Frankie Boyle

"Frankie has had many controversies in his career, including making jokes about the Queen and people with disabilities. Frankie says that it’s every comedian’s job, to different degrees, to, “take things that people would normally find offensive and make them funny.”

"Frankie does not have positive words to say about Ricky Gervais as a stand-up comedian. “If you’re a stand-up watching him, you feel like, ‘oh, that’s someone doing a version of what we do,’” he says. “But really, it’s that I saw him doing his routine about trans people and I thought it was very lazy [in a 2018 Netflix special, Gervais did a routine about Caitlyn Jenner and trans identity]. I would like him to have the same respect for trans people as he seems to have for animals. I don’t think that’s a lot to ask.”

One can only assume that it's fear of the trans mafia.

He's well aware of that, he once made a joke about it based on "trans fats".

Frankie Boyle lets us know who the really vulnerable people in society are by going after them with his vitriolic jokes. In many cases they can't answer back, or won't be listened to or taken seriously if they do. His reverence for the trans orthodoxy betrays a fear of being targeted by people/organisations who would have the power to damage his career.

This is so true.

Picking on vulnerable people who cannot defend themselves and then falling over himself to lick the arses of people he thinks have power.

What an absolute coward.

AnyFucker · 28/12/2020 13:49

He is a snivelling little arse licker. Shame on him.

zanahoria · 28/12/2020 14:23

It's Boyle's hypocrisy that is so breathtaking

and the BBC's who seem detrrmined to airbrush his past, describing all his offensive stuff as controversial to make him sound edgy.

The only thing about him that makes me laugh is how he is now determined to fit his act into their standards. He used to be the say what I like style of comedian and does seem jealous of Ricky who gets to do what he likes on Netflix and has not been near the BBC in years.

@BaronessWrongCrowd

Boyle is a massive hypocrite, he's been downright vile about disabled children and women rights. I suspect a lot of his ire towards Ricky Gervais is jealously, he will never have that level of success and he knows it.
Yup yup yup.

This attempted rebranding of him as Our New Woke King is astonishing. He can fuck off forever.

BuntingEllacott · 28/12/2020 14:32

Sub-Bernard Manning oik.

SunsetBeetch · 28/12/2020 14:33

@AnyFucker

He is a snivelling little arse licker. Shame on him.
Acts the big I Am but is just pathetic and desperate for fame and approbation underneath. Shocked I am not.
HecatesCats · 28/12/2020 14:35

I suspect a lot of his ire towards Ricky Gervais is jealously, he will never have that level of success and he knows it.

I can't imagine FB ever writing anything as subtle, funny and touching as After Life. Gervais is in a different league.

FannyCann · 28/12/2020 14:37

No doubt it's a sign of my age but when I listen to comedians (or maybe revisit the Two Ronnies) who manage to be very funny without being the least bit offensive then I think that is talent.

I happened upon this short series listening to the radio in the car. I thought it was truly clever and very funny. A female comedian, who has really thought, researched and planned a great series. And I actually shed a tear at one point, musing in scrolling back in time, before the bad things happen, that time of expectation.

I really recommend it.

Vermeil · 28/12/2020 14:39

Ooh, he jelly.
Also, he’s obviously been hanging around with Juicy too much.

FannyCann · 28/12/2020 14:39

Oh, and Frankie couldn't produce something of this quality if he self isolated on a desert island with a pile of research material for ten years.

ChestnutStuffing · 28/12/2020 14:42

I think it's true that in comedy it is possible to make funny jokes about controversial or sensitive subjects. Though it's not the only kind of worthwhile humour.

I also don't necessarily subscribe to the whole punching up/punching down thing.

But what absolutely must always be the case is that the jokes are actually funny. Or it's not comedy.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/12/2020 14:44

I think it's more the hypocrisy of arseholes like Boyle, ChestnutStuffing.

michelle1504 · 28/12/2020 14:55

Neither of them are funny. Ricky's show, 'Afterlife' was brilliant, but I don't find him funny.

Abitofalark · 28/12/2020 15:18

He was using a disabled child to target his mother with venomous abuse, not to abuse the child or disability per se. Women are the target of for his freedom to hate and abuse which is given free rein while he is embarrassingly keen to flaunt his credentials for approval as ardently anti racist.

His behaviour is foul and for the BBC to use public money to pay this creature shows the BBC as despicable also.

NotTerfNorCis · 28/12/2020 15:53

He's always been a bully and a stinking hypocrite. Thinks he can say what he likes but censor other people. A narcissist. Repulsive.

Deliriumoftheendless · 28/12/2020 16:02

@HecatesCats

You'd have to have overdosed on Kool-aid to truly believe that a white middle class mtf transwoman is more vulnerable than a severely disabled child. He's full of shit.
This is correct.

The joke itself-

Boyle said that Price married cage-fighter Alex Reid because she needed someone strong enough to protect her from her son's sexual advances.

Although I believe that was not the exact wording.

Thehollyandtheirony · 28/12/2020 16:14

Ricky Gervais is actually funny.

Frankie Boyle reminds me of someone I know in real life. He tries to play the clown but it falls flat every single time because he’s just not funny. He also has serious inadequacy issues.

laudemio · 28/12/2020 16:23

Francie Boyle? Who he?

GivesNoFox · 28/12/2020 16:31

I remember one trans joke Boyle made on 'Mock the week' years ago, the punchline was still at the expense of actual women though.

It went something like:

'Did you hear about the bloke who went to court to advocate for his own sex change? He won and had all the surgeries to look female. Now he regrets it and wants all of them reversed!

Typical woman, can't make up her mind one way or the other!'

I'm paraphrasing but it was some shite like that.

ArabellaScott · 28/12/2020 16:33

@laudemio

Francie Boyle? Who he?
He was a comedian, from Glasgow, who made a name for 'shock jock' type of patter, saying the unmentionable, etc. Latterly has been hired for political articles by the Guardian.
BraveBananaBadge · 28/12/2020 16:37

Also, uses block lists on Twitter to avoid people (women) who have absolutely no interest in him in the first place

Saucery · 28/12/2020 16:41

No doubt it amuses him greatly to have woke female comedians like Sarah Pascoe and Katie Ruffle fawning over him because of his stance on transwomen.

AnyFucker · 28/12/2020 16:41

He's a washed-up nob jockey

Neolara · 28/12/2020 16:57

Has anyone listened to his interview with Louis Theroux? I thought it was pretty interesting. His childhood sounds bleak.
