Ofsted have left Stonewall

Apologies, I don't have a Telegraph subscription so can't read the full article but the bones of it from Twitter are that Ofsted have LEFT Stonewall.

Hopefully this is the beginning on the end of the gender ideology in our schools.

You can't apply for a GRC until 18 so the protected characteristic of gender reassignment doesn't apply. So the argument about teaching children about the protected characteristics seems slight. I can see why Ofsted would want to ensure bullying wasn't happening but presumably they don't talk about maternity discrimination to 5 year old either.

MiladyBerserko · 05/06/2021 08:06

Good. Next job for Ofsted is to have a full assessment of these groups promoting 'diversity' in schools, including ensuring all teaching material has been assessed and made public.

That includes Stonewall, TIE, LGBT Youth Scotland, Allsorts and many more.

And there needs to be an end to these publicly funded organisations charging schools to be Gold Leaders or whatever the terminology is.

Whatstheweatherlike · 05/06/2021 08:06

Brilliant news! I don't often find myself agreeing with Ofsted, but they are absolutely right on this.

Whatwouldscullydo · 05/06/2021 08:06

Stonewall - "nice little school you have here. Wouldn't it be ashameit Ofsted had to give you an awful rating? Let's see how we can remedy that?"

The DofE view stonewall as an approved resource don't they? When it comes to teaching materials.

Could this mean that this changes now?

NecessaryScene · 05/06/2021 08:10

if children were not made aware of “specifically, sexual orientation and gender reassignment”.

We've seen other organisations (like the EHRC, IIRC) insisting that the Diversity Champions thing had no impact on their work - it was purely about their staff and their role as an employer.

But Stonewall are clearly trying to coerce government bodies into changing policy, and demanding money for the privilege - basically blackmail. "Wouldn't it be a shame if you lost your nice rainbow certificate?"

The organisation has clearly lost sight of what is ethically proper. Maybe Stonewall could have transitioned from its LGB lobbying past into a sort of more neutral "consultancy" role, but it cannot conduct QT lobbying through "consultancy".

That is not completely accurate. You indeed cannot get a GRC under 18, but affects your legal sex not whether you are protected by protected characteristic of gender reassignment (which is wider than just GRC). So you cannot be unlawfully discriminated against because of GR, but can be excluded if single sex exceptions used lawfully
Aethelthryth · 05/06/2021 08:12

This is excellent!

Flippin · 05/06/2021 08:14

Amazing. I'm currently challenging my school as they want to socially transition my daughter without my consent.

How utterly dreadful. Shock

WarOnWoman · 05/06/2021 08:17

Hallelujah.

I hope this is the beginning of Ofsted looking at affirmation model at schools as a safeguarding issue.

DfE need to pull their finger out. Some joined up thinking between the departments would be helpful too.

Do we know about Social Services? Are they/were they SW champions?

moomoogalicious · 05/06/2021 08:18

@BeingATwatItsABingThing yes we have raised a safeguarding concern

MangoSeason · 05/06/2021 08:19

@AnnaPa

Oh to be a fly on the wall in the Stonewall uk office right now.
I expect there is complete bewilderment about how they have been thwarted by little wimmins, especially persistent middle-aged ones who shouldn’t step out of their invisibility.

The fuckers didn’t see us coming.

InvisibleDragon · 05/06/2021 08:20

This is great news indeed

moomoogalicious · 05/06/2021 08:20

@Flippin yep. More common than most people realise unfortunately

Tibtom · 05/06/2021 08:22

A GRC is separate to the protected characteristic of gender reassignment so this can apply to children.

Only the protected characteristics of age and civil partnership/marriage do not apply in schools.

Tibtom · 05/06/2021 08:24

Do we know about Social Services? Are they/were they SW champions?

These are local authority run services so would depend on the local authority.

ProfessorInkling · 05/06/2021 08:29

This has made my morning. I’m composing an email to my DS’s HT about the Stonewall champion membership and this is a great addition.

WarOnWoman · 05/06/2021 08:31

Thanks, Tibtom. My local authority are SW Champions.

NecessaryScene · 05/06/2021 08:32

This shows the power of the Freedom of Information request. Fantastic work from the legal feminists. Grin

Stonewall didn't really think this through - with them doing this stuff with hundreds of public sector bodies, then that's hundreds of bodies that could be required to reveal Stonewall was up to.

Fortunately we didn't have an org like the ACLU to get in the way - they're busy suing people making and receiving FoI requests in the USA to stop statistics about males in women's prisons being released. Shock

PatsArrow · 05/06/2021 08:35

Yes NeccessaryScene I agree the FOI requests have been absolutely key here. It's been amazing.

MnaWoman · 05/06/2021 08:51

@MangoSeason that made me laugh! Now we just need to have TENI and BeLonGTo shifted out of schools in Ireland.

BeLonGTo tell teachers to promise confidentiality to students, tell teachers not to reveal to a parent of a child has come out as trans in school, states that mixed sex overnight accommodation should be allowed for trans students and that some trans students should be exempt from sport (that would be the females binding their chests and causing their bodies to be damaged)

KaptainKaveman · 05/06/2021 08:56

Can anyone please explain why the word "mother" is considered offensive?

PreservativeFree · 05/06/2021 08:57

I work in a school that supports Stonewall. I have to wear rainbow colours in this month! I've tried a couple of times to explain that it might not be a good idea and the reaction is always that I must be a bigot who doesn't support inclusion.

I know I should be able to put a decent argument together, but I've really struggled. Can anyone point me in the direction of a really straightforward summary of what the objections are?

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 05/06/2021 08:57

wow, this is fantastic news

it's like the lot of them are waking up from a spell

'we did what now?'

'paid thousands of pounds to be told that some people have pink brains'

'jesus'

Nonmaquillee · 05/06/2021 08:58

@BeingATwatItsABingThing

Amazing. I'm currently challenging my school as they want to socially transition my daughter without my consent.

I would hope the safeguarding aspect of schools would object massively to this as well.

I agree. It sounds dystopian.
