I'm not one for posting threads on here but I feel this is quite a sad position for this person and shows how hard it is to maintain a professional stance on this when you are receiving threats and abuse at the levels that are currently happening on the Internet, in no way am I saying this is gender critical people. But this debate as now got to such a level that it is starting to cost people there livelihoods on both sides of this so called debate.

I have particularly enjoyed the tantrums of 'i am not a man'.

Because fuck me sideways - even without a photo - you appear to act like one, talk like one and mantrum like one.

Datun · 11/08/2018 14:31

I think Gregor is in his 30s? It's such a shame that they don't feel capable of expressing themselves outside the gender binary, without renaming themselves.

I do understand why people call themselves non-binary. Women want to minimise their femaleness, and men, I believe, want to embrace it, in terms of femininity.

People, men and women, used to be so relaxed about it. It was never shocking, significant, eye-opening.

It was just fun. Exploratory.

But no one ever said they were oppressed for it!

LangCleg · 11/08/2018 14:38

I'm oppressed on account of my taste in breakfast cereals. (You are all evil Weetabix-phobes, by the way.)

I want a special label too.

LaSquirrel · 11/08/2018 14:38

I just checked the reddit feed that TimeLady dropped in - he's still at it 12 minutes ago - this time he is calling the Lesbian 8 "anti-trans bigots".

He seems to be an anti-female activist of some sort. I guess if we called him an anti-female bigot, that would be against the Guidelines?

I like Yorkie bars and use man size kleenex. What's my label?

paintedwingsandgiantrings · 11/08/2018 14:46

JFC. So this guy has to leave because of repeatedly abusing women online calling them cunts.

But he gets a story on the BBC under the headline Trans councillor leaves roles after 'threats to life'

DARVO in full force, backed by the BBC.

How do we complain to the BBC?

LangCleg · 11/08/2018 14:48

He seems to be an anti-female activist of some sort.

And one who should get a bit better at it. I mean, the Sparkly Wellies Chapter has some work to do if it wants to be a real player, surely. This is all feebly pompous stuff.

littlbrowndog · 11/08/2018 14:50

Gawd every singl3 time trying to silence women with the prashe
“ anti trans bigots”

The Gregor really really misses the point

"An educational aim of the Scout Programme is to encourage the spiritual development of young people. Belief and its exploration helps Scouts to learn from other faiths and develop their personal beliefs and values. Scouts are open and willing to explore faiths whether established or defined or not. Learning about other faiths, beliefs and attitudes can help to make the world a more tolerant place. "

I think the OP's BBC article likely demonstrates the increasing relience on Social Media to generate rolling news.

This was touched upon in the discussion about the importance of BBC reporting about foreign news yesterday evening on R4

Hangingaroundtheportal · 11/08/2018 15:09

Snotty Chocci - love it!

Cartertheunstoppablesexmachine · 11/08/2018 15:13

I've submitted my complaint to the BBC. The form states that complaints will be discussed in a meeting the next morning, so I am hoping there will be a number of complaints for the biased Beeb to chew on.

R0wantrees · 11/08/2018 15:13

@BarbieInTheDreamHouse Gregor Murray is still posting on SM having said they need to step away for their health. Hopefully their friends will support them to do this.
As you state, what they say will, as someone with a public role & responsibility, be critiqued.

IncrediblySturdyPyjamas · 11/08/2018 15:15

Snotty chocci.

Rufus such a funny reindeer. always.

happygolurkey · 11/08/2018 15:54

BBC have only reported half the story - not Gregor's nasty posts which led to this. Gregor sounds like a bit of a bully. It should also be pointed out that Gregor has only resigned from one post - the children's committee - and is still a councillor - though i don't really understand why. Other councillors have been booted out for posts equally offensive.

TimeLady · 11/08/2018 16:07

From the Reddit account:

Well done, resigning always feels good. Got something lined up already?

grogipher submitted 21 hours ago
Nope! Financially screwed

• submitted 21 hours ago
Ahh well then, tighten the belt and cancel the subscriptions. Hopefully won't be too long on the couch

grogipher submitted 21 hours ago
Well, I’ve just resigned one role (c£5k), I still get my base salary (c£17k). But mehhh. We’ll see.

RiceandBeans · 11/08/2018 16:12

Well, in a brief engagement with this person on Twitter - they denied being a man (ahem, the beard is a dead giveaway) and denied being opposed to 50% representation of women.

I did consider for a moment offering a short personal tutorial on the difference between sex and gender (I am a bit of a world expert in aspects of that topic) but

I.Could.Not.Be.Arsed

I get paid a lot of money to do that irl, so I don’t give it away to misogynistic sociopaths Grin Grin

SturdyEarmuffs · 11/08/2018 16:18

Here's some more of the councillor's work based on this

<a class="break-all" href="http://go.mumsnet.com/?xs=1&id=470X1554755&url=www.lgbtyouth.org.uk/media/1344/supporting-transgender-young-people.pdf" target="_blank">http://go.mumsnet.com/?xs=1&id=470X1554755&url=www.lgbtyouth.org.uk/media/1344/supporting-transgender-young-people.pdf

Which was part of this article in the herald here

http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/16311379.schools-forget-girls-in-rush-to-adopt-pro-trans-guidance-campaigners-claim-as-christian-group-threatens-legal-action/

And here is the councillor pushing the no-longer-endorsed-by-Scottish-government LGBT Youth pack in a primary school

https://www.lgbtyouth.org.uk/news/2018/june/first-primary-school-in-scotland-awarded-the-lgbt-charter/

&

https://mobile.twitter.com/grogipher/status/1009117682015391745?s=21

He's still a councillor.

LassWiADelicateAir · 11/08/2018 16:26

I don't know why Bespin is so determined to defend this person.

I mean I get very annoyed at the lazy hackneyed slurs I sometimes see on MN about lawyers being money grubbing hucksters, and will take issue with that, but I don't leap to the defence of individual lawyers who have actually behaved badly.

Ereshkigal · 11/08/2018 16:28

I've just read your exchange with Gregor Murray, Rice!
