Just seen this on Twitter.

I’d like to think her successor will be less homophobic. We shall see, although I’m not holding out much hope.

The Cotton Ceiling always seems to be applied to lesbians. Yet it applies equally to heterosexual males the vast majority of whom would not sleep with a trans woman and certainly not one with a penis. Because they are not homosexual and this is respected. This isn’t questioned and heterosexual men are not called transphobic for this. I think this simply underlined the misogyny of the whole ideology.

RedToothBrush · 21/02/2019 21:52

I think Brian Paddick should throw his hat into the ring.

Fuck no.

RedToothBrush · 21/02/2019 21:55

Isn't LGBT just lgbT (small letters intended) now?

So the next CEO has to be trans.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 21/02/2019 21:55

It will be a man who takes over. Sure, they may look like Carmel Miranda but it will be a man.

Trousering · 21/02/2019 21:59

The house of cards is collapsing.

hometownglory · 21/02/2019 22:02

She may go abroad like Nick Clegg.

Whatisthisfuckery · 21/02/2019 22:05

Maybe she can fuck off to Canada? One can but hope.

Morgan Ogre is arranging a visa right now.

ChattyLion · 21/02/2019 22:08

Oh sorry WeRise no not at all, I wrote my post before I saw your second one! I was worried I sounded like a dick asking for ‘evidence’ off you when I was just asking a generalised question really. Apologies, I put that badly.

I am just baffled now whether Ruth H could have been working under duress this whole time in some way, or if the gender critical penny has finally dropped for her or what.

Either way I hope the Stonewall Trustees are reflecting on the current direction on their watch- if this is really the direction they still want to go in. They have an opportunity to change tack now without losing too much face, with the Chief Exec leaving.

Knicknackpaddyflak · 21/02/2019 22:21

People who have been deleted, am I right that those posts were ones that stated truth rather than polite fiction?

Voice0fReason · 21/02/2019 22:23

I will definitely be a transwoman or a handmaiden.
And they'll rename the acronym to TTTTT+

youllhavehadyourtea · 21/02/2019 22:30

People who have been deleted, am I right that those posts were ones that stated truth rather than polite fiction? One post at least mentioned a lawyer

HamiltonCork · 21/02/2019 22:30

It is unlikely that Ruth Hunt will have seen the light or is wracked with guilt but has more than likely been offered a better paid job somewhere else. She has consistently put herself first and women last. That’s her legacy.

A little something I dashed off tonight to commemorate Ruth's announcement... medium.com/@JonnnyBest/whats-gone-wrong-with-stonewall-1be30cffba9f

Sunshineofleith · 21/02/2019 23:49

I think Jonny Best will be the best candidate if it has to be a man. He started the petition and I think that stonewall will want him on their side.

Sunshineofleith · 21/02/2019 23:49

I wrote this before I saw Jonny’s post

Courday · 22/02/2019 00:15

And Stonewall are complicit in their silence on the issue. Employing a certain MP just shows exactly how far from their core remit they have strayed.

It’s helpful to remember what we’re talking about when we talk about gender. Jack Applebyy* has argued that we could replace the word gender with ‘sex stereotypes’ for a more vivid sense of what gender is. He’s right  - because that is exactly what gender is.

This is a really helpful point when trying to discuss any of this with anyone not really in the know. The cognitive dissonance needed when processing 'trans non binary' (but insists on accessing spaces of the opposite sex) in this way pops the bubble.

Useful article, thanks Jonny.

NeurotrashWarrior · 22/02/2019 03:16

*Stonewall is asserting that lesbians are attracted to anyone with a female (sex stereotype) identity, whether that person is biologically male or female.

Nuts when you read it like this.

NeurotrashWarrior · 22/02/2019 03:23

And yep, thanks for the footnote! Really quite important. I thought it had been used by others previously.

A little footnote…
Karen Ingala Smith pointed out that she heard Sheila Jeffreys describe gender as ‘sex stereotypes’ at a conference a few years ago. My thanks also to Meagan Tyler who informs me that the reference traces back to Jeffreys’ 2014 book, Gender Hurts. I cite Jack Appleby in my text as it is his discussion of this on Twitter which led me to the idea. I spend too much time on Twitter and not enough reading books

WeRiseUp · 22/02/2019 08:14

Ha ha. That jumped out at me. I have been using 'sex roles' and 'sex stereotypes' instead of gender for ages before Jack Appleby said it. But he's a good apple so I didn't mention it. I didn't realise Jeffreys said it first.

vaginafetishist · 22/02/2019 09:26

I always use 'sex roles'
