Gather LM is saying that they had to give up the previous post because they left the area (to go to Goldsmiths) but they're now standing for the women's officer post in Lewisham Deptford CLP. Voting is on Sunday, apparently.

I see somebody in the FB thread saying that she'd checked the names of the people who'd been unenthusiastic about LM with "Compliance" and none were Labour Party members.

Good use of personal data.

R0wantrees · 23/10/2018 17:25

There seems a great deal in common between this Labour FB group, the member of the 'radical' LibDem group who joined the recent thread:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/a3399104-Times-Lib-Dem-trans-activists-hounded-abuse-victim-Natalie-Bird-Article-refers-to-Zoe-OConnell-Sarah-Brown

& Scottish Greens as discussed on current thread:

FekkoTheLawyer · 23/10/2018 17:26

Surely Lily just wants to be 'woman officer' since Lily doesn't actually appear to have actally done anything for women in their last post. If they get elected it will be an absolute nonsense - no track record, bullying, horrible spcial media comments, fragile temperament, no actual agenda apart from me/trans/MEEEEEEE.

What's the point - or does the position not actually have any point (is that the point - it's just a title as labour dont give a stuff about women a anyway?)

ShotsFired · 23/10/2018 17:43

How exceedingly crossmaking. I have a bad habit of leaving Chrome tabs open for hours but sadly not today, or I'd have been able to ensure they were recorded for posterity.

But yes, they have been on a censorship bender (the things you do when you are desperate, eh?). Funny, because now there are several posts refuting transphobia on a thread that has been thoroughly cleansed of any critical commentary. Given the anger I was reading earlier today, 'm not sure that approach is going to hold water for very long!

JetPlanes · 23/10/2018 17:49

This part of that message above from the local community workers really stood out to me:

All that has changed is privileged students have adopted a set of gender identities that allow them to be considered marginalised.

It’s a disgrace that the people who are doing actual real work within the constituency are being ignored / told they are bigots

JetPlanes · 23/10/2018 17:51

Meant to also include this in the quote:
The people we encountered were far from marginalised. In fact they were highly educated, openly classist and aggressive.

Badmoonsarising · 23/10/2018 18:08

Wonder if many women actually want the voluntary post of Women’s Officer. That FB Page is like a little club you can only be a member of if you tick all the approved boxes. I don’t trust Labour when i see who it’s made up of and how intolerant they are.

reallybadidea · 23/10/2018 18:17

Am I going mad or have a bunch of GC comments been deleted?!

BlooperReel · 23/10/2018 18:28

All GC comments removed. They all now look like loons talking to imaginary people, fairly useful though as the silencing of any dissenting voices is very obvious.

Telesilla · 23/10/2018 18:41

Long time lurker here, just joined.
I saw those FB comments and thought they wouldn't last long, so captured the lot. 47 image files
Then I did the same for the remnant half an hour ago. 9 image files.
It now reads like people are ranting at ghosts. Full marks for tidy conformity.

reallybadidea · 23/10/2018 18:44

Well they also removed the comment calling Venice a monger, so it's not all bad Grin

ShotsFired · 23/10/2018 18:49

Well done Telesilla. I genuinely was feeling despondent they'd been deleted.

Can you add them here so there's a nice public record of before and after?

Telesilla · 23/10/2018 18:56

ShotsFired - thank you! I would, gladly, but it would be a terrible bundle of images and I think there's a limit to uploads? Am just trying to work out how to add files.

Jakethecob · 23/10/2018 18:59

Ah Lily. The gift that keeps on giving.

shetheyhim · 23/10/2018 19:04

Some belting comments from that FB thread:
‘all transwomen are women but not all women are trans. Therefore a transwoman can speak of the female experience, but a ciswoman cannot speak on the trans experience.’
So basically women are defunct and second best to any trans woman who will bring more knowledge of what it means to be a woman to any position. Glad they’ve made that clear! Honestly, is there no one else in Lewisham who wants to be a Woman’s Officer - are there no other candidates?

QuietContraryMary · 23/10/2018 19:06

This comment:

"I dispute that the person who has written this is sincere about factionalism on the left. Smears like this are reminiscent of the smears activists on the left have to deal with from the right when we are accused of being anti-semitic. Brockley are not sectarian or terfs as has been insinuated elsewhere.

