"Transwomen have periods"

FairfaxAikman · 25/07/2019 18:12

A woke bloke I know posted this on FB.
Do I call it out or should I avoid wasting my energy?
I'm so bloody angry because it's based on a false understanding of how the menstrual cycle works but some of his female friends are so out of touch with their own biology they are, in addition to calling themselves cis, saying "wow, I didn't know that ".
However not sure I can face another pile on.

What the hell is a period poop

MashedSpud · 25/07/2019 18:41

Popping tampons soaked in ketchup up ones bottom is not the definition of a period.

MrsMiggins37 · 25/07/2019 18:41

Oh for fucks sake. 😬🙄 this nonsense has gone too far.

Loving the mansplaining of periods though, thank god someone like him came along to explain how it is, my own 30 years of menstruating clearly insufficient

flissity · 25/07/2019 18:41

I saw somewhere a you tube video of how to make a sanitary pad look like it has real period blood on it..

lunar1 · 25/07/2019 18:42

I've read it all now!

What the hell is a period poop

After ovulation, progesterone levels rise. Progesterone acts partly as a muscle relaxant (because that would help a fertilised egg bed down in the uterus). It also causes constipation in the lead up to your period. Then when your period starts, progesterone levels plummet and the muscle relaxant effect is lost - hence crampy womb and a sudden... easing of your constipation symptoms.

Progesterone is also the reason why constipation is such a bastard in pregnancy. I can’t take any hormonal contraception because progesterone turns my guts to concrete. True fact 😐

PickleC · 25/07/2019 18:43

So lovely for a man to explain that even after my 32 years experience of having periods he knows more when his total number of periods is zero, zip, nada

Hotterthanahotthing · 25/07/2019 18:44

I would love to give a transwoman like this my uterus and hormones with the exact same experience. She wouldn't like the grime reality methink.

Pannalash · 25/07/2019 18:44

Batshit crazy call them out Angry

huuskymam · 25/07/2019 18:46

I am so sick of this shite. Seriously it's like women are being pushed aside for being real women. We have to accept whatever trans people decide they want to feel like on the bloody day. Our toilets are being taken over, doesn't matter if we're comfortable about it or not. Our bodily functions are to be shared with people with penises. And one sick fucker is on a mission to have a woman wax his balls. 😡😡😡 sorry for the rant...

MadamBatty · 25/07/2019 18:46

I have had a hysterectomy therefore I no longer have periods. No uterus no periods.

I still have my ovaries (though probably shutting up shop). I do t have a ‘cycle

No uterus no periods

JoyceJeffries · 25/07/2019 18:47

It really is offensive.

escapade1234 · 25/07/2019 18:48

What is all this “assigned at birth” stuff? I’m picturing a team of doctors peering closely at a newborn, discussing it among themselves, then proclaiming a random sex to the child.

Instead of “oh look, a willy, here’s your son”,

Hotterthanahotthing · 25/07/2019 18:48

Haworthia, and explanation no Dr gave me in 46 years for the mega clear out at the beginning of a period!

Whatsnewpussyhat · 25/07/2019 18:50

Tell him he must be so happy that his misogyny now has a socially acceptable outlet.

JackyHolyoake · 25/07/2019 18:51

For the record, men taking oestrogen are not taking "hormone replacement therapy". They are taking what is known as CSH: Cross-Sex Hormone; that is, a synthetic hormone that is the opposite from that which their body naturally supplies.

You’re welcome, @Hotterthanahotthing Grin

Gingerkittykat · 25/07/2019 18:54

I went through a period of a few months last year when my hormones were out of whack. It was horrible, I'd get the PMT, sore boobs and sometimes cramps but no bleed. Guess what? I didn't call it a period because it wasn't. Also my hormone levels naturally fluctuate cyclically, I don't take the same dose everyday.

Trans women don't want reminded they are trans, doesn't mean the rest of us need to bullshit to keep up this pretence. My female mid 30s friend has never had a period due to eating disorders and is devastated she will probably never get pregnant, should we pretend she has a period to make her feel better?

Are period shits not caused by the fact the uterus is so close to the bowel so when it starts to cramp it irritates it?

LolaSmiles · 25/07/2019 18:57

No female anatomy = no menstrual cycle

Sometimes I wonder what the GCSE biology text book will look like in 10 years time.

Next up, women suffer from testicular cancer.

terfsandwich · 25/07/2019 19:01

I would reply being quite the strident TRA with lots of info about how poor transwomen have to use their arses, and fake blood, and root around in sanitary bins. A couple of links should do it for the lurkers.

buttertoasty · 25/07/2019 19:04

What a fucking stupid fuck. Trying to compare that to your uterus walls being starved of oxygen and experiencing heart attack like pain.

Also it's not even try surely? They cycles is caused by different levels of both E and P hormones through the month?

Also I'm pretty sure that having to take artificial hormones to make your dick shrivel up is a reminder enough that you are trans

I wouldn't be able to help myself I'm afraid.

QueenoftheBiscuitTin · 25/07/2019 19:04

Ffs whatever next. The lack of intelligence is worrying.

user1498572889 · 25/07/2019 19:10

They are not on their period they are just hormonal because of the medication they CHOOSE to take.

ThatCurlyGirl · 25/07/2019 19:11

If people want to declare periods as their own lived experience can they also declare they'll accept the wage pay gap and live as a woman in that capacity too, for example?

You don't get to choose which of our struggles you claim to go through too. Equality is real, actual and fair it is not special treatment and gaslighting.

I'm so sick of this shit.
