The comments on the fb page are appalling and quite dim. And misogynistic.

newtlover · 31/03/2018 12:28

how do we email her direct? I can't find an email address?

BoreOfWhabylon · 31/03/2018 12:36

Well done Hadley

And well done Amy aka @YesItsADebate and Hannah aka @SwearyG for peak-transing her

Flowers all round

Yay for Hadley! But have still lost faith in the Guardian. Once it's gone, it's gone.

PissMinge · 31/03/2018 13:10

Stupid person hasnt read it but knows its bad 😀 Reminds me of my kids saying "yuck, ive never eaten mushrooms but I know I wont like them"

Thanks Hadley ThanksThanks

wildduckhunt · 31/03/2018 13:12

Hah the Facebook comments are a lot like that too. Men getting uppity at the headline without actually reading the article, where she pretty much does NAMALT for them.

PaleBlueMoonlight · 31/03/2018 13:14

Accordingly to the Guardian contact page it is Firstname.lastname@ theguardian.com

Elendon · 31/03/2018 13:18

Hadley Freeman is an excellent and competent journalist.

There is understandable concern about being on the wrong side of history. But I’ll tell you what has never put anyone on the right side of history: shouting women down.

Tackytriceratops · 31/03/2018 13:19

Piss I may pop on later and point out how to be a critical thinker.

OP posts:
Tinycitrus · 31/03/2018 13:26

The comments on Facebook are quite shocking - but the most shocking thing is that the majority of comments that are critical of the article are from men.

And one woman who has commented in a fairly neutral way has apparently been reported to her employer by one of these ‘heroes’

whatwouldkatyactuallydonext · 31/03/2018 13:35

Thank you Hadley! Thanks
Great article that I've shared on FB where I've been out as gender critical for a whole week! Had a few tentative likes on links, a few comments from supportive men, and a spectacular slating, flounce and block from a 'right on' female relative (handmaiden type) but mostly silence from everyone else - but if I can peaktrans a few of them, even if they don't admit it, it'd be great Smile

hipsterfun · 31/03/2018 13:41

This is something women and trans women will have to work out between themselves.

Male people need to make room for male people who do male differently.

Telling female people they need to work stuff out with TRAs is like suggesting counselling for an abusive relationship.

But great work all the same, Hadley Flowers

LaContessaDiPlump · 31/03/2018 13:42

YERSSSS.

Thank you Hadley!!!

ErrolTheDragon · 31/03/2018 13:44

but the most shocking thing is that the majority of comments that are critical of the article are from men

How ironic, but entirely predictable. They're doing exactly what she said.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 31/03/2018 14:05

I had to read the article twice to check it said what I thought it said!

Thank you, Hadley. Flowers

Elendon · 31/03/2018 14:06

I can't see the article on Facebook.

What is the twitter feed like?

53rdWay · 31/03/2018 14:11

Twitter has a lot of women saying thank you to her and a lot of men complaining. Also some (mostly younger) women complaining, including someone who says Hadley now has blood on her hands(!). Also some complaints about how awful Mumsnet is.

Am pleasantly surprised to see a fair few men agreeing with her too; one bloke I know who I didn’t think of as gender critical or engaged with feminism in any way retweeted it and said she’s right.

FencingFightingTorture35 · 31/03/2018 14:12

Hadley you are a wonder. Well done, thank you and solidarity 💪

Popchyk · 31/03/2018 14:18

Owen Jones on Twitter chucking his toys out the pram about this. For a change.

He is the real victim of course. It is all about him. And he is being targeted by Hadley not because he is a brocialist but because he is gay.

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 31/03/2018 14:24

Just seen she is trending on Twitter, give her some support if you can!

cornflakegirl · 31/03/2018 14:32

Thank you Hadley!

Zeugma · 31/03/2018 14:46

Hadley Freeman's article is great.

However, elsewhere in the very same paper today.....

So the Guardian's KoolAid consumption hasn't exactly decreased.

Daff0dil · 31/03/2018 14:47

This is such an important article and Im adding my huge thanks to Hadley.
I truly believe that we must untangle the focus to highlighting women's concerns, and how some very powerful TRAs have framed these as 'anti transgender people'. These TRAs have driven the narrative incredibly effectively by deliberate misrepresentation, abuse of twitter mechanisms (mass blocking) and fuelling the genuine fears and horrific experiences of many in the transgender community. The deliberate polarisation of 'anti-trans' vs 'evil terfs' denies much needed & respectful debate.

hackmum · 31/03/2018 14:47

"I also find the pretence that critics of trans rights are being silenced mystified" says Owen Jones (he means mystifying, obviously).

He clearly hasn't been paying much attention, then, has he?
