Just seen this on Twitter.

I’d like to think her successor will be less homophobic. We shall see, although I’m not holding out much hope.

Ruth Hunt is indebted to some gay men:

Daily Mail:
'Equalities tsar Anthony Watson issues rallying cry to unite LGBT+ community'
(extract)
Mr Watson, a tech entrepreneur, who chairs Dawn Butler MP's diversity board, wrote a letter calling on lesbian, gay and bi-sexual people to stand shoulder to shoulder with transgender people.

The equalities tsar wrote: 'I am writing this letter alongside many other gay men of different privileges. Just as lesbians have shown their support through #LWithTheT we now stand in public solidarity with our trans siblings.

'As gay men we have watched in horror at the cruelty inflicted upon the trans community. We are outraged. The most vulnerable people in our society are marginalised, scared and endangered. Trans communities, and in particular trans children, are under attack on a daily basis.

'What do trans people want? They want the right to live their lives in peace, to be free from violence and discrimination, and to enjoy equal protection under the law.

'What they want, in short, are the same basic protections and rights we as gay men enjoy.'

He added: 'Every gay man owes, in no small part, the rights and privileges we now enjoy to the courage and sacrifice of our trans siblings who came before. Now we must stand alongside them as they lead the fight for theirs.'

Speaking about the letter, Mr Watson said: 'LGBT+ people are already seen as a minority in British society. We have to fight harder than anyone else for our voices to be heard and to be taken seriously.

'There has been a lot of noise recently around the nature of gender versus sexual orientation. I want to be absolutely clear: trans men are men. Trans women are women. Trans rights are human rights.

'I have issued an open letter, which has the support of influential names from the LGBT+ community, to express our solidarity with trans people and their fight for equality." (continues)

Equalities Tsar Anthony Watson's open letter:

I cant stand women. They're pathetic and don't deserve any rights, unless they're male, then I can get on board.

Signed, Tone
Michael Cashman
Brian Paddick
Harrop
Little Owen Jones
And a million woke bros both gay and straight

TimeLady · 15/03/2019 07:17

Maybe this letter is part of his application for the Stonewall job Wink

Needmoresleep · 15/03/2019 09:02

You could well be right.

In which case the message is interesting. Ls and Gs, and presumably Bs need to focus on the Ts.

Future of Stonewall?

beagadorsrock · 15/03/2019 09:09

I was sad to see George Takei's name there.
But I see the pattern - in the US, the 'right' attacks Planned Parenthood, gays in the military and anything that's not in Leviticus, and the transgender ideology (except they don't call it that). The unthinking left/liberal mind then jumps in to defend the TGI thinking it's defending all the other stuff (abortion, equality, etc). And the regressive win.

It's a Trojan Horse and it's being successful.

Popchyk · 15/03/2019 09:53

Be interested to see who gets the new Stonewall gig.

That is a real poisoned chalice. Because the transgender ideology is revealing itself as misogynistic and homophobic more and more.

Stonewall doesn't have any issue with the misogyny part (they positively welcome that), but the homophobic part is always going to be a tricky balance.

Stonewall seems to have a policy now that homosexuality is wrong as it is not trans-inclusive. But of course they can't say that it is wrong so they say nothing.

Like Stonewall had nowt to say about Parkfield Community School. Because fundamentally Stonewall now agrees with those parents that homosexuality is wrong.

It will be a brave man/women/otherkin who takes on that job.

I will be watching with interest.

Needmoresleep · 15/03/2019 10:26

Popchyk, did you see this

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6811197/Primary-pupils-Muslim-parents-left-outraged-gay-assistant-heads-LGBT-lessons.html

Trouble is we know its not just about the GBL but also about the T. The first three are easier to defend, assuming material is appropriate. Conflating the two makes it a lot more difficult to make a clear argument. Stonewall please note.

Popchyk · 15/03/2019 11:01

That was an interesting and well-balanced article.

Yep, Stonewall cannot cobble together a coherent argument right now.

So they keep silent and idiots like Anthony Watson and Adrian Harrop fill the void. And also some of the extremist protestors like Zafar Majid who don't even have children at that school.

Stonewall and Ruth Hunt's "no debate" stance will continue to have serious consequences for the LGB.

Interesting the mention of the Trojan Horse plot to infiltrate schools and promote Muslim extremist ideology. Because of course we have another Trojan Horse in transgender ideology right now.

Interesting to see Peter Mandleson being applauded by Pink News and linked to the passing of the GRA 2004

See Vulvamort's incredible work on the debates:

"Tweets from 2003: The Gender Recognition Bill

I'm going to tweet out a few of the illuminating comments from the debates that led to the GRA 2004, to save you all ploughing through Hansard.

One of the primary motivations (if not the foremost) for the bill was to avoid legalising same sex marriage. This featured VERY heavily in the discussions.

It was, in the Govt's eyes, FAR preferable to convert a same sex couple into a heterosexual couple via 'sex change' than it was to make same sex marriage legal:

And the justification of "if we allow sex to change we can sidestep same sex marriage" appeared over and over again...

