Apologies, I don't have a Telegraph subscription so can't read the full article but the bones of it from Twitter are that Ofsted have LEFT Stonewall.

Hopefully this is the beginning on the end of the gender ideology in our schools.

Bitheby

"but don't damage the rest of us in the process of expressing your righteous anger."

That sounds a bit hysterical to be honest, a bit like people who say failure to do everything they want is "literal violence". It is very narcissistic behaviour.
As for "pride month", which other group of people want one twelth of the year devoting to them.
Maybe I should demand that there be an "Andy month"?

In Canada it's now a whole season.

Ofsted have left Stonewall
AlfonsoTheMango · 05/06/2021 20:19

Flippin' heck. A whole ruddy season?

FannyCann · 05/06/2021 20:55

FF. A whole season. Though I get it with respect to supermarkets etc that support Pride. They can bedeck their halls with rainbows all summer until it's time to take it all down and replace it with Christmas decorations. Envy

MarshaBradyo · 05/06/2021 20:57

It’s great news, I’m so pleased the tide is turning

I wonder what the conversations are like there

napody · 05/06/2021 20:58

@KittyValentine

It went on to ask if primary schools would be marked as “requires improvement” or “inadequate” – the lowest grades in Ofsted inspections – if children were not made aware of “specifically, sexual orientation and gender reassignment”.

Fuck, Stonewall have some damn cheek!

Yes! The absolute definition of overreach. Backfired beautifully.
Xenia · 05/06/2021 21:04

Very good. There is no need for 5 year olds to be asked about trans issues during an Ofsted inspection. You go to school to learn maths and English etc

MrsOvertonsWindow · 05/06/2021 21:18

Great to see the MoJ abandoning ship. Unfortunately there are some other influential trans lobby groups who have managed to persuade officials that male born sex offenders must have access to women in prison for validation purposes. These groups need to be weeded out asap.

BoreOfWhabylon · 05/06/2021 21:26

Brick by brick...

It's flipping awful. The rainbows aren't so bad, though the advertisements all summer are annoying. But the worst is the CBC feels the need to include Pride related content all summer on the radio, so every show is full of stories in some way related. It's way over the top.

I just long for a stories that don't mention anyone's identity characteristics.

Paralithic · 05/06/2021 21:47

So Ofsted has done a 180° appraisal on Stonewall and found them “inadequate”?

Yippee.

snowcobra · 05/06/2021 22:00

This is wonderful news. It seems the tide is finally turning

HeavenHotel · 05/06/2021 22:03

Wonderful wonderful news!! The house of cards is toppling.

FannyCann · 05/06/2021 22:17

That is very grim SmokedDuck

Tanith · 05/06/2021 22:19

Schools and providers are under immense pressure to gain Good or Outstanding grades.
The fact that OFSTED was a Diversity Champion will have had a very strong influence. No wonder schools have been pushing so hard with Stonewall's agenda.

That any organisation should seek to interfere with inspections in this way is appalling. It should never have been allowed to happen. It's compromised the impartiality of OFSTED.
Are there any other lobby groups exerting this kind of influence?

MsFogi · 05/06/2021 23:39

Good news, we need the tide to continue to turn on Stonewall membership and hopefully a by-product will be ditching ridiculous pronouns in email signatures/LinkedIn bios.

I totally agree with you. It’s unacceptable that Ofsted were part of this.
CheshireSplat · 06/06/2021 07:14

@bitheby

Finding some of these replies alarming. There is nothing wrong with supporting Pride month by showing solidarity with minority groups. A lot of the women on the FWR boards are lesbian or bisexual and we still face prejudice and discrimination for that and education and awareness raising in schools is what we all fought for back in the day.

I don't think not wearing a rainbow is sticking it to the man of Stonewall. It's failing to support those kids in schools who are LGB, might grow up to be trans, have LGBT parents or family members. All of this still need to happen. Stonewall rightfully deserve the bad publicity they're getting but don't damage the rest of us in the process of expressing your righteous anger.

I second this. This gender discussion is important, but the subtleties being discussed here are way in advance of typical discussions that go on more widely, where homophobia still exists, where half of the parents in DD2's class were upset about the recent sex ed lesson they had.

I will be celebrating Pride and showing my support for gay colleagues and friends and gay people I don't know. Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater, there are an awful lot of bigoted people out there still.

EastWestWhosBest · 06/06/2021 08:55

I quite agree Cheshire.

LGB people need support and T is muddying the waters.

SirSamuelVimes · 06/06/2021 09:42

I used to love pride - when it was about the LGB. Now it's just as much about straight men with a puppy/rubber fetish who want to display this fetish around children.... Not so much.

I wholeheartedly support LGB people. Thank god for the arrival of the LGB Alliance - hopefully they will rise as Stonewall fall.

merrymouse · 06/06/2021 09:57

I think there has been a re-writing of history to suggest that homosexual people have experience discrimination because they are gender non conforming when in reality gender non conformity is feared to the extent that it signifies homosexuality.

CroydianSlip · 06/06/2021 11:52

I wonder whether schools that have wholeheartedly embraced Stonewall's version of inclusion and safeguarding are now going to reexamine their position?

There are primary schools reported to have been complicit in the social transitioning of young children. These children may well have very strong feelings about the cul de sac they find themselves in as they move to senior school and have no prospect of puberty blockers - that may have previously appeared guaranteed - due to recent legal cases. These schools may now be looking at their approach through a fresh lens if Ofsted is no longer toeing Stonewall's line. There are so so many adults and agencies who need to understand how they have failed their responsibilities.

highame · 06/06/2021 12:17

I think you'll find that support for lesbians has increased because of Stonewalls fight against women's rights. A big supporter of Stonewall here but not of their actions since the T became their star cause. I think the superstraight on reddit really did stir things up as it highlighted the plight of lesbians

Once the dust has settled, hopefully things will have moved forward and if they don't you'll have people like me causing a bit of a stink. Women's rights first please

Xenia · 06/06/2021 14:00

Smoked, I put on the Archers today on the radio and the first item was like an eco party political broadcast so I fast forwarded and then got into a gay discussion. Obviously these issues are important and I know the Archers was originally devised as partly state propaganda and to encourage farmers to follow the state's party line on issues relating to farms but these political messages in fiction can make things you only put on to relax hard to watch, as if you have been transported to North Korea for a political indoctrination sessions.

ScreamingMeMe

I have had my comment which you quoted at 20:17 yesterday deleted and I have no idea why.
I have no idea what the rules are anymore on this forum.
Your point was great, I totally agreed with it.

Leafstamp · 06/06/2021 21:09

andy I may be wrong, but I suspect it was because of the word beginning with n that has links to a Hunter in Greek mythology
