Great article in Spiked Online about Mridul Wadwha's latest shenanigans:

www.spiked-online.com/2022/02/01/the-thought-police-are-here/

To briefly summarise:

  • Mridul was born male
  • Mridul is legally male with no GRC
  • Mridul is the CEO of Edinburgh Rape crisis
  • Mridul claims women who want female only rape crisis services are bigoted and should 'reframe their trauma'
  • The CEO of a domestic violence charity Nicola Murray stopped referring women to Mridul's rape crisis service due to Mridul's misogyny
  • Mridul reported Nicola Murray to the police for committing a hate crime
  • The police actually visited Nicola Murray to question her thinking

Aha! So you do know he's a bloke, so why are you posting his choice of song titles in response to Datun? Did you think we didn't?

As an example of how frequently the phrase is used in popular culture.

Maybe it's just a trademark of the kind of mind that can deny the right to request a female examiner to a shaking, traumatised woman on the worst day of her life.

Is that an attempt at a slur against me, or Mridul, or Sandy Brindley who runs Rape Crisis Scotland?

DdraigGoch · 06/02/2022 22:57

@Waitwhat23

Nah, it's Scotland
Don't worry though, just like the Legoland Discovery Centres in Manchester and Birmingham for those too far from the main park; Gender Ideology World has an offshoot in Brighton and is building another in Bristol.

Popular culture is rather accepting of sexual violence, yes.

Is that an attempt at a slur against me, or Mridul, or Sandy Brindley who runs Rape Crisis Scotland?

So you think it would be a bad thing to deny the right to request a female examiner to a shaking, traumatised woman on the worst day of her life?

Clymene · 06/02/2022 23:04

Sally Brindley. Her name is Sally Brindley @barleybadminton. Please try to get it right.

I have said twice already that I would not have opposed the amendment which is where this attempt at a slur comes from. We've also discussed at legnth why Sandy Brindley from Rape Crisis Scotland criticised the amendment and it had nothig to do with attempting to deny women the right to a female examiner - a right they currently do not have for reasons that are nothing to do with trans women.

DialSquare · 06/02/2022 23:14

Is this the same Sandy Brindley mentioned in this article?

www.scottishlegal.com/articles/employment-tribunal-finds-woman-suffering-from-anxiety-unfairly-dismissed-from-rape-crisis-scotland

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 06/02/2022 23:30

No, we really didn't discuss at length. Both you and Ms B seem to be under the impression that someone under the aegis of RCS condemning the amendment constitutes a convincing argument no matter what they say, and you don't have to actually make an argument of any quality.

I have gone over this many times, and the only reason to oppose that amendment with such passion is if you want to leave a loophole open that will permit a rape victim to be told she's transphobic for rejecting a particular examiner.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 06/02/2022 23:34

Mridul changed political parties over it. That is how strongly they felt about a six word amendment. Those words?

"For the word 'gender', use sex".

I’ve just come across this online - I can’t attest to the reliability of the source, but I thought I’d reproduce it here as some of you might find it interesting:

The Secret Diary of an Anti-Transphobe (aged 52 and 3/4)

Sunday 6th February

Excellent work on Mumsnet today taking on the deplorable vipers 🤠

They kept coming at me with Facts and Reasonable Arguments, but MAN I showed them who’s boss! Those damned uppity women, they will persist in thinking they’ve got something worth saying or something worth listening to, they keep thinking that their lived experience should count for something, and that they, as mere women, know anything about feminism - but I showed them just how wrong they were EVERY SINGLE TIME!

They are such transphobic, racist, misogynistic, middle class FIENDS it’s really hard work to go and engage with their hatefulness, but SOMEONE has to go and fly the flag for truth and progress and all that is good and right and just in the world, and right now that someone just happens to be Yours Truly.

And I am honoured, really, that the job falls to me if by doing it I can spare any of my trans siblings a drop of pain, a drop of the poison these harpies inflict on the poor, suffering trans community. Honoured. Because some women really do matter more than others and it’s time this transphobic cesspit of a world recognised that.

I pride myself on NEVER conceding they have a point, these witches, no matter how “sincerely” they make their case, or what lengths of fabrication I have to go to to show what monsters they really are under their cloak of “reasonable concerns”! It’s a good tactic - no, a great one - and I’m sure it really works!

I think I will have made a lot of people think again today. I have shown them just how much hateful bigotry is out there and I’m sure I will have convinced a fair few lurkers to get off the fence and take up the good fight.

I will sleep well tonight, in the safe knowledge of a job well done. Tomorrow the girls are coming round for an antifa Tupperware party, so it’ll be Marigolds on, ready to rid this place of literal dirt, just as I was ready for the noble work of ridding MN of transphobic dirt today!

Happy days. Goodnight, Diary.

"But I'm prepared to concede that perhaps this is a generational and cultural thing. It's a phrase used all the time in hip hop and in popular culture. No-one using it means it literally, it is not a serious demand, it just means fuck off. I do think it's probably rooted in both misogyny and homophobia in that it is presumed sucking a dick is unpleasant and something no-one would would want to do - much like eat shit which is often used in the same way. But it is not intended as a threat by those who use it, although perhaps it is understandable it may be perceived that way by someone from a different culture or generation."

Hi, young American gal here! I can bet we're from the same generation (unless you're a child).

Women are NOT saying this to each other. Hip Hop culture was born from and thrives off of misogyny. You cannot seriously think it represents the masses or is any excuse/justification for violent behavior. Rappers are always talking about fucking the police, busting a cap in yo ass, fucking bitches and getting money... does this make any of it realistic or appropriate? Does it make violence, rape, theft, murder acceptable?

radriver · 07/02/2022 00:33

The phrase is nothing more than an aggressive male threat. "Suck my dick" = shut up woman and be useful by being my sex toy

I'm still about 3/4 of the way through this thread. So many brilliant responses that deserve careful reading.

I want to applaud RoaringtoLangClegintheDark's post at 12:42.

But I wonder how many TRAs understand, or can deal with, the fact that the GRA was never about them at all. Maybe that's a factor, along with their hatred of women, that results in their hissy fits.

Datun · 07/02/2022 00:50

Yep, it's as I noted, barley, it's not surprising that you don't get it.

It's entirely predictable that you think sexual threats are a generational and cultural thing.

Not a woman thing.

I can't believe anyone would actually try to argue otherwise- especially on a thread where we are discussing rape crisis centres. Disgusting to say the least.

And as for anonymous trolls: these phrases have also been on placards and scrawled on pavements by TRAs. Both Tara Wolf and "Cathy Brennan" made threatening tweets before attempting (and succeeding in Wolf's case) to carry out violence on real life.

FUCK.OFF. With this minimising shit.

Datun · 07/02/2022 08:53

I can. I also don't believe for a single second that barley believes it. I do however think barley loves saying it.

And on that note, I'm off to have coffee with Bunbury.

DomesticatedZombie · 07/02/2022 09:29

TRA and Gender Ideology World is totalitarian, authoritarian and brooks no dissent nor consideration for any one other than the favoured select few. TRAs and their supporters are not in the least but interested in human rights for anyone else, or equality or even equity it's all about power and control.

Yep. 100%. It's startling that when women try to say that they have equal rights under the Equality Act this is called 'transphobic' and bigoted. Really startling. It's perpetually astonishing to me that there genuinely are people who would not afford women the same rights as others. I don't know if I'll ever understand it.
