Thousands of feminists have come out on the streets in support of trans rights. Gender critical events can barely muster dozens. Pretty much every major feminist and woman's organisation both domestically and internationally supports trans rights. An internet forum, a twitter clique and a handful of newspaper columnists and washed up celebrities do not a consensus make.

OldCrone · 03/11/2020 21:57

Do you not think this might escalate the problem? That a gender nonconforming woman in the women's or a gender nonconforming man in the men's might get harassed because someone decides theres a place for freaks like you now. As someone whose been on the end of that kind of shit quite a lot I could well imagine it happening.

I'm sure you know a lot more than I do about what happens if a gender nonconforming man uses a men's toilet. But women don't police other women's gender nonconformity in the women's toilets. Even in the article you posted about the lesbians being harassed in a women's toilet, it wasn't other women who did that, it was a male security guard.

You really are showing how little you know about women.

Seems to be an echo on the site tonight.

Escapeplanning · 03/11/2020 22:03

@HecatesCats

Escape I'm going to join you and dig for Ann whenever jj claims to be speaking for feminists. Most of them in fact.
Brilliant.

The lesbians in the other articles I posted said differently. You really are showing how little you know about what life is like for visibly gender nonconforming people.

Women will be guaranteed access to female-only lavatories in public buildings, the government has said.

And women includes trans women, unless theres an amendment to the Equalities Act proposed that I haven't seen yet.

OldCrone · 03/11/2020 22:05

You don't get to speak for all women, lots of women, most women in fact and certainly most feminists strongly disagree with you.

Do you have a source for this? Where all women were surveyed and 'most' women and 'most' feminists disagreed with us? Or have you just made that up?

Oh dear.

Well you know what, JJ, all I can advise is a little patience.

I disagree that this means transwomen with GRCs. You, on the other hand can spend the next umpteen years trying to make that little concept workable.

OldCrone · 03/11/2020 22:08

😂😂😂 you really are the gift that keeps on giving.

Feminists? I thought it was 'young feminists'. I'm sure a previous poster mentioned JJ's 'I'm in with the in crowd' sound track.

Says the poster who is incapable of even defining the word lesbian.

Not only do you know nothing about women, or lesbians, you don't even have a word for them in your language.

Datun · 03/11/2020 22:11

An internet forum, a twitter clique and a handful of newspaper columnists and washed up celebrities do not a consensus make...

... and the Government of the country who agree that "Women will be guaranteed access to female-only lavatories in public buildings".

The answer is still no.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 03/11/2020 22:15

I am at the bus stop smiling to myself as I read Datun's posts Wine

Heres an open letter signed by 500 organisations that provide womens services supporting trans inclusion: endsexualviolence.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/STATEMENT-OF-ANTI-SEXUAL-ASSAULT-AND-DOMESTIC-VIOLENCE-ORGANIZATIONS-IN-SUPPORT-OF-EQUAL-ACCESS-FOR-THE-TRANSGENDER-COMMUNITY.pdf

Where's yours?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 03/11/2020 22:19

Did they ask the vulnerable women who use the services? Did they allow women to complete the surveys anonymously? If not they are practically worthless.

Facefullofcake · 03/11/2020 22:19

Can we see the uk version please?
Signed by not trans women service users?

persistentwoman · 03/11/2020 22:19

I think a couple of women commented about women's rights on the JK petition?
Or was it nearly 21,000?? Grin

Escapeplanning · 03/11/2020 22:20

Has anyone read Dr Ems piece on the relentless gaslighting women married to transitioners go through? There is a thread worth a look.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 03/11/2020 22:20

Women who are victims of male violence have consistently stressed the value of a female-only space for their recovery in previous research that people bothered to do.

Imnobody4 · 03/11/2020 22:21

Kemi Badenoch The Exchequer Secretary and Equalities Minister
In the H of C

The government believes that the protection of single-sex spaces, as provided for in the Equality Act, is important. The Act makes clear that providers have the right to restrict the use of spaces on the basis of sex, and exclude transgender people, with or without a Gender Recognition Certificate, if this is justified.

At this stage, we are not proposing further legislative guidance but we will keep this under review. The Equality and Human Rights Commission is independent of the government and makes its own decisions in relation to drafting the guidance that it creates and publishes.

Your figures suggest that under ten service providers in every US state, on average, signed. How would we work out the uk equivalent to your figures? Population density? Geographical spread?
