It's 2019 and it's homophobic to be a lesbian

No it isn't

JackyHolyoake · 06/08/2019 16:24

Nope, it's just unpleasant to be a bigot

Perhaps the meaning of the term 'bigot' is not understood here:

a person who is intolerant of those holding differing opinions?
Yes, that sounds about right.

2BthatUnnoticed · 06/08/2019 16:25

Roses still waiting Smile

2BthatUnnoticed · 06/08/2019 16:27

Well, you’d know Minnie - I recommend opening your heart to tolerance for female homosexuals.

JackyHolyoake · 06/08/2019 16:30

a person who is intolerant of those holding differing opinions?
Yes, that sounds about right.

The expression "Physician, heal thyself" comes to mind, here.

littlbrowndog · 06/08/2019 16:31

Caroline Criado Perez put a tweet out on Friday to ask who are the women alive today who inspire you and why ? This list of women below was posted

Datun
Dittany
Beachcomber
LangCleg
PrawnofthePatriarchy
TheBewilderness
AngryAttackKittens
RedToothbush
FloralBunting
SpartacusAutisticus

& so many other brilliant, witty, logical, patient writers.

Who don't care that their names aren't known, & don't seek fame.
Just fairness.

looks like we are closing in on 40 pages lol

That Pride can state Terfs not welcome, but aren't prepared to exclude anyone else says it all. Anyone who isnt a paedophile denier/apologist knows their modus operandi includes infiltration of useful organisations, particularly those with the ear of law makers.

2BthatUnnoticed · 06/08/2019 16:47

(That seemed a touch harsh deleting Minnie to me. I didn’t agree, but think she had the right to say it.)

Roses even just one example, anything?

Exactly what certain posters want, bespin.

Hmm
Doyoumind · 06/08/2019 17:11

So lol Bespin Hmm What a useful addition to the debate.

I saw CCP's original tweet browndog but hadn't seen the list of MNers in the responses. Thanks for posting.

Someone asked how the media has responded

www.leeds-live.co.uk/news/leeds-news/watch-leeds-pride-supporters-drown-16701511

Watch as Leeds Pride supporters drown out radical protesters

zebrasdontwearbras · 06/08/2019 17:21

Lesbians are "radical protesters" now? Bloody hell.

That puts lesbians back 50 years.

Meanwhile, male fetishists, pups, pervs, take over Pride.

JackyHolyoake · 06/08/2019 17:35

Did the article include the term 'lesbians' .. I don't think it did, which is most odd.

RosesAndRaindrops · 06/08/2019 17:45

Lesbians are "radical protesters" now? Bloody hell.

See, it's this type of stuff people are questioning.
Why can't a lesbian be a radical protester, if they were to take a radical stance?
Why the "but but they're only harmless lesbians" as if they can't be radical at all because of this fact? Confused

Bespin · 06/08/2019 17:50

you appear to be going full on to link pride with pedophiles and by association anyone in the lgbt community who attends it and apparently knows that they are there and apologises for them or allows them to be there. it appears to be broadening out from just trans people to anyone who dares to support pride. I really hope people see this for what it is, that it will always play well to the echo chamber that is mumsnet and it will attract people who hold the same views. But ultimately it just looks like the tabloid papers of the 70s and 80s who used to also link gay men to pedophilia in the same way. It was condemned then and it will be again no matter how you dress it up as concern.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 06/08/2019 17:50

if they were to take a radical stance?

But what is radical about saying lesbians are same sex attracted?

FormerMediocreMale · 06/08/2019 17:52

What was radical about them Roses?

Bespin · 06/08/2019 17:52

Lesbians are a special class of people on mumsnet who can apparently do no wrong, well unless they include trans people and then they are not concidered lesbians by the majority of Stright people on here.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 06/08/2019 17:52

you appear to be going full on to link pride with pedophiles and by association anyone in the lgbt community

.....So are we not supposed to highlight the actual pedophiles in that community then, in case people think we are accuse them by association?....

Trohmaniac · 06/08/2019 17:53

No one is saying they can't be radical protesters - in this case they weren't being radical. They were stating facts, in a calm and peaceful manner.

They certainly can and have been (and will, I expect, continue to be) radical protesters at other times.

And more power to them.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 06/08/2019 17:53

It's a massive issue and you are silencing people who are highlighting it.