One of the obvious flaws in the entire process was the deliberate confuscation of sex and gender. The govt admitted that the two concepts were NOT THE SAME

Note the NO.
And then note the utter balderdash that follows. In this order:

  1. Gender is not sex.
  2. Govt will legally recognise gender
  3. Gender should be legal sex
  4. Acquired gender = legal sex
  5. Something unexplained about man, woman and male and female
  6. Sex = Gender
To recap, sex and gender are not the same, govt acknowledges, but we'd like to create a law that pretends they are, whilst still knowing they are not. Cool. This paved the way for what we've now seen evidence for: that 'female' people with penises can commit rape. As we now know, this happens

Tebbit anticipated it, and the Govt acknowledged this would happen

(What is even more disturbing is that long before the EA2010 was created, the Police were recording 'female rapists' by their preferred gender identity without them having a GRC. The Met started doing this in 2009)

It's like the GRA was just a foot in the door.
The govt doubled down on every opportunity to confirm that yes, criminals could compel everyone to pretend they were the opposite sex. It's not like nobody thought this through. The Govt saw the consequences and accepted them.

(although again, this was ONLY EVER supposed to apply to that tiny number of legal transexuals that the GRA was meant to create)

How's that working out, do we reckon?
Several members pointed out that sex and gender were being hopelessly conflated and confused. They received answers like this one.

Nope, makes no sense to us either.

Each time someone raised concerns about prisoners and gender, they'd get a response like this one from Lammy.

Tiny number, hardly ever gonna happen, only certificated transsexuals.
Right.

Ann Widdecombe asked a pertinent question about what happens to children affected by the legal lie. Does a mother who becomes a man render a child motherless?
Check out the superb bodyswerve in this answer.
Anyone any the wiser?
Nor me.

There's one particular mention that stopped me in my tracks.

Read this comment from Tebbit. He references how easily Ian Huntley dodged justice by changing ID. Urging caution with the GRA.

This comment was made in 2003... (continues)

Lord Moynihan was an absolute trooper in making the case that this was a VeryBadMove for Sports.

In fact, Moynihan WARNED everyone that resorting to 'testosterone levels'instead of SEX was a truly crap idea

He makes the point that the numbers don't matter as much as the fact that it is BAD LAW.

The level of foresight was impressive.

Even he didn't anticipate that this would all be extrapolated way beyond his worst fears. Not just the GRC holders...everybody. (continues)

Baroness Cathain got it.

She knew this would be a legal fiction.

Cathain also realised that since you can't ask to see a GRC, you can't prove your entirely valid position of refusing someone on the grounds of sex. Leaving you open to being sued.

Sometimes whilst reading these comments, I feel queasy. Because where we are now is pretty much exactly where some people saw us going.

Cathain: "A basic human right for individuals to be free to believe fact rather than fiction"
"coerced, totalitarian-style law making"

Jonathan Best article in response
'Watch out, gay men  -  the women are coming to get you'
(extract)
!According to Watson, trans communities are denied the ‘basic protections and rights we as gay men enjoy.’ (Watson doesn’t specify what these ‘basic protections and rights’ are).

He makes a powerful plea for allyship:

We, as gay men, must stand with them. Being an ally requires more than passive support. Today’s transphobia is yesterday’s recycled homophobia. We all remember and feel the impact of the pernicious Section 28.
And because he’s not a man to do things by halves, he shoehorns in a Nazi Germany reference:

We are reminded of Martin Niemöller’s poem “First they came for the for the…”
In case any of his readers haven’t got the point yet, he pushes it home with a chilling warning:

Transphobic people aren’t just coming for trans rights; they’re coming for all of us.
So who are these dangerous, vindictive transphobic people  -  and, more importantly, how the hell can we stop them?

I know who they are.

They’re the women who have been abused or raped by men and are now terrified of being in close proximity to a male-bodied person.

They’re the young lesbians who don’t understand why they’re made to feel shame for excluding male-bodied people from their dating pool.

They’re the frightened parents of children who have been rushed into taking puberty blockers because some clinicians are being bullied by a small number of aggressive transgender activists.

They’re the transsexual community, demonised because they don’t believe that ‘trans women are women’ and ‘trans men are men.’

They’re people who want to be sure that women in prison are safe  -  safer than the victims of Karen White were.

They’re the feminists who want to be able to describe their oppression as they choose to describe it, without having their terminology and their politics checked by woke men.

They’re the women who just want to call themselves women  -  and not bleeders, menstruators, cis, non-trans or any other term selected by others.

According to Watson, these are the people who are coming after your rights, gay men." (continues)

Popchyk, how I read the article is that thete are lots of people waiting to jump on bandwagons. And if they do it will be very damaging.

My belief is that ordinary Brits including moderate Muslims, have no problem with homosexuality, and as long as it is introduced in an age appropriate way, no problem with education around homosexuality being in schools. Indeed moderate Moslems may welcome their children being taught about tolerance and the vaues of the society they will live in.

But the T. Medicalisation. ROGD, feshish, child protection, cult, non-science, and so on. Yes a minority of children will have gender dysphoria but the evidence suggests that parents including moderate Muslims have every reason to want to know how this subject is introduced.

So Stonewall. Keep to your origional remit. There is an important battle in schools for a liberal tolerant society which can and needs to be won. Stonewall need to lead on this. They know the majority of society have their doubts about Trans, especially in primary schools. For Gods sake pick ypur battles, otherwise there will be some god-awful and divisive battle to maintain the status quo.
