A woman is an adult female human

Pratchet · 03/07/2018 10:18

Of the sex whose reproductive role is to gestate and bear young.

Let's just say this while we still can. Because it's true, and however many people try to make us lie about it, or remain silent, it will always be true.

In times of universal deceit, speaking the truth is a revolutionary act.

It hurts MY feelings to see 'transwomen are women'. It damages MY mental health to see that, it makes ME feel erased and MY identity feel destroyed. I have a voice and I deserve that voice. WE deserve it.

I am Spartacus. A woman is an adult female human. Sex is binary, immutable and defined by reproductive role.

If you report me, or get me banned you shoot the messenger. Because this is true and will always be true. And this day, this day of a lie, I WILL say it.

#Spartacus

I would normally rtft, but am so inflamed by the moderator post on page one.

A woman IS an adult female human.

That is absolute biological fact.

There is nothing immutable about that fact. There is nothing offensive in women stating and re-stating that fact.

I have stayed out if these discussions, but read them for months. I have not posted because I do feel strongly that trans people do deserve rights and support, but I absolutely cannot ever support a position where Mumsnet deny women’s rights to their collective biological identity.

Scrotal graft

That's really interesting - thanks! Where do the mucosal cells come from though?

The petition to parliament is still open:

'Consult with women on proposals to enshrine 'gender identity' in law'

"The government proposes to amend the law to allow people to self-identify as men or women, and to stop allowing organisations in sensitive situations to exclude people of the opposite birth sex. We call for women to be consulted on how to protect women and girls' rights, safety, privacy and dignity.

More details
We call for:

  • Respectful and evidence-based discussion about the impact of proposed changes and for women's voices to be heard.

  • The government to consult with women’s organisations on how self-declaration would impact on women-only services and spaces, data-gathering, and monitoring of sex-based discrimination.

  • The principle of single-sex spaces to be upheld – and where necessary extended.'

It currently stands at 12 429 and the government have today launched the consultation.

At 100,000 signatures, this petition will be considered for debate in Parliament

You have women actively disagreeing with the trans ideology and you have women who don't specify, for whatever reason. It could be the bomb threats, it could be disagreement.

But until I see 13,000 women signing a petition to say they actively agree with the trans ideology, I will be firmly of the opinion that most women don't, or don't know about it.

pombear · 03/07/2018 21:01

I don't know how to put a heart in here so I'm going to do Halo Halo Halo and a [santa] just for the hell of it.

Off to steam my vagina (not!)

Ugh, look, to be clear I support the petition

You are very quick to take the piss out of it though. How about you go and get a few hundred to sign it? Put some substance into your talk?

Pratchet · 03/07/2018 21:03

Can you imagine boiling water in one's veg pan then wobbling upstairs with it for a bit of a hover

You misunderstand me Melamin, I'm not signing it! I just support the endeavour. I'm quietly confident it's unnecessary, but then I do seem to have more faith in the human race to not descend into societal chaos in the face of transgenderism than most round here. So perhaps I'm the optimist.

pombear · 03/07/2018 21:05

As long as you don't accidentally add an extra vowel Pratchet and end up with a hoovering of nether regions!

Anyway, derailing, Sorry all - before I go. A woman is an adult female human.

Night all.

WhatTheWatersShowedMe · 03/07/2018 21:05

For fucks sake get your shit together MNHQ.

Melamin · 03/07/2018 21:07

You misunderstand me Melamin, I'm not signing it!

Hmm
Datun · 03/07/2018 21:07

For fucks sake get your shit together MNHQ.

Lol, the entire thread in one sentence.

LangCleg · 03/07/2018 21:07

Can we not divert a thread of women's solidarity into a discussion on transgender surgeries. It's deeply inappropriate.

By the way, the actual polling carried out so far indicates 18% or 25% support for legislative change, depending on whether you prefer Pink News or Wings Over Scotland's polling.

This is a top down imposition completely against public opinion, let alone scientific reality.

littlbrowndog · 03/07/2018 21:12

Naw so not right rat

I don’t want to play against men in my sport just cos they say they female or get into a space I thought was for women

It would stop me playing my sport.

That’s what this stuff is about the small stuff but yet it would be so big in women’s lifev

RatRolyPoly · 03/07/2018 21:12

Datun it's an either/or situation though is it. At least it needn't be. No-one should go around saying "you're either with us, or you're against us!" - and yet so many do. And that's not helpful.

Most people just want to rub along in society with all sorts of people they don't necessarily agree with. No-one wants anyone to be made more vulnerable than others, no-one wants us to be unequal, and most just want to get along. They draw sensible lines, like "toilets are fine, rape crisis centres not so much" and "sure, I'll call a transwoman a woman in a social context".

They won't be signing any petitions. And they're neither "with" transgenderism nor "against" it.

RatRolyPoly · 03/07/2018 21:18

It's NOT an either/or situation, christ!

R0wantrees · 03/07/2018 21:20

Not sure if this is an additional poll that RoseofDawn has quoted?

WomanLifeIsGoodish · 03/07/2018 21:21

I just posted a wise ass post but honestly I can’t be bothered with the deletion.

Its like they think none of us have ever been on the receiving end of misogynistic gas lighting before. Like we won’t know what’s happening.

Honestly MNHQ, grow a beard and support Everton and you could be my Dad asking about my ‘little job’ and patting me on the fucking head every time you walk past. (I’m a 40 odd year old IT Manager).

Baroquehavoc · 03/07/2018 21:21

If men were capable of behaving themselves, women would need as much sex segregation as they do. If you're not happy with sex segregation, you are moaning to the wrong people.

Baroquehavoc · 03/07/2018 21:22

Wouldn't.

LangCleg · 03/07/2018 21:22

That's the Pink News one, R0wan.

Most usually, the don't knows, when pressed, fall into the same proportions as the yeses and nos, by the way.

AtreidesFreeWoman · 03/07/2018 21:22

Yes MNHQ

shit + together = women who provide site content (whopsc)

whpsc x fwr x lurkers = a proportion of your advertising market

Women I know, when I explain what's going on don't need to peak- they just get it.

And they are angry that the word WOMEN is used to describe someone that biologically isn't so. Hasn't experienced life as a WOMAN.

Hasn't been through puberty as a WOMAN.

Start the rebranding now to transnet....

Let's see how the advertising goes

UnderHerEye · 03/07/2018 21:23

@MNHQ

It’s time for you to decide who you stand for, there are millions of posters who use your website everyday, women who have found support on here, women who have found the help they needed through pregnancy and birth; infertility struggles; fighting cancer; leaving a violent relationship; dealing with their own disabilities; dealing with children’s disabilities; dealing with loved ones going on deployment; finding the confidence to return to work, or to retrain; finding the confidence to make friends; and so much more.

Women have used this site to support each other, to make friends, to share their grief and pain, and sometimes just to share a joke or have a chat. There are thousands of forums on the net but this one, mumsnet, was accessible to women primarily because it was mainly women posting.

So who do you stand for @MNHQ? your users? or a group of people who actively despise your users, and your site?
