Whoop!

I'm pretty sure Hadley's here Wink

Great article. I feel she addressed all my concerns succinctly Grin

Tackytriceratops · 31/03/2018 09:07

Smashed it.

the reason women-only spaces exist is not to protect some special inner feminine essence, but because there are significant physical differences between male-born bodies and female-born ones, and the latter have long been at a disadvantage.

I could quote the whole thing tbh.

Well done Hadley. Shame comments don't seem to be enabled.

Tackytriceratops · 31/03/2018 09:10

Might be a thinly veiled criticism of OJ.

She's left it quite open ended but lots of links to the main issues.

Brilliant article. And in the Graniud too. That's very unexpected.

NotBadConsidering · 31/03/2018 09:13

Comments on the Guardian are a massive bug bear of mine at the moment. They are going through this phase of not opening comments if they're likely to generate controversy e.g. every trans article going. They also close comments early if they aren't going the way they should. Their "Guardian Picks" are a joke. And the other day I had a comment disappear when I took issue with the anti-abortion line of Sally Phillips' article about special education needs. The Guardian is censorship in full flow hoping Hadley really is here and reading this.

Irishfeminist · 31/03/2018 09:14

Ha! Go Hadley. There have been thinly veiled digs at O*n J**s for months now on Twitter, I bet there's some raging infighting at Guardian Towers.

massi71 · 31/03/2018 09:14

Fucking love this article!

CAAKE · 31/03/2018 09:15

THANK YOU Hadley Thanks

I love Hadley! I'm stunned this made it into the Guardian - I bet little OJ is mantrumming like mad this morning!

Irishfeminist · 31/03/2018 09:17

Also, I've noticed they recently binned the wonderful Deborah Orr. It'd be awful to see the older, wiser women being marginalised and replaced with blue haired ninnies who have no life experience. OJ recently wondered how come younger feminists agree with him, not realising he'd answered his own question. Sad

StringandGlitter · 31/03/2018 09:18

Thank you Hadley. Thank you for presenting the argument so clearly.

ReluctantCamper · 31/03/2018 09:19

About bloody time. Fabulous article Hadley. How long and how hard did you have to shout to get it written?

The guardian can still fuck right off as far as I'm concerned.

MorrisZapp · 31/03/2018 09:21

Bloody brilliant.

Deborah Orr was spouting transwomen are women by the way, in the Independent the other week.

👍🏻 very pleased to see this in the guardian today, hopefully get more people to wake up to the reality of self ID!

GreyGauntlet · 31/03/2018 09:23

Thank you Hadley

You are brave and we thank you

TerfsUp · 31/03/2018 09:25

A huge thanks to Ami Desir, aka ManFriday, and to Hadley Freeman for picking the story up.

Of course The Guardian wouldn't enable comments for this: it goes against their editorial policy of (1) uncritical support of transideology and (2) not opening comments for anything serious.

I cannot wait for The Guardian to burn through the rest of the Scott Trust money.

pastabest · 31/03/2018 09:25

Might be a thinly veiled criticism of OJ

I read it as an outright declaration of war Grin

Extremely good column. Very accessible, manages to centre the discussion about women and their concerns.

It's the first article I think I could actually get away with sharing on social media without it having professional consequences.

MorrisZapp · 31/03/2018 09:25

Fucking hell Hadders. How on earth did you get that epic, banging rant past the overlords? I am in awe.

Henceforth, this day must be called Hadley Day.

Irishfeminist · 31/03/2018 09:27

@MorrisZapp was she? :-( Maybe she has nowhere else to go in terms of work. I've always found her spiky and interesting and unlikely to toe the line.

pastabest · 31/03/2018 09:28

Any man, who has no idea what it’s like to be oppressed as a woman or self-identified trans woman, and who comes riding in on a white horse and tries to shut down the debate with inflammatory language, is not helping

Grin Grin

IStillMissBlockbuster · 31/03/2018 09:28

Wow! So now we're allowed to say:

"Gender is a feeling and biology is a physical fact, and the reason women-only spaces exist is not to protect some special inner feminine essence, but because there are significant physical differences between male-born bodies and female-born ones, and the latter have long been at a disadvantage."

THIS is what it boils down to and what TRAs and their allies have been trying to stop us saying for years. But it is the truth and the truth will out. The tide is turning.

RaininSummer · 31/03/2018 09:29

Beetroot llama ant. Ha ha... my first word was brilliant but that auto correct is amusing me so have left it. Anyway, brilliant and have shared on fb. Good job.
