"Transwomen have periods"

FairfaxAikman · 25/07/2019 18:12

A woke bloke I know posted this on FB.
Do I call it out or should I avoid wasting my energy?
I'm so bloody angry because it's based on a false understanding of how the menstrual cycle works but some of his female friends are so out of touch with their own biology they are, in addition to calling themselves cis, saying "wow, I didn't know that ".
However not sure I can face another pile on.

Transwomen are adult male transsexuals they cannot menstruate, it is a biological impossibility. Please call him out OP.

mummmy2017 · 25/07/2019 21:19

Tell him if he has a pad in his knickers and something appears on it........wait for it...
He shat himself.

Toomuchtrouble4me · 25/07/2019 21:19

OMG - I’ve just read whole thread tampon stuff - this is disgusting. Wondering now about “adult babies” maybe there’s an eBay market for shitty nappies?
Used tampons anyone? 5 for £10?
It’s just too fucking weird.

Toomuchtrouble4me · 25/07/2019 21:22

Oh well, at least now that men are having periods we’ll get tampax in the NHS.

Leakinglikeacolander · 25/07/2019 21:28

Ketchup tampons and rifling through sanitary bins?
Seriously that's a thing?

Freshprincess · 25/07/2019 21:28

someone should tell him about ovulation pain and endometriosis. Never do I feel more womanly than when I feel like someone has taken a sledge hammer to my bits.

SummerSix · 25/07/2019 21:34

Ridiculous

WelshMoth · 25/07/2019 21:42

So many of these responses deserve 'likes' but the one that should nip it in the bud for me is "lol you twat".

Ridiculous situation but it's here to stay and we need to deal with it. We cannot rely on any authority to challenge it as most of them are complicit Angry

IdaBWells · 25/07/2019 21:44

It’s absolutely offensive to women.

But one aspect about this whole movement and ideology is the same, WOMEN ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TALK ABOUT IT.

They make ridiculous, ignorant, offensive statements referring to female biology and the only responses from women allowed are: flattery, encouragement or silence.

No actual truth allowed and of course mockery (the response of most men) would get a call from the police for transphobia.

TurboTeddy · 25/07/2019 21:48

What is all this “assigned at birth” stuff? I’m picturing a team of doctors peering closely at a newborn, discussing it among themselves, then proclaiming a random sex to the child.

No no no, you've got it all wrong. There's a sex sorting hat, it's all very Harry Potter. Grin

mummmy2017 · 25/07/2019 21:56

Shocked, seems they actually teach the kids in school men have menstruation and a time of the month.... Knocks head against wall....

LadyOfTheCanyon · 25/07/2019 22:02

Apart from it all being ridiculous bollocks, what staggers me is why Men would want to have periods. Most men kick off about wearing condoms because they ' can't feel anything.'
They absolutely couldn't cope with 40 -odd years of the womb bendingly awful pains a lot of women have.

isthisfairidontknow · 25/07/2019 22:03

'It's not your place to tell them they don't have periods'

But apparently it is my place to tell random women what they can and can't say....

TurboTeddy · 25/07/2019 22:03

The lack of intelligence is worrying.

Quite. Doubly worrying that there is such a push for informed consent for medical/surgical transition. It seems that many of the people seeking or taking these treatments are not acquainted with Google, their level of research and understanding should give any doctor pause for thought. And why oh why do they know nothing of prostaglandins.

Daughterofmabel · 25/07/2019 22:04

Or A Misogynist Arguing Bollocks.Grin
Actual Man Actual Bullshitter?Grin

Giggorata · 25/07/2019 22:19

Do they fuck... please be the voice of sanity and tell him that he is a grotesque parody.

TriptychDebbie · 25/07/2019 22:33

Ketchup tampons and rifling through sanitary bins?
Seriously that's a thing?

I'm afraid so. There are whole forums dedicated to period and tampon fetishes. Truly puke inducing.

OhHolyJesus · 25/07/2019 22:45

I've also read about the frozen ketchup tube shoved up the arse trick and how bloating can be induced by drinking lots of water.

The posts used the words 'simulate' and 'mimic' and then there was something like "it's so good to talk about this with you girls". The irony was not lost on me. The group had over 2,000 when I read it.

There was a lovely piece about stealing used pads from bins and knowing who they came from. The depravity knows no bounds. Of course I'd be accused of being transphobic or kink shaming if this was on twitter.

CharlieParley · 25/07/2019 22:48

'It's not your place to tell them they don't have periods'

No mate, it's not your place to tell women to shut up about something as offensive as males appropriating a uniquely female experience.

Especially one that brings with it so much shame and pain for so many of us and that still sees women being considered unclean and dying in menstruation huts in too many parts of the world.

You can fuck right off with that and your pals with their menstruation fetish can fuck off too.

Tartyflette · 25/07/2019 22:59

Jesus. Some kinks need to be shamed.
(Similarly, see the 'sex choking' article from the Guardian on another thread. )

ThatCurlyGirl · 26/07/2019 00:20

If the powers that be finally decide that tampons are not a luxury item but a necessity now they are required by people "assigned male at birth" and remove the VAT i will be simultaneously overjoyed .

Overjoyed that this battle was finally won) and devastated (that the voice of women across the UK wasn't enough before now.)

I'm peaking and it just keeps getting worse.

ThatCurlyGirl · 26/07/2019 00:22

Sorry correction to previous post:

I will be simultaneously overjoyed and devastated

NoSquirrels · 26/07/2019 00:41

It very much reminds me of friends I had in the 90s from very posh families who chose to live in grotty bedsits, talked with a mancs accent and went on the dole because it was cool.

You will never understand
How it feels to live your life
With no meaning or control
And with nowhere left to go.
You are amazed that they exist
And they burn so bright,
Whilst you can only wonder why.

No uterus = no period.

PegLegAntoine · 26/07/2019 01:22

So basically he gets a tummy ache and the shits and/or a bit bunged up and thinks that’s a period

Did none of these people listen in biology class Hmm

Watchfulwaiter · 26/07/2019 01:30

.Obviously we shouldn't point out to someone that they don't get periods

Whyever not?
