A wonderful breakfast thread to ensure all the good women of fwr start the day right with substance and not just dross. I’ve already failed and partaken in consuming shite but it might not be too late for lots of you!

I like making egg free pancakes by substituting the eggs fro mashed bananas- works a treat.

Oh wow, you actually put the nana in the batter?

Yes! I usually blend up the banana, milk etc and then add dry ingredients.

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 04/04/2019 09:10

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly

Yes, great in shakes of smoothies. I like banana, dates, peanut butter and cashew milk

Myusernameismud · 04/04/2019 09:12

Freeze them in their skins? Or slice and freeze them after peeling? This thread is quite an eye opener

InfiniteSheldon · 04/04/2019 09:12

As a woman I obviously wear a lovely pink apron whilst making banana pancakes for my bemuscled, wifebeater wearing dh otherwise Cheesecake Fairy Dart (our gendernonconforming dit) wouldn't know which of us was which

Myusernameismud · 04/04/2019 09:12

My favourite is banana, smooth peanut butter and almond milk. It's the actual drink of the gods, in case you didn't know.

LizzieSiddal · 04/04/2019 09:13

Don’t forget too keep some virtual bananas aside, inorder to throw at the monkey dancers. 🍌🍌🍌

Skin the bananas, cut in half (half a frozen banana is enough for one milkshake serving), then freeze

I favour this recipe cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/3038-one-ingredient-banana-ice-cream which I do as:

Put 4 bananas in freezer
several months later: remember bananas, remove them and peel (surprisingly easy)
Put in blender

Serve as ice cream.

LangCleg · 04/04/2019 09:19

It pains me to admit you're correct Lang, I'd force it down rather than partake of the other...DO NOT however, regard this as victory.

VICTORY!

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 04/04/2019 09:19

My favourite ice creams are:

Simple chocolate recipe: frozen sliced banana and cocoa powder, sliced makes it easier to blend and a smoother ice cream

And Salted Caramel: dates, peanut butter, frozen banana, salt 🍌

LangCleg · 04/04/2019 09:20

I still don't know what Lang's WBH consists of, not sure how I missed it, but I did

1 x mashed banana
2 x weetabix
hot milk

Mix. Scoff.

Even terryleather is coming around!

TinselAngel · 04/04/2019 09:21

Do you have to cook the blueberries before you put them in a pancake?

No Smile

Admire how you're spinning this* "victory" Lang*! Grin

cranstonmanor · 04/04/2019 09:25

My mother spent her life clipping out tips and hacks from newspapers and magazines and NOT ONE mentioned that you can freeze bananas! I'm always waiting till the sodding things are ripe. -off to supermarket to buy a lot of bananas-

Redshoeblueshoe · 04/04/2019 09:25

Lang that's gross. Weetabix are best served with butter and marmite.
If you must eat 🍌 has to be with chocolate sauce and cream

EweSurname · 04/04/2019 09:27

Yes, the bananas go in the pancake batter before they're cooked!

Mash them up (young children particularly enjoy this step) and substitute one egg for one mashed banana.

We are an allergen-riddled household (which makes my eating them with nutella all the more unwise given that DP even has an epipen Blush) and it's been a useful addition to breakfast menus.

BLACK KNIGHT: All right, we'll call it a draw.

What the what? This is a whole new landscape for me.

Whatisthisfuckery · 04/04/2019 09:36

DP is partial to a variety of weetabix abominations, a particular highlight being the pour hot water over, pour it off again and then add the milk technique. I told her about WBH and she was delighted. I think compared to the hot water technique it sounds preferable. I guess that’s another point to you Lang.

KrispyKremes · 04/04/2019 09:38

Banana pancakes seem a good idea.

Until you give it it's real name - Banana Omelette.

Then you see them for what they really are.
