Apologies, I don't have a Telegraph subscription so can't read the full article but the bones of it from Twitter are that Ofsted have LEFT Stonewall.

Hopefully this is the beginning on the end of the gender ideology in our schools.

@FannyCann

I have to wear rainbow colours in this month!

Is that confined to a rainbow lanyard @PreservativeFree or do you have to go the whole hog and dress like a clown?

I'd just forget/lose the lanyard. Or get a colourful one supporting a different issue, like the sunflower lanyards which support hidden disabilities?

We are being issued with rainbow laces to wear on our lanyards but also expected to dress in rainbow colours on one day. Taking a stand and refusing would be a big problem and would mark me as a bigot who doesn't support inclusion.

I can't find a news article about Ofsted leaving and the reasons for it?

PreservativeFree · 05/06/2021 09:40

Sorry cross post, thank you.

@KaptainKaveman

Can anyone please explain why the word "mother" is considered offensive?
It implies that all female people who give birth are women, because only women can be mothers Some female people who give birth identify themselves as men and don't want to use the word mother so every woman needs to be ok with the word mother being erased from public life. Reasonable, right?
SirSamuelVimes · 05/06/2021 09:41

Swim England too?! Hurrah!

I think this domino effect of organisations getting the hell out from Stonewall shows that, actually, a lot of people who were signing up to this stuff weren't on board in the first place. They went along with it because they felt like they had to, and now they've got a chance to step away from the bullshit they are grabbing it with both hands.

I do hope that organisations such as LGB Alliance can "fill the gap" a little though. Ensuring LGB people aren't discriminated against in the workplace is important and it's not a done deal - there are still a lot of homophobic arseholes in the world - but it should no longer be a case of companies/organisations believing that 'do whatever Stonewall say' is a good strategy.

@MiladyBerserko

The problem is that the NHS is not a single thing, and it is devolved n Scotland so it won't be a single decision. And ScotGov are full on gender ideologues
The Telegraph article mentions that NHS HIghland has now left the scheme - they were listed on the Sex Matters page as a member. I'm not sure about the other boards in NHS Scotland but hopefully more will follow soon.

@ProfessorInkling

This has made my morning. I’m composing an email to my DS’s HT about the Stonewall champion membership and this is a great addition.
Could you post it?
NecessaryScene · 05/06/2021 09:49

because only women can be mothers

Fortunately the court spotted the logic error there. For people defining "woman" as "adult human female", the statement is true.

For people like Freddie McConnell, who do not define "man" and "woman" based as sex, the statement is not true, and Freddie has to realise that "men" as per their definition can be mothers.

Freddie is being pretty bigotted, basically, with their backwards gender stereotype of what a "mother" is. Mother is not a gendered role. (It's obviously sexed, but people who don't believe in sex may not spot that pattern...)

PearPickingPorky · 05/06/2021 09:49

It went on to ask if primary schools would be marked as “requires improvement” or “inadequate” – the lowest grades in Ofsted inspections – if children were not made aware of “specifically, sexual orientation and gender reassignment”.

Yes, very clear what is happening here.

They were intending to force schools into capitulating to their extremist position by telling schools "if you do not do what we say, your school will be rated Inadequate or Requires Improvement, no matter how good you are at everything else."

It's a very dark extortion, with a glittery rainbow disguise.

I'm gobsmacked at Stonewall's audacity. I can't believe they've got away with this for so long.

MiladyBerserko · 05/06/2021 09:49

Thanks Over, that's good news indeed. The teuchters would know what biology is, a lot of them being farmers.

And they would have gotten away with it too, if it hadn't been for those meddling wimmin

Freddie’s self-absorbed documentary was tragic to watch. F underwent a double mastectomy in order “to become a man”. Freddie then decided to have a baby. That poor baby.

I’m glad to see Nancy Kelly’s plan to be less confrontational around Trans issues going so well 😆

In all seriousness though, if I were a SW trustee with any brain cells, I’d be having kittens by now!!

Anyone with an interest in Swim England may find it interesting to know that their transgender guidance document is currently under review:

Datun · 05/06/2021 09:55

From the telegraph article:

A Stonewall spokesman said it was “proud to advocate for LGBT-inclusive education” and starting this in primary school “helps all children, especially those from LGBT families, feel included and learn to be accepting from a young age”.

'Learn to be accepting' - does this refer to trans parents? Because there are many children for whom it has been very traumatic.

What an amazing start to the weekend. Long may it continue 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

bitheby · 05/06/2021 09:57

@PreservativeFree Stonewall doesn't have the monopoly on rainbows. You can still support LGBT people (and that's still really important) without supporting Stonewall. Some of the children in your school will be LGBT or have LGBT family members and it's important not to throw the baby out with the bath water here. They need to know that they're in a safe environment and learn to respect diversity.

This can be done in a way that isn't indoctrinating them into believing in a harmful ideology.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 05/06/2021 09:57

That is very good news, and hopefully will at least partially stymie Stonewalls intended new focus on schools

Marguerite2000 · 05/06/2021 10:01

"KaptainKaveman* it's because any word that connects women to our biology is offensive to some TRAs. It reminds them that they can never be women in the biological sense, therefore those words must be replaced by gender neutral terms.

merrymouse · 05/06/2021 10:06

Freddie then decided to have a baby. That poor baby.

I disagree strongly with Freddie’s views and campaigning on gender, which I think are regressive and harmful to women. However I have no reason to believe that the baby isn’t loved and well cared for.

jay55 · 05/06/2021 10:07

I imagine any company/council/school having to carefully watch their bottom line will be jumping ship right now. Given they be in good company and so it won't be a repetitional blow to do so right now.

Howzaboutye · 05/06/2021 10:08

FannyCann easy clothes colour solution- wear an entirely white outfit. As that is representative of ALL the colours. As all the colours of the rainbow make white light.

However you may end up rather grubby by the end of the day in white at school!

doublehalo · 05/06/2021 10:16

@highame

I am a bit amused by the fact that at the start of Pride month where all and sundry are going OTT with their support, only to find Stonewall at the beginning of a widely reported scandal.

Now I want to make clear I am anti the war on women, I am not anti-gay or trans and hope that when we have defeated this madness, our opinion will be sought on how best to protect trans people, instead of the stealth used to step on our rights.

I am anti the war on women too but also anti the war on lesbian and gay children who are the ones who are being most damaged by Stonewall's unhinged campaign.
Mummyoflittledragon · 05/06/2021 10:21

@ProfessorInkling
Please post the letter. I’d like some help to address this with dd’s school.

doublehalo · 05/06/2021 10:23

Seems like companies and schools can save themselves a whole stack of money by ditching Stonewall and just getting on with things using their own common sense and decency and existing laws. With the added bonus of not getting sued in the future by women or kids they've damaged.

Wins all round.