Brockley branch was recommended 5 delegates by a Momentum phone bank a few days before our AGM last Wednesday including Lily. We immediately planned to include all of them on our slate.

We then checked out those members on members.net and most of them were not resident in Brockley we reported this back to Momentum who chased that up and at the last minute these members changed their address after we had already drawn up our slate. Nevertheless we still intended to include the extra 5 delegates on our slate. One of the Momentum candidates then pulled out. Although we hadn’t met any of the delegates we sent out a doodle poll in order that left members in Brockley could democratically decide to include the extra delegates. We also had a meeting. At that meeting we were made aware of a complaint made to Labour HQ involving 2 members (nothing to with Lily). In light of this information our members decided not to include the new names (our poll was for or against all 5, we couldn’t include just one, ie Lily) until we had met them. Brockley are very proud to have Lily as a member and will support her in her political activity. I would suggest she be allowed to speak for herself and not be used as a way to score points.

After our AGM Brockley members spoke to 3 of the five candidates Momentum recommended (including Lily) and there was no ill feeling, we all regret not including the new names but don’t apologise for the reasoning behind our decision.

Bill Jeffries. No one on the Brockley left voted against Sophia Mangera. She got more votes than some of our most prominent and oldest left members, I won’t mention names here. She is actually tied with 3 other left members and one from the right. Of those 5, 3 will go through as delegates at our run-off AGM on Wednesday. Racism played no part in Sophia not being elected just as transphobia didn’t play a part in Lily not being on our slate."

So they voted for far-left nutters but they weren't the right far-left nutters (who didn't even live in the constituency (all Goldsmiths' students?)) so they got accused of being evil TERF racist Nazi scumbags.

But they still got told they are evil racist Nazi terfs, because anytime you don't elect a transperson it's because you are an evil terf, even if there are other reasons:

"Faiza Mahmood Interesting interpretation of events. Transphobia and anti-semitism are real, and decrying any criticism from the left as ‘smears’ doesn’t change the facts or excuse your part in it."

Absolute shower of unelectable shit

Butterymuffin · 23/10/2018 19:11

And this is why we won't get a Labour government next time round in spite of the Tories being an absolute disaster. The average voter won't entertain this kind of hokum.

placemats · 23/10/2018 19:14

Left wing momentum woke bros who HATE all women short lists, especially within the CLPs and especially the role of women's officer because it means they don't get to go to the Labour Party Conference every year.

The Facebook comments are very interesting with the vast majority of them against this.

QuietContraryMary · 23/10/2018 19:14

Oh, and there's a comment from disgusting vile misogynist [name removed] there, one of the most foul vile creatures you could hope to come across.

He's saying 'terfs get a life'.

In a previous life he posted such comments as 'I got skanked by a whore' about his encounter with a prostitute and other similar vile misogynist content on the Brighton supporters forums.

People like him hate women with a burning passion, but no it's the 'terfs' that the Bromentum shitheads delete.

placemats · 23/10/2018 19:20

The thing is not to stand against a trans woman in the Constituency elections.

Madigan could easily be the LGBT representative. Madigan has taken that post away from a woman with children, maybe unemployed, maybe a single mum, with a wealth of experience.

Writing slogans on your hand was something you did in school. Not university.

Grow up Madigan

placemats · 23/10/2018 19:21

The Labour Party are as much of a disgrace as the Tories and the LibDems.

FekkoTheLawyer · 23/10/2018 19:23

No they are worse. Women - working women - were the spine of the labour movement for so many years. Now look how they are treated.

It's not a party for 'workers' it's a bunch of twatty little over priveledged boys and student politics that never grew up.

placemats · 23/10/2018 19:23

Pictures of the comments were taken at around midday.

Who fucking cares anyway?

These people KNOW that their actions mean Labour wont get elected.

MyAuntyBadger · 23/10/2018 19:23

The period poverty concern was advised at the 'We're still here' meeting, to pretend they're interested in women's rights occasionally. Period poverty was given as a specific example as given in R0wantrees link up thread.

Has it occurred to anyone in the Labour Party that LM's unpopularity has nothing to do with their trans status and is simply due to their personality?

qumquat · 23/10/2018 19:24

Oh boy. That FB thread. Apparently transwomen make better women's officers because they understand being trans and a woman. Whereas c I s women only understand one of those!!!!!
