A woman is an adult female human

Pratchet · 03/07/2018 10:18

Of the sex whose reproductive role is to gestate and bear young.

Let's just say this while we still can. Because it's true, and however many people try to make us lie about it, or remain silent, it will always be true.

In times of universal deceit, speaking the truth is a revolutionary act.

It hurts MY feelings to see 'transwomen are women'. It damages MY mental health to see that, it makes ME feel erased and MY identity feel destroyed. I have a voice and I deserve that voice. WE deserve it.

I am Spartacus. A woman is an adult female human. Sex is binary, immutable and defined by reproductive role.

If you report me, or get me banned you shoot the messenger. Because this is true and will always be true. And this day, this day of a lie, I WILL say it.

#Spartacus

Snappity

They have to use synthetic lubrication as, you know,

That's factually incorrect. Depending on the skill of the surgeon the new vagina wall can become mucousal so that synthetic lubricatiin might be unnecessary.

Why does it depend upon the school of the surgeon?

Datun · 03/07/2018 20:44

*skill.

Theinconstantgardener · 03/07/2018 20:45

What’s worrying to me is the thought-police action around speech and the shutting down of the right to be able to disagree and immediately labelling it as transphobic,” Roberts said
Oh and trans women are not women

RatRolyPoly · 03/07/2018 20:46

You are taking a poll from 12 million women.

Wasn't there a quite literal poll - a petition in fact - put out to those 12 million women? And of them, their families, their friends and their acquaintances only 13k wanted to sign?

So... 11.99 million unconvinced.

Datun · 03/07/2018 20:47

Having seen how Mumsnet HQ is being barracked when they give their reasoning, do you really think a trans ally is going to answer questions about their reasoning?

It would be a novel and unique experience.

MrsRRR · 03/07/2018 20:47

It's not vaginal lubrication though, is it?

It's colonic lubrication

Cistersaredoingitforthemselves · 03/07/2018 20:48

It's colonic lubrication

Confused
ReluctantCamper · 03/07/2018 20:48

oy vey

having cosmetic surgery on your nether regions does not mean you've changed sex

Datun · 03/07/2018 20:48

rat

What poll, can you link to it? One that reached all 12 million women?

Elletorro · 03/07/2018 20:51

And

Take a breather

Pratchet · 03/07/2018 20:51

Well there's the fear, Rat. And the bullying. And the doxxing. And MN data insecurity. And the frivolous complaints to employers. Oh and the bomb threat. And the punching. And the blockading. And the hacking. And the harassment. So you know. A few other factors.

Erm. I think the people being 'barracked' right now are those who are defending the definition of an adult human female.

Surely if you're confident enough to state your position on a feminism chat board on Mumsnet, you're confident to back it up with evidence and facts?

You really think that those who are just stating 'transwomen are women' over and over again is a strategy that helps the debate? And they're somehow reluctant to back up their statements because MNHQ is barracked?

This is what we hear over and over again, 'oh, it's been said already', 'oh, why would we answer questions' and yet 'you must believe us, transwomen are women - end of debate'.

I've been here for months, I have seen no coherent definition of female that covers transwomen in the definition, apart from 'cos we say we are'.

Aren't you talking about Mumsnet's 12 million unique visitors? Tell me if I've misunderstood you post; it's your number in quoting.

How many of them do you think saw the petition then? There have been enough threads and links to the thing, how about we say it reached a very conservative 100,000 of those 12,000,000.

13% signed.

87% unconvinced.

Don't you think it probably reached more than 100k of your quoted 12 million?

Elletorro · 03/07/2018 20:53

Rat

Let’s talk about this in a bit yeah?

Pratchet · 03/07/2018 20:54

Oh, you're talking about the petition. Yes, 13,000 women signed it.

Frankly, I would really like a proper poll.

The problem with surveys, as with public debates, is the opportunity to put your case forward.

And then address whatever your opponent says.

It would be very useful to be able to do this.

Elletorro · 03/07/2018 20:55

RatRolyPoly · 03/07/2018 20:58

Ugh, look, to be clear I support the petition. I support approaching service providers etc. and interrogating the procedures they have in place to protect women, children and all other service users. That's my kind of feminism; practical stuff for women and girls.

A six millionth thread with 1000 posts on what some bloke defined the word "woman" as however many years ago is bullshit. And I'd bet a very good many of those 12 million think so too.
