If anyone knows how I can donate to the mum's bid to challenge his sentence in the High Court please tell me.

No way. So hardly any punishment for raping a child then. Is that suddenly acceptable these days?

BaronessWrongCrowd · 15/10/2020 16:59

This made me cry. The poor girl and her mum. I cannot understand why the hell they didn't lock this bastard up. He's a danger to children.

Smurftastic · 15/10/2020 17:00

Should be at least 10 years in prison and chemically castrated. 5 year old! What a monster! Angry

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 15/10/2020 17:00

I can't think of any reason this could be acceptable. Poor little girl.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 15/10/2020 17:00

How can this be? I have no words.

CaraDuneRedux · 15/10/2020 17:18

I think it's possible to write directly to the Attorney General's office to get an unduly lenient sentence reviewed:

www.gov.uk/ask-crown-court-sentence-review

You don't have to be directly involved in the case to do this. This should be a clear cut case for a review, I would have thought.

ThinEndOfTheWedge · 15/10/2020 17:19

How the hell is this possible??

Rape is effectively decriminalised with the appallingly low conviction figures - and when they are convicted - plus being a paedo - they get to walk free???!!!

JFC. I really want to scream.

That poor child and family.

CaraDuneRedux · 15/10/2020 17:20

Email for Attorney General's office:

[email protected]

Has to be done within 30 days of sentencing (which was 1st October).

SebastianTheCrab · 15/10/2020 17:31

Thank you for the attorney general links - I will definitely be writing.

Btw hard copy letters tend to be taken more seriously than just emails in most cases so I'll be sending it by post as well as PDF letter.

Between this and Natalie Connolly I just want to scream.

That's so devastating. Wtf.

Imnobody4 · 15/10/2020 17:33

What possible circumstances could justify this sentence. Will the court transcripts be available. Who the hell was the judge.

KnightsofColumbusThatHurt · 15/10/2020 17:34

The paedophile, who was found guilty of raping a child under 13 at Worcester Crown Court on October 1, was sentenced to a three-year community order and 35 days' rehabilitation requirement.

He was also fined £200 and ordered to pay £2,500 to the victim as well as being put on the Sexual Offenders' Register for five years.

Whaaaaaaaaattttttt?

I don't understand this? What is the justification for such a lenient sentence?

gardenbird48 · 15/10/2020 17:38

Email sent.

Fucking hell (sorry I don't usually swear but omg) - that is just beyond.

Luckily, the newspaper report gives all the relevant information required by the Attorney General for the review request but I would have bloody well trawled the court records if not.

FairFriday · 15/10/2020 17:39

How can such a crime have no custodial sentence? Raping a child - for the love of the wee man, how can this go unpunished?

I'm not sure what info needs to be included. Would you be able to suggest a message so I can email it now?
FairFriday · 15/10/2020 17:40

When you think of the low conviction focused for rape - this basically says ‘You will get away with it’.

justanotherneighinparadise · 15/10/2020 17:42

What do we know about the judge that presided over this case? Are they known to be lenient? Are they following sentencing guidelines

CaraDuneRedux · 15/10/2020 17:43

Provide as much information as you can about the case to the Attorney General’s Office - the information they ask for on their web page, with the required info copied from the Daily Mail article:

name of the person who got the sentence

Callum Haydock

date the sentence was given

1st October 2020

court where the case was held

Worcester Crown Court

crime committed

Rape of a child under 13

(PS I frequently cock things up, so if people could fact check this, please do).

FairFriday · 15/10/2020 17:43

Surely the guidelines must include a custodial element?

Sorry that was for @ThinkWittyThoughts
JuiceBogTrotter · 15/10/2020 17:44

Bloody hell, this is disgusting.
and only on the SOR for 5 years, not life!

slipperywhensparticus · 15/10/2020 17:44

Sadly this is common in Worcester courts pedophile given a two years suspended sentence told no socialising with under age children must report if he has a car and keep the police appraised of his address caught with a 12 year old in his car who admitted she had been into his flat (the police believed he lived in his parents house elsewhere in the district) back to court ANOTHER two year suspended sentence he was serving 2/3 consecutive suspended sentences at one point

Women and children are not valued in Worcestershire

HeronLanyon · 15/10/2020 17:45

At the criminal bar here. Usually reluctant to comment on cases I know nothing about but this looks unduly lenient.
The fact he pleaded not guilty and was convicted at trial at which the young child was required to give evidence means. I credit for pleading guilty etc. So it looks event more odd.
If he had spent time in custody then obviously that would be taken into account eh if he’d been in for 6 months awaiting trial that’s equivalent to a 12 month sentence of imprisonment - sometimes that is behind what seems a very low sentence.
One other thing which can be involved is assistance to police which of course if it were a feature may not be able to be mentioned during sentencing remarks. The judge will have given extensive sentencing remarks partic because this is a sentence at first blush outside of the sentencing guideline.
All very odd. Very low sentence. Very difficult for the family to deal with. Would think the cps will appeal it. If they don’t then there may very well be something behind it all which can’t be disclosed.

gardenbird48 · 15/10/2020 17:46

looking at the list where you can track whether this case gets referred to the Court of Appeal (the link was in the autoreply from the AG office), there are sentences of 2 years imprisonment for conspiracy to commit burglary being handed out (I'm not sure if the appeal is for unduly lenient or excessive) but that judge thought that 2 yrs was appropriate for planning a burglary and another judge thought that a 3 yr Community Order (please let that mean something waay worse than it sounds) was sufficient for raping a 5 yr old child!!

Delphinium20 · 15/10/2020 17:46

Makes me sick. This post should be in the main section too!
