If you read that autostraddle piece there's lots of women in the comments talking about pushing their chests out and trying to look feminine when using women's toilets because they are worried about being accused of being men.

Hahaha!! I'm genuinely wetting myself. That's fricken hilarious.

I've just asked my daughter if she sticks her bust out when going to the loo, lest she be accused of being a bloke. 🤣🤣🤣

And I've warned her, that the solution, when she no doubt starts to do that, will be to have mixed sex loos!!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 03/11/2020 12:11

And all because some males don't have the decency to respect women's boundaries, privacy and dignity. What a shame the country has to suffer.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 03/11/2020 12:13

My last was following on from Datun's post about us being a global pariah for not indulging male whims.

Floisme · 03/11/2020 12:13

The answer's still no jj.

Enn. Oh.

Good day.

Datun · 03/11/2020 12:17

I mean, it's the height of enough. How much more can we bear? Not only are we single handed responsible for decimating the fashion industry, the entertainment industry, and the tech industry, together with ensuring that no one who is trans or any of their friends or family come here, we now how to stick our tits out in the toilet???

Escapeplanning · 03/11/2020 12:29

to the socially expected appearance of those born female

It's fascinating to look at the clauses jj writes as they are incomprehensible. What is a socially expected appearance? That you are wearing clothes? Your sex characteristics aren't exposed? Your bum crack isn't showing? Is builders bum male only or equal opportunity? We should be told.

DaisiesandButtercups · 03/11/2020 12:31

Pat Robertson predicted this in 1992 you know

“Feminism is a socialist, anti-family, political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians.”

Maybe JJ is a fan of his?

It’s amazing how apparently powerful AND powerless we seem to be...

We’re a right wing minority allegedly but gosh, look at the influence we seem to have!

DaisiesandButtercups · 03/11/2020 12:32

Just like Pandora and Eve, women are the root of all evil.

Halloween Hmm
Escapeplanning · 03/11/2020 12:34

if someone with the wrong genitals were to use them.

No-one has the "wrong" genitals.

Why would a business provide toilets if they were at risk of being sued/prosecuted if someone with the wrong genitals were to use them.

Someone has an extremely vivid imagination.

Cos otherwise they won't have any customers? Or a business, livelihood or any money.

Just a wild guess tho.

Actually its mostly men who are concerned about this: link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s12147-016-9181-6

Funny how the whole of patrarchy is on your side

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 03/11/2020 15:36

Has anyone else been laughing helplessly through a large number of posts on thsi thread, all of them by the same poster?

Thanks for cheering me up on a day I'm waiting to find out whether a country with 300,000,000 inhabitants is coming to its senses after a four-year fever-dream, jjjwosssit.

Datun · 03/11/2020 17:39

Well, according to jj women will have to stick their bust out, and presumably, men will have to stick their penis out, in order for everyone to recognise exactly what sex they are so they don't make some hideous public convenience faux pas.

Or.

Just do what you've been asked and use the facilities designated for your sex.

Its a conundrum.

So do you have anything to say to the gender nonconforming women who don't want this and believe it will put them at risk of harassment? Are they acceptable collateral damage?

jj where are all these gender non conforming women who, as you say, argue against toilets based on birth sex because they are 'bad for women'? You still haven't provided any evidence that there are 'plenty' of these women.

Datun · 03/11/2020 17:55

Don't be silly, JJ. We do not have to stick our bust out for people to know we're women. As much as you like to think it, it's not the case.

Perhaps you're not aware of this, and given your track record, it wouldn't surprise me, but flat-chested women have used public conveniences since they were invented.

HTH.

OldCrone · 03/11/2020 18:02

Because of how they would have to be policed.

This is where you seem to be missing the point jj. What you're doing when you say stuff about toilets having to be 'policed' is assuming that when there is a rule about males not being allowed to use women's toilets, some males will try to use them anyway. Probably some would, but what sort of person would do that?

You're making the assumption that 'transwomen' will try to use women's toilets even though they know that they shouldn't, so you're showing that you don't believe 'transwomen' are decent people who will abide by the normal rules of society, but that they are unpleasant people who will try to force themselves into places where they know they shouldn't be and where they are not welcome.

I'd say that's somewhat transphobic of you jj.

OldCrone · 03/11/2020 18:06

And the woman on this thread who said she had been harassed for being gender nonconforming said that she is in favour of female only spaces.

I suspect that the ' gender nonconforming women' jj is referring to are male 'women'.

Sexnotgender · 03/11/2020 18:10

Perhaps if we had very strictly female only spaces and males didn’t insist on barging into spaces that, frankly, they’ve got no fucking business being in then GNC women wouldn’t be an issue as we’d simply know they were women (FYI we know anyway).
Women as a class are generally non violent, looking at the crime stats it sure as hell isn’t us causing an issue.

Datun · 03/11/2020 18:30

There are six and a half thousand genetic differences between men and women.

Gender non-conforming women do not look like men.

And yes, if men weren't insisting on accessing women's spaces, everyone can be assured that the people in them were female.

It's the height of enough to hold women up to support an argument that they are fundamentally opposed in the first place.

Although, tediously predictable, it has to be said.
