Banana pancakes

A wonderful breakfast thread to ensure all the good women of fwr start the day right with substance and not just dross. I’ve already failed and partaken in consuming shite but it might not be too late for lots of you!

I like making egg free pancakes by substituting the eggs fro mashed bananas- works a treat.

ewe

I used to do a cake club

I really wish I'd taken more photos because i tended to go for 'showstoppers' as my children pretty much only like plain sponge

EweSurname · 05/04/2019 08:18

I want to see showstoppers!

In honour of this thread, I had WBH this morning!

TirisfalPumpkin · 05/04/2019 08:48

Yay!

We’re going for a couple of days at the sea side. I am going to have some sort of pancake-based food as first holiday breakfast. 🥞

S1naidSucks · 05/04/2019 09:09

I was going to have peanut butter and banana on toast, but since I put peanut butter on a couple of mouse traps last night, i just can’t look at it without thinking of mushed mouse brain. 🤢 Bastard mice, creeping around in my space, uninvited and unwanted. I hope they’re actually mice and not rats, identifying as mice. The horror! 😱

I love sliced banana, put in milk, then warmed up for pouring over weetabix. Mandarin oranges or chopped up apple, added to milk and warned for pouring over weetabix is lovely too.

terryleather · 05/04/2019 09:19

Genuine question Lang, do you observe seasonality wrt WBH and have it only during the colder months or is it a year round breakfast "delight"..?

Honestly? Depends on what time I get up and how much work I've got on. It takes 1 minute to make so the more rushed I am, the more likely I am to have it!

Estcarpwitch · 05/04/2019 09:25

Love this thread

FloralBunting · 05/04/2019 09:25

No no no no

If there's an issue with bananas, Weetabix and hot milk, then there must be laws against Weetabix, hot milk and MANDARIN ORANGES.!!!

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 05/04/2019 09:30

See, I don't see how Weetabix anything can be other than a horror. If it can also be used as a building material i draw the line at eating it. Ditto all bran.

I 8:16 these days so very rarely have breakfast. I rarely miss it but this morning this thread has created a rumble that my apple and nettle tea can't drown out. I could classify hot Cross buns and custard as lunch, right?

A cake club would be amazing. Is it like a book club but you don't have to pretend to have read the book in order to eat cake?

Lymphy · 05/04/2019 09:34

it can also be used as a building material

True. Also a good bonding agent. I used it to hem my sons school trews in lieu of wonder web.

ErrolTheDragon · 05/04/2019 09:44

I don't usually have breakfast either, but sometimes have French toast or porridge for lunch. I got woken horribly early this morning so I think I may need brunch today. And then I'll probably want something at afternoon teatime. #silverliningtoeverycloud

FingonTheValiant · 05/04/2019 09:44

I'm rather partial to WBH. But better than that is caramelised weetabix. Two bixes, hot milk, liberal sprinkling of brown sugar, with or without banana, then microwave/under the grill until caramelised. Sometimes I add raspberries. Lush.

wrathofVitriolKlop · 05/04/2019 09:47

Weetabix is nice, but I swear it has the hardening properties of polyfilla.

I therefore declare that you have permission to use weetabix off script.

I will have a stockpile of weetabix so I can spread this idea far and wide.
Maybe go into schools to show them how I can fix the pin holes in the classroom walls.
My hope is that many children will be encouraged to do this.

Pinholes in walls need fixing.
Weetabix is your friend.

terryleather · 05/04/2019 09:47

Floral Im partial to a mandarin orange but in a hot milk/Weetabix combo I have to agree, it's almost reaching the "heights" of the WBH - something I didn't think was possible.

Lang I admire your year round commitment!

drspouse · 05/04/2019 09:53

I found some weetabix stuck to the piano this morning Envy

ErrolTheDragon · 05/04/2019 09:58

Use of the aforementioned substances as adhesives is obvious when you consider wallpaper paste.

^Homemade Wallpaper Paste Recipe
1 1/2 cups white flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 Tbsp alum*
3 cups of water
Combine flour and sugar. Slowly add 1 cup of cold water and beat out any lumps. Put mixture in a saucepan. Add 2 cups of water. Stirring constantly, bring the mixture to a boil on medium heat. When stiff, remove from heat and add alum. Store in an airtight container. It should keep several weeks. If the paste hardens, soften by mixing in small amounts of warm water as needed.
*Alum is a pickling spice found in the spice section of your store. It’s a preservative.^

I can’t believe I missed talking about cake last night, all because I decided to read a book instead of MN. I mean feminism is OK, but I bloody love cake.

God bless fondant icing, even with my cack handedness I can make something vaguely recognisable

Banana pancakes
wrathofVitriolKlop · 05/04/2019 10:13

Homemade wallpaper paste, who knew?
We must go into schools to encourage this.

Don't know where I'm going with this

Who was that cake for? Shock

ErrolTheDragon · 05/04/2019 10:17

We made basic flour and water paste in craft lessons back in the dark ages 1960s.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 05/04/2019 10:17

The cake was for DS 1’s birthday party

It’s a Minecraft TNT block btw

I can see that if you don’t know that it could look like a somewhat aggressive coded message Grin

Light the candles and stand back...

Lymphy would that not have left a tell tale sour milk smell? When our uniform inspector got wise to us using sellotape we moved to double sided sticky tape. Twas even easier than wundaweb.
