Wow.... So refreshing to read such straightforward, sensible points. She's a brave woman for sticking her head above the parapet.

Very brave of her given she will now have a metaphorical target on her back! She can expect the backlash on social media.
No comments on the article yet but I will check in later on that.

This is brilliant! Thank you Lisa Townsend for speaking up for women and girls! Flowers

HollyGrail · 22/08/2021 06:27

Wow, she doesn't mince her words. Very brave.

GinUnicorn · 22/08/2021 06:34

Fantastic. It shouldn’t be brave to say this but here we are.

littleburn · 22/08/2021 06:46

Thank you Lisa! What she says is absolutely fair and common sense. Pretty hard for anyone to pick holes in that argument, other than just screeching 'transphobe'.

Aparallaxia · 22/08/2021 06:51

I had to read about on it the Daily Mail... will it be on the Graun, I wonder...

LizzieSiddal · 22/08/2021 06:53

Great to see!

IckyPop · 22/08/2021 07:13

Wow! That is amazing to read. What a fantastic step forward. I was sceptical when these commissioners were introduced, but finally see the benefit. I'm a lurker, but had to post.

Signalbox · 22/08/2021 07:19

Does the fact she’s been elected mean she can’t be sacked?

Miniroofbox · 22/08/2021 07:23

Thank you Lisa.

GoodieMoomin · 22/08/2021 07:39

Wow, she's brilliant! More power to.you, Lisa!

Lynnikins · 22/08/2021 08:11

Came onto MN to post this very article with such positive news, but see NonnyMouse1337 got here before me.

Great news; hope Lisa stays in post, and that people listen.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/08/2021 08:15

Lisa Thanks thank you for listening. Isn't is strange that although we have sent letters and emails to our MPs and Lisa has received such a deluge in her political role, that many MPs claim to have had no concerns raised? Hmm

FrancescaContini · 22/08/2021 08:19

Thank you, Lisa, for being the voice of reason, common sense and most of all SAFEGUARDING women and girls.

I really really hope other media sources pick up on this.

The interesting thing in that article is what she says about being contacted by so many people. She says that it's the biggest issue the public are asking her about.

So does that mean that everyone else - all other police commissioners, various elected people, local government officials and MPs - are ignoring the biggest issue the public are raising with them?

TurquoiseBaubles · 22/08/2021 08:24

x-post with Eresh!

MsTSwift · 22/08/2021 08:27

Thank you Lisa.

Thought of myself as centre slightly left but on this issue the Conservatives are right.

Cailin66 · 22/08/2021 08:32

Isn't this just the best news to wake up to on a Sunday. Well done Lisa Townsend for being so brave. Flowers Thank you.

Turned · 22/08/2021 08:32

Thank you for the link. I have sent it to my newly elected PCC. Thank you Lisa 💐

IheartJKR · 22/08/2021 08:34

It means the message is getting thru. And the strong women of Mumsnet who write the letters, garden and lobby are having an effect.

Each one of us in our own way can effect change. So keep those emails and letters flowing to your local school, police, council, MP. They work. Slowly at first but eventually a small tide can become a tsunami.

Areyouseriousrightnow · 22/08/2021 08:42

This is absolutely brilliant I felt so relieved reading it. Thank you Lisa and Thankyou to all those who emailed her and reinforced the importance of this issue.

Jaysmith71 · 22/08/2021 08:47

@Signalbox

Does the fact she’s been elected mean she can’t be sacked?
Assuming she's not been involved in electoral fraud or made false declarations about her previous convictions, to take the example of two other Tory PCCs.
BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 22/08/2021 08:51

what a brave woman. everything she says is fair and reasonable. it shouldn't be brave to be fair and reasonable in public!
