I'm so bloody angry because it's based on a false understanding of how the menstrual cycle works but some of his female friends are so out of touch with their own biology they are, in addition to calling themselves cis, saying "wow, I didn't know that ".
However not sure I can face another pile on.

Surely tws on oestrogen are on a steady, consistent dosage and not fluctuating amounts? The fluctuations cause most of the symptoms I thought. If they're experiencing mood swings it's more to do with underlying narcissism than hormones.

Yes, the endocrinologist usually starts on a low level and increments - then post surgery reduces to a "maintenance dose" to maintain secondary sex characteristics.

Some TRAs will claim that they take their HRT cyclicly with progesterone to simulate a female cycle. I've never known any clinician operate like that - just usually an anti-androgen and oestrogen combo.

For one thing those taking estrogen are taking regular doses, not varying it throughout a monthly cycle.
