Dress however you please.
Call yourself whatever you like.
Sleep with any consenting adult who’ll have you.
Live your best life in peace and security.
But force women out of their jobs for stating that sex is real?

Some twit making a complete idiot of themselves about how they have decided to "love the books not the author" and how they "mean whatever you want them to mean to you".

It's a kiddy fairytale about a boy wizard, love, not the dead sea scrolls.

I am cringing so hard for so many of these duffers.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 19/12/2019 13:38

The ratio is going up, not down, even though you know every TRA on the internet who's awake is on this.

eurochick · 19/12/2019 13:38

I'm waiting for the pile on. I hope she's prepared. But I love her for doing this.

AccioMulledWine · 19/12/2019 13:39

What a turn up! I hope she stands firm, the vitriol is something to behold.
Thank you JK. Flowers

Poota · 19/12/2019 13:40

The dissenting comments under that tweet, which is liberal by anyone's standards, saying how she is a terrible, awful bigot. Even that terrible Jette Knox lesbian-cosplayer.

They are doing all the spade work for us. Just as I suspected would happen all those months ago when Rowling followed Magdalen but kept her counsel. I always thought she was going to bide her time and do something that just worked like Gandalf appearing in Retirn of the King, shine so bright that all their petty insults just illustrate the emptiness of their ideology.

I'm still bloody crying.

YourOpinionIsNoted · 19/12/2019 13:40

Oh thank god. I was so scared to open the thread.

You beauty, Jo. Well done!!

MangoSplit · 19/12/2019 13:40

Thank you JK!

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 19/12/2019 13:40

Thing is, they can pile on as much as they like. She has more money than she could ever spend unless she starts making a habit of buying private islands.

bluebluezoo · 19/12/2019 13:42

Now that is stunning and brave.

Putting a dress on and saying you're a woman? Anyone can do that.

BarbaraStrozzi · 19/12/2019 13:43

Thank you JK.

Ineedacupofteadesperately · 19/12/2019 13:44

I was so despondant last night, but JK, you absolute star.

Thing is, she has children, including a daughter. And she's been poor before and is unbelievably intelligent. So she'll definitely understand how some women and girls aren't insulated by wealth and can't identify out of their sex. Thank you JK, thank you for standing up for my daughters.

She must be a Gryffindor right? For the Brave.

OkayGo · 19/12/2019 13:45

God I’m so glad she said something. We need women like this. I wonder how many people have peaked today

Haworthia · 19/12/2019 13:45

Glad to see JKR is bold enough to stick her head above the parapet again.

AnotherLass · 19/12/2019 13:48

Amanda Abbington (Actress in Sherlock etc) has just tweeted in support of Maya as well

CadburysTastesVileNow · 19/12/2019 13:48

Courage calls to courage ...

MoltenLasagne · 19/12/2019 13:49

Well done JK. She's always used her good fortune to stand up for what she believes is right, she knew full well what was coming on writing this tweet but did it anyway. I'd like to see the MRAs try and cancel her.

This is great! Just went on twitter and over 12k likes. Smile

Will be interesting to see if anyone else follows suit.

BoreOfWhabylon · 19/12/2019 13:51

That is more than I ever dreamed of from her. This is seriously brave.

Yes. JKR doesn't tweet much. This was a considered decision on her part. She knows what the ramifications will be. Brave woman indeed.

OkayGo · 19/12/2019 13:53

The replies to that are some real feet stomping. They really don’t know any other way to respond other than insults and threats.

Kit19 · 19/12/2019 13:54

the wokeratit blue haired kids alreay cancelled JK some time ago over her failure to say Dumbledore was gay and because her books are "every kind of phobic". they send her pompous tweets instructing her to do better

she is not going to be remotey fussed by any pile on over this

Ive realised i typed wokeratit instead of wokerati but Im keeping it as I kind of like it

hoorayforharoldlloyd · 19/12/2019 13:55

This has actually made me a bit weepy.

And embarrassed that I'm still scared to raise my head above the parapet. Did have first ever conversation with one of my friends about the whole situ due to maya though - so maybe it starts here.

EverardDigby · 19/12/2019 13:55

Hopefully this will give Maya a bit of a lift too, she deserves it.

Newuser123123 · 19/12/2019 13:56

Wonderful, a glimmer of hope.

I stand with Jo and Maya

Love Anna from Warwickshire xx

DeeZastris · 19/12/2019 13:56

At last some good news.
