Even before all this, I thought that he was a thoroughly unpleasant human, with a lot of unresolved issues.

It is blindingly obvious that Frankie would love the deal Ricky has got with Netflix, being paid zillions to put put exactly what he likes.

Yes I think there's more than a touch of jealousy. Still, you get the speaking engagements with Owen Jones, Frankie, so in a way you're both winners.

Gervais can be offensive but there is so much more to his humour, including solid observation. He tells stories with warmth, humanity and emotional depth.

The BBC cannot afford Ricky any more so are left rehahabilitating second rate panel show bores like Frankie Boyle, absolving all his sins now he is a true believer of the new religion.

About 15 years ago I used to quite like his "edgy" humour - this was before any of his disgusting rape and disability comments (which he somehow seems to get a free pass for from a lot of the woke? )

I saw him live and he was utter shit as a comedian. Getting really defensive at the mildest heckles, everything was word- for- word the same as his panel show quips, really disappointing and just seemed to think shouting louder was the way out of it.

So, not just vile and violently misogynistic, crap at the basics of live comedy too.

Boyle is a massive hypocrite, he's been downright vile about disabled children and women rights. I suspect a lot of his ire towards Ricky Gervais is jealously, he will never have that level of success and he knows it.

I have never been a fan of his but he was probably funnier before he started grovelling to the BBC and doing the whole woke thing.

It does not seem surprising that he singles out a comedian who has a censorship free deal with netflix. Obviously he wants to impress the BBC with his trans right stance but Linehan would have been the more obvious target.
