Well it's all kicking off at the spa. An amazing woman behind the desk standing up for women and telling a man where to take his penis. I fear she will lose her job over this but it's a glorious way to go.

We also know there's no such thing as the right kind of victim.

They cant have a past. They have to cry but not too much or not to little either . And there can't be a sports career or education opportunity being undertaken by the accused either because its not right to ruin it fir them Hmm

Part of the reason rape convictions are so low in this country is because people don't believe what women say. Or indeed they believe it, but value the reputation/future potential of the man involved more than the woman. The instinct is to protect the male involved, rather than the woman - as we saw with the man in reception, as we see with the 'if you're uncomfortable with male junk, just don't look at male junk' mantras on social. Wilfully ignoring what we know about some men - which is that a) exposing themselves is a sexual thrill b) exposing themselves is a gateway to worse behaviour. We should not be teaching girls to mistrust their instincts to protect males. These apologists need to wake up.

It's quite starkly obvious how people are avoiding this issue because it's too difficult to confront. Their moral compasses are decidedly skewed.

Indeed - do they think discrediting women who speak out is anything new? It happens all the time in court.

Delphinium20 · 06/07/2021 08:16

Looks like even reporters are minimizing indecent exposure as they put traumatizing in air quotes and their editors put it in the 'social issues' section (apparently crimes against women and children don't deserve the investigations section).

The awful, awful reporting of this piece and the rife misogyny in it is appalling. I'm up late just fuming about it. This isn't reporting. WTF WaPost?!?!?

Haven't RTFT but I'm surprised so many people are on the side of PC Wayne Couzens' right to expose his penis...
All he needs to say now is "I'm a woman".

Helleofabore · 06/07/2021 08:18

I was horrified on another thread yesterday that people were discrediting the mother of the 6 year old because she spoke clumsily of her motivations for being there.

because ’she said she went nude with her daughter to be "culturally with it" because that's what Koreans do.

people felt ‘her’ experience was to be ignored.

Of course the first poster who posted that believed that there was no problems at all. Assuming the man was not doing anything wrong (other than being a man) I don't see the problem.

Women-only spaces should be protected, said Zac Boyer, manager of programs and outreach for the central Ohio-based LGBTQ organization Stonewall Columbus, but that doesn’t mean all women have the same genitals. “If you don’t want your child to see a variety of bodies, don’t take them to naked spaces,” Boyer said.

FOTTFSOF Zac.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 06/07/2021 08:25

Zac is very silly I think.

Beefcurtains79 · 06/07/2021 08:25

The Washington post also had the story the other day about how kids should be exposed to kinks at pride didn’t it?

What a nonce rag.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 06/07/2021 08:26

Yes it was one of their writers. She has a trans partner (not sure about the details and don’t know if she has kids). Ho him. I dont think it went down all that well though.

American 'progressives' are so liberal their brains have fallen out. They're headed for a shitstorm.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 06/07/2021 08:30

I and this was the weekend there were interviews about a book written about the Children of God.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/07/2021 08:32

It had quite the ratio when I looked on Twitter.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 06/07/2021 08:33

Maybe she is trying to get out of every childminding and godparent gig she ever agreed to?

Do you remember the now deleted Salon article a few years back about the plight of "virtuous padeophiles" trying to position it as a sexual orientation and get rid of stigma? There was a bunfighty MN thread about it.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 06/07/2021 08:38

With people supporting it I guess?

Tesla73 · 06/07/2021 08:38

Excellent video on this and the protest from RuinedLeon

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/07/2021 08:39

With people supporting it I guess?

Some were, others were pointing out the dangers of framing it this way.

She does have children. In the kink article, she was saying how important it is that her toddler is exposed to people showing off their sexual kinks.

Difficult to find a thread that still exists but some discussion here:

Now if any of our kids went to nursery or school and mentioned to the teacher about... well think about the photo of the child holding up a large purple penis (at some rally or other)... hands up who would expect a visit from social services?

Clymene · 06/07/2021 09:18

This thread from a CSA survivor is a great (if hard) read: threadreaderapp.com/thread/1412316271698448386
