@ThatSunnyCorner

Labour has always traditionally done well with younger voter. Younger women, on the whole are more likely to be TRA. Like all political parties running up to an election they are only interested in votes. Labour is a lost cause on this issue.

This. I don't think he's believes what he is saying for a single second, but Labour's only hope is the vote of young people. He's trying to appeal to them. Whilst throwing women under the bus. Clearly we are expendable collateral damage and that'll be yet another spoiled ballot from me.

The Boomers won't vote for Labour so they just try and appeal to the millenials and gen-z. It won't win them an election though.
OvaHere · 26/09/2021 10:17

I don’t believe for one second that the majority of transpeople agree with what is being demanded/done in their name.

Sorry but I just don't think this is the case. I know it's a nice idea to think that but the history of lobbying by trans orgs going back many decades suggests otherwise.

Artichokeleaves · 26/09/2021 10:18

Never speak about biological reality, people’s feelings are far more important.

Not women's feelings though. While at the same time, don't mention sex existing.

He's out of his mind. Most people not soaked in all this and the politics of it will hear 'you shouldn't say only women have a cervix' and think - but that's a fact , that's ridiculous!

This will be what finally buries Labour.

SusannaM · 26/09/2021 10:19

You'll never agree with any leader on everything. Democracy is hold your nose and vote or stay at home and don't bother.

The problem is some issues are a line in the sand and are beyond holding your nose over. I can compromise with the best of them, but women's rights are too important to me.

OvaHere · 26/09/2021 10:23

Why did Marr go so easy on Starmer compared to Davey last week?

Has someone higher up had a word with him after last week or is it his personal bias creeping in (e.g. he doesn't like Davey as much)?

He should have pushed him on why it cannot be said just as he did with Davey and adult human female.

Whatdidijusthear · 26/09/2021 10:25

Lurked for years but just joined after watching KS on Marr.

I have decided to respond to every Labour supporting communication with one word - WHACK

Women Have Cervixes Keir.

Franca123 · 26/09/2021 10:25

I just find it endlessly fascinating watching their seemingly intelligent, functioning people go along with the nonsense. What is going on I their minds?!

Thingybob · 26/09/2021 10:25

Just discussed this with a reasonably intelligent married man, educated to degree level and works at a professional level. His response was "what's a cervix? If he doesn't know how are we supposed to educate children without using the word woman?

AnyOldPrion · 26/09/2021 10:26

Can someone please explain to me how the ‘Trans community are the most marginalised community of all.’

From where I stand this ‘community’ has the ear of and funding from governments, political parties, major institutions, schools, big businesses, charities, the police, healthcare, big tech - social media. Laws are in the process and have been changed, mainly at the detriment of other groups. That doesn’t exactly sound marginalised to me.

Oddly enough, I could see that these two apparently opposing statements might both contain some truth. The extremist activists who are pushing for men to have women’s rights, and access to all women’s spaces, on demand, without gatekeeping, do indeed appear to have a great deal of éminence grise type power. They are using it to push for the rights they want, which may not remotely be rights that will benefit the majority of people who are transitioning.

And indeed, because they are turning “trans rights” into a massively contentious issue, which tramples over the rights of others, they are indeed building resentment against the wider trans community.

It’s arguable that a large percentage of the reported rise in “hate incidents” are both part and parcel of, and being created by, their push for “rights” that the vast majority of the population can see are not rights at all. Ironically, they are likely a driver of the marginalisation of transitioning people.

Whatdidijusthear · 26/09/2021 10:26

Or even Women Have A Cervix Keir…..see I’m so cross I messed up my own slogan!

MidsomerMurmurs · 26/09/2021 10:28

Your vote is dependent on someone's opinion on Trans issues?

You'll never agree with any leader on everything. Democracy is hold your nose and vote or stay at home and don't bother

We’re talking about women’s rights. It’s a fairly basic starting point isn’t it. I certainly will not hold my nose and vote for any party who refuses to acknowledge women’s rights.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 26/09/2021 10:30

Keir's decided to support toddler policitcs:

No mummy, naughty mummy, don't say that word mummy . It's so bloody tedious and makes him look like a prat.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 26/09/2021 10:30

toddler politics that would be ...

HappyGoPlucky · 26/09/2021 10:31

It would be really lovely if we could have a conversation about women's rights without it always being moved straight to trans rights after about 10 seconds.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 26/09/2021 10:33

He’s a mealy mouthed hypocrite. He’s knows exactly what a woman is

Why is every political party in this country such a binfire?

And yes I’m sick to death of “the most marginalised evah” line. Ppl are sleeping on the streets, there are ppl with learning difficulties in care homes who haven’t seen their families in months, there are single parents living on benefits in mould infested shit holes. No one’s lighting up buildings for them are they? Or getting a list celebrities tweeting about how much help they need meanwhile every magic circle law firm & finance institution in the country along with the NHS, the media & local government are fully on board with TWAW

most marginalised ever my fat wobbly arse!!

Datun · 26/09/2021 10:33

Can someone please explain to me how the ‘Trans community are the most marginalised community of all.’

Its risible. Rapists in women's prisons, men beating women (and beating them up) in sport and knowing that rape and death threats go unsanctioned, are the polar opposite of marginalised.

OvaHere · 26/09/2021 10:34

So sick of hearing politicians spout this most marginalised crap when the whole ideology is the epitome of luxury beliefs.

TrifleCat · 26/09/2021 10:34

So now we are stuck with a Tory government for the foreseeable.

Fucking arseholes. When will Labour ditch this??

Tabitha005 · 26/09/2021 10:35

@NorthernNic

That's the final straw. Despite my reservations I voted Labour at the last GE but not now. For future elections what are writing on soiled ballots? Only Women Have A Cervix??
@NorthernNic - same. Labour have lost my vote and I have nowhere to put it. I'm officially politically homeless for the first time in my voting life.
Faffertea · 26/09/2021 10:35

Well he’s shit the bed on that one hasn’t he?
After last week’s response the Ed Davey’s comments you’d think anyone serious about becoming PM would have looked at that and seen an opportunity. But no.
And how dare he tell us what can and can’t be said? Fuck off with that Keri.
You’re a disappointing excuse for a prostate haver and no leader at all.

Faffertea · 26/09/2021 10:35

*Keir

Imnobody4 · 26/09/2021 10:40

Here's a transcript from Mirror journalist. I can't believe he can be so stupid.

Which is why he will never speak up for Rosie Duffield. Labour only won Canterbury, with a tiny margin and after more than a century of right wing party allegiance, because of the successful mobilisation of the youth vote at the university campus (overlooking the methods they employed Hmm). I doubt they’ll win again with Rosie standing as MP, and certainly not if the party leadership back her. Definitely under bus throwing.

Not only do many people not know what a cervix is, there is no way of identifying who has one if you cant talk about biology.

If I have two children, which, if any, do I talk to about future smear tests? What am I basing it on??

ElizabethTudor · 26/09/2021 10:43

I am finding it mildly amusing, though, that KS has been autocorrected on this thread to Keith and Keri!
