Here’s what I want to know. I’m a butch lesbian. How come NO TRANS PEOPLE EVER have:
-tried to convince me I’m trans
-tried to stop me using “lesbian”
-interrogated me about whether I will have sex with trans women
-erased me in literally any possible way

And yet, conversely, transphobic feminists have repeatedly:
-tried to stop me using queer to describe myself
-interrogated me about who I’m willing to have sex with
-told me the answer makes me “not a lesbian”
-erased my voice repeatedly in their claim to speak for lesbians

I’m not exaggerating even a tiny bit when I say that the level of harassment I have had simply for opposing TERFs is incomparably more than all the homophobia I’ve experienced in my life. So - you’ll forgive me if I find the “defending lesbians” rhetoric a bit hard to swallow

Also, she claims to be woke and inclusive but would she fuck as like go out with or sleep with a fully intact trans woman. No she wouldn't and nor would all the other conveniently coupled up lesbians (to biological females of course) who state that trans women are our sisters. So hypocritical.

This would only be hypocritical if she was urging other lesbians to have sex with trans women...

How can she be a lesbian and never have stated her sexual preference?

It feels like the lesbian community are really split on this issue.

Well from a psychological view point it makes perfect sense. Intuitively Pro art experiences create a far greater impression than secondary experiences. So if you are in the thick of it and you are only being hassled by the gethelout people then it's quite natural to find it hard to bekuevr that trabsacticists could be the problem. But if you observing though media for example you end up with a very different impression because you have no pro ary experiences to draw on.

Yes racecardriver i think this is a good point. Most of the examples I see of trans people (and others) implying biological sex is irrelevant to sexual orientation are online. Lots of tumblr and Twitter. How far this is carried over into real life is hard to know

I think of all the complex cognitive dissonances this issue throws up for me, the idea of two people with penises having anal sex and calling themselves lesbians is the most complex. But this obviously shows that I am obsessed with genitals....

Well, indirectly she is doing that by dismissing the concerns of lesbians who are complaining about this. If she thinks that women can have penises and that there is no difference between a trans woman and a natal woman, she is a hypocrite.

The fact is, if this singer came out in support of TERFs, she would lose her career. She would be no-platformed, have her social media flooded with hate, and so forth. Women like her cannot be honest about the situation.

I think the leaflets that the group at pride handed out did not help matters and have probably tipped her and others like her over the edge. Very, very alienating to most not already deeply invested in GC thought.

Wanting to be nice is still her being a hypocrite. She is invalidating some quite legitimate concerns and writing them off as bigotry pure and simple.

I had to Google her. I'm not weighing in on the lesbian/pride/trans/whatever bit but she makes my teeth itch.

She exemplifies exactly why I am now firmly divorced from left wing politics and the Labour party.

She has very little musical talent. She can strum along 3 basic chords and is labouring under the delusion that singing in a working class , non- metropolitan accent will disguise the fact she has an uninteresting and forgettable voice.

Lots of tedious , unoriginal "poltical protest" songs which because because of her lack of talent all sound exactly the same.

Lots of whinging and whining and self-congratulatory guff on Twitter.

She is also one of the many, deeply unoriginal and deeply unfunny performers on The Now Show.

Lots and lots of how awful the Tories are and I just think , yes well they might be but things would be a whole lot worse if people like her were in charge.

On reflection "3 basic chords" is being kind to her. Her style of playing is just generic strumming.

I love it. Lass is disparaging about Grace's musical ability.
It is pointed out that Grace has seen the thread.
Lass, with refined class, doubles down on the opinion because she knows Grace is now watching.
Reminds me of my cat, judging me scornfully from the other side of the room, suddenly being gifted with speech and saying, "Yes? You expected compliments for that ensemble?"
