally dissolve breasts and naturally create a penis as well as ALL other physical changes)

What’s the point of this thought experiment that has no bearing on reality?

why did Plato discuss the Ship of Theseus? Why did the Greeks think about Zeus? IDK I'm wondering that's all.

What so someone would wave a magic wand and turn the person into a man? I mean I don’t know how that would make me feel. It’s like saying ‘if we all lived in Butler’s Bloodchild would we think the aliens were bad because we know paedophilia and consent exist?’ Well I don’t know because I’d have been changed by that mythical alien world. Same in this case. If magic existed I don’t know how I’d feel about the magical things that happened.

Delphinium20 · 27/03/2022 03:26

Science fiction is a strong selling genre right now. Why not write this as a novel and published it on Kindle?

I wasn't proposing Magic but a medical procedure made possible by future science.

Like a super-advanced future version of CRISPR.

As we're dealing with hypotheticals... Smile if someone were to do this thing to someone against their will would you consider them male or female?

Cwenthryth · 27/03/2022 03:57

That’s an excellent question Zapx

What do you think OP? What is your answer to your own original question as well?

Kanaloa · 27/03/2022 04:01

There’s a film of that. About a hitman? I think, who is kidnapped and forced to undergo a sex change to be female. DH sent a link to me saying ‘I know you love bad films.’
Kanaloa · 27/03/2022 04:03

But anyway I’d say you were proposing magic because I don’t see any realistic medical procedure that would dissolve boobs and internal organs and magic up a penis with no apparent leftover hormones or anything else. Otherwise you could say ‘the housing crisis would be solved if there was a way to conjure up fully built houses at no cost. No it’s not magic, just a future construction idea.’

Zapx · 27/03/2022 04:09

@Kanaloa did you watch it? Grin

Yes, I would consider them to have changed sex but not gender.

As I believe Sex and Gender are different and you do not.

seems no one wants to answer the actual question Hmm

I already believe Trans men to be men and don't think the hypothetical procedure would be needed Smile

Because the question doesn’t make any sense and is irrelevant to any real life situation Hmm

I’m afraid you’re gravely misinformed on this point. I highly doubt any regular gender critical posters on this board believe sex and gender to be the same thing. However we may have a different opinion than you on what gender is. What do you think sex and gender are?

Kanaloa · 27/03/2022 04:22

@Zapx

Not yet 😂 it does look like exactly my kind of rubbish. It’s called The Assignment and basically the hitman then sets out to kill the people who gave him the sex change.

Zapx · 27/03/2022 04:30

I too believe sex and gender are different. I wouldn't like to assume, but how they are different might be where you and I disagree.

@Kanaloa do report back! Grin

No, it's maybe not relevant to now but maybe relevant in the future and I would like to know if such a person may then have required biology to be considered a male or whether it's a birth requirement?

It's in the name.

You don't believe gender is real and that Man, Women can only be determined by sex

I believe both sex and gender are real and one can be different from the other.

A movie about a forced Sex Reassignment.
Well, that would be a favourite of Gender Criticals know wouldn't it?

Cwenthryth · 27/03/2022 04:48

Again, you’re wrong. I would politely suggest you stop telling “us” what we believe.

What do you mean by gender being “real”? What does “real” mean in this context, to you?

Rightsraptor · 27/03/2022 04:48

Who are you talking to @pop91 when you say 'as I believe sex & gender are different but you do not' - Zapx or all of us? Because if it's to us all you are really showing your hand by telling us what we think. Actually, the same for if it's only Zapx. You know what we really think, never mind the reality of what you can read on this board if you chose to pay any attention to it, you know best. As others have said, the general view is that sex & gender are different and most of us don't have any time for the mystical belief of 'gender identity'.

I think you're goading so I'm out of here.

Mysterioso · 27/03/2022 05:11

What if the sun one day actually transformed into the wheel of a chariot? Energy and mass all compensated for. The transformation would generate the chariot and any other necessary parts. Chariots and suns are real and related as they share shape.

Seeing as you take yourself too seriously, I'll help: I really don't care what the sun decides to morph into in my imagination or in the future. Right now it's a sun and I'm not going to deny that reality just because it may one day, which may never come, become a wheel.
