Some bearded American pillocks are objecting to the idea of Mumsnetters talking about feminism. Hadley Freeman and other feminists are doing an excellent job of responding.

"Gender-related carveouts in law" just means it is illegal in some places in the US to ask 'shall I be mother?' when carving the roast

Grin at least we have a sense of humour, unlike these po faced arrogant beards.

ResisterRex · 24/03/2022 10:34

The '4chan for middle class white women' is a good one. Also the Death Star.

But the day is young, let's not pick a winner too soon.

Artichokeleaves · 24/03/2022 10:34

Bit of an own goal there..... Grin

And the usual quite stunning lack of self awareness and optics.

Rightsraptor · 24/03/2022 10:35

'Hands off my gender-related carveouts'.

Datun · 24/03/2022 10:35

Telling that they are concerned that there is 'a coordination point' for women to talk, isn't it?

Must keep the laydees permanently on the back foot, otherwise what they think, feel and say might gain some sort of unimaginable traction.

The horror.

I never realised how fearful men were of women actually being able to push back.

BettyBotte · 24/03/2022 10:36

My goodness how heartening it is to see so many men so passionate about women's rights. But hang on, it's only trans women's rights they're passionate about isn't it? Not boring bog standard, uterus having women's rights that men throughout history have generally acted to restrict, dismiss or remove. Hmmm men acting like men have acted throughout human history, being misogynistic authoritarians, trying to shut women up while claiming, and being applauded for, their moral purity? Us uppity, outspoken bleeders are just the modern day witches who should be burned at the stake for the better good of society.

"Mumsnet: an elite force of expert specialists ready to raise human beings every single day of the week".

Brilliant!

ReeseWitherfork · 24/03/2022 10:38

It really irks me that there are tweets criticising Mumsnet users based on the feminism boards being predominantly about trans issues. Apparently us feminists don't talk about much else. It irks me because there are plenty of feminism-related threads in other boards but they don't get moved. MNHQ has a habit of moving any trans issues to the feminism boards so it becomes skewed. Feminism on Mumsnet isn't restricted to trans issues, it's just that the boards aren't used in the way these Twitter users think. Plenty of feminism related topics all over the site.

PermanentTemporary · 24/03/2022 10:39

As ever, the lack of Les Dawson gifs on twitter is simply unforgivable.

AmericanSlang · 24/03/2022 10:39

American beardy bros are the worst 😂 Mumsnet is apparently the Anglophone divergence co-ordination point (yes it does sound like an Xbox Call of Duty side mission)

HadleyFreeman;
''Really glad you men are sorting this out. While you’re here, maybe you could do something about the crushing of US women’s access to abortion and the lack of maternity leave in the US? That’s the kind of stuff UK women discuss on Mumsnet''

BraveBananaBadge · 24/03/2022 10:41

What is gaining traction on the thread is screen grabs of MN thread titles as conclusive proof of 'anti trans' discussion or 'trans panic' (interesting choice of phrase, isn't it?). Judging a book by its cover a bit there.

It's clearly too much to ask they click, read, even engage? Easier to fan the flames of online outrage with a quick RT than bother listening to anything women have to say though isn't it.

No kidding.

They will destroy your toilet brush, feed a family for a week (see The Magic Chicken), hand you your arse for being sexist or a doormat without boundaries, make sure you know which wellies leak and how to escape from the guy who is on the other side of the locked door who tried to kill you a few minutes ago while holding your hand through it, and explain your legal rights in detail while campaigning for the rights of women.

Female humans are pretty cool all in all.

they do? Hmm
MummBRaaarrrTheEverLeaking · 24/03/2022 10:46

Women talking. Women thinking! Together!! In a group! And not about babies or housework! Oh noes! Fetch the smelling salts!

Never ceases to amaze how many men think women should be nothing more than domestic sex robots, and the sheer hate when they realise we have brains, and we have power, especially when we come together and say no more of your bullshit.

Tough!

yourhairiswinterfire · 24/03/2022 10:46

Beardy Misogynists: ''Misogynist? How can I be a misogynist, all of my very best friends are transwomen!"

PermanentTemporary · 24/03/2022 10:46

The UK is a small society with an odd, incestuous media landscape that picks up particular issues and harps on them endlessly. People get jobs in British media because they already have contacts, and by contacts I mean close relatives as a rule. That happened even before social media got involved to intensify the process. US media is a bigger landscape though has some of the same issues as print media business contracts sharply.

Print media guy publishes clickbait on twitter is not surprising. Throwing shade on British women is not surprising. Trashing women owned business is not surprising. The lack of interest and insight is depressing though.

This kind of nonsense doesn't wash though since within a couple of posts someone will point out that this is absolute fiction.

Activists kicked off about being desperate to talk about feminism without the nasty bits.

HQ provided that.

Activists ensured that there was one separate pen in which all the stuff they disagree with is funnelled and now use screenshots of it as propaganda in their further attempts to try and silence women.

What an interesting set of choices to be sure. Most informative.

CatrinVennastin · 24/03/2022 10:49

@CatherinaJTV I've just been reading through the twitter threads and even aged 49 I am still shocked at how much men hate women having place for themselves to talk and share experiences.

Yes. MN is not restricted to the trans naughty corner. Do you read any of the rest of it, where women discuss everything related to being a female parent?

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 24/03/2022 10:51

Any beardy fucker can start a thread with a dodgy thread title and screen shot it before it comes down. We've had a few of those appear very late at night or in the early hours (suggestive of a possible North American origin, given time zones). I'm a bit of an insomniac so see quite a lot of the early hours activity.

WelcomeMarch · 24/03/2022 10:51

Ah, maybe we don't much discuss US abortion rights and maternity, more UK abortion rights and maternity. Is that what you meant?

I know for a fact I've done both on here.
