Transmen are women in dresses. Even if they choose not to wear dresses that's what they are. They need serious professional help

You mean psychologists, psychiatrists, multiple appointments?

That kind of serious, professional help happens to trans people.

SuburbanRhonda · 21/03/2018 17:06

Don't you get BORED of talking about this EVERY DAY

Why are you still on this thread?

missmoz · 21/03/2018 17:08

If transgender is identifying as the opposite sex then where does the gender neutral bit come in? Does Jack, a biological female, identify as a gender neutral man? Therefore transgender, is that it? Or a gender neutral woman, in which case not trans?

It doesn't necessarily mean identifying as the opposite sex, it means identifying as a gender that doesn't align with your sex.

Jack, a biological female, identifies as gender neutral..neither male nor female. The trans bit (from transitioning) is because it's still a transition from one gender to another (neutral)

Not saying I think this is all gospel, but that's what the terms mean.

WazFlimFlam well you're referring to transsexuals who have had medical assistance to transition, which some people choose to do and some don't, don't see how it's offensive.

Carouselfish · 21/03/2018 17:08

I don't know who these fools are.
Win.

flowersonthepiano · 21/03/2018 17:13

I am a woman. I don’t feel like I am a specific gender. Does that make me trans then? Who knew? Hmm

BlackeyedSusan · 21/03/2018 17:15

I want to self identify as a sloth. all that sleep, hanging around doing nothing all day.

CanIBuffalo · 21/03/2018 17:16

I could summon up quite a bit of pity for JM and LM but then they just say stupid like this and my cynical self just thinks nah, they're just deluded publicity whores and I just can't get past that.

Coconutandcoriander · 21/03/2018 17:18

She’s quite clearly identifying as ‘A Girl Called Jack’ Confused

VladmirsPoutine · 21/03/2018 17:21

Forgive me, I made a typo. I meant transwomen. Though I can't be fucked with all the changing terminology.

And yes I am in agreement, they need all sorts of appointments with various professionals to get to the root of their mental health problems.

Don't you get BORED of talking about this EVERY DAY

I can't help but think you're attempting to silence this debate but if I'm wrong and you're genuinely bored of it, I suggest you do what I do when I see posts I've no interest in (plenty) - simply don't read them.
I don't understand why you would take the time to read & post on a subject you consider boring?

Popchyk · 21/03/2018 17:23

"Jack, a biological female, identifies as gender neutral..neither male nor female."

The bit I'm struggling with is that I have no clue what she is identifying with. What are the attributes and characteristics of "neutral"?

Is it the absence of something?

How can you define yourself as something that can't be defined?

LangCleg · 21/03/2018 17:24

Some of us are trying to help you avoid a Handmaid's future. Unless you intend to enjoy life as an Aunt.

So no, not in the least bored.

Now today, an entire thread about some utterly pointless tweet that shouldn't even raise an eyebrow

Well - I can see it from 2 points of view.

A prominent female author with a large platform on Twitter seems to be on the side of many women on here when it comes to self ID - so that's a big deal.

OTOH - she has also endorsed a tweet using the term 'men in dresses'. Which is a well known put down to transwomen. So that's also a big deal for some.

dworky · 21/03/2018 17:35

I am very, very bored of it.

So don't engage then! Go find something that interests you instead of trying to derail that which (apparently) bores you.

Datun · 21/03/2018 17:36

Most women on here make a distinction between transsexuals and Johnny Come Lately transwomen/fetishists/transvestites/ autogynephiles.

If JK Rowling isn't aware of the distinction, she might well be only referring to that second cohort, without realising.

Djnoun · 21/03/2018 17:41

Why should I have to hide the entire feminism topic to avoid this shit?

I've put up with the transphobia on MN for... God, who knows how long now. We all have. We've all become bored of it. It's got to the point that it is rarely challenged anymore, because it's been established that the matter is beyond the realms of proper debate, and is instead an echo chamber of

I hate trans people

Yeah, me too. I totally hate them.

Hey, do you want to hear the latest update about what someone on twitter said that is vaguely on the subject?

Ooh yes. I so hate trans people.

Yeah, me too. Hate them. Hate them.

Hey, don't you think trans people are like sooo aggressive?

Confused WHEN WILL IT END??

SpringNowPlease2018 · 21/03/2018 17:43

um.....OP has Jack actually said she wants to be IDing as a man, changed from Mx to Mr etc?

Because I can't see anything like that from this tweet.

PositivelyPERF · 21/03/2018 17:43

Don't you get BORED of talking about this EVERY DAY

I get BORED with men trying to steal the women’s places, safe spaces and even the right to call themselves women. But I’m going to keep on reading threads that call out people who are willing to sacrifice women and girls’ safety and rights.

Thank you for posting about how bored you are, because the more you complain and the more posters that come on spouting nonsense about us all being nasty transphobes, the more you give me the incentive to fight back.

HakunaDentata · 21/03/2018 17:44

I've NEVER read anything about anyone hating transpeople on these threads Hmm

VladmirsPoutine · 21/03/2018 17:44

Call yourself whatever you like. No-one gives a single shit. What I give a shit about is the imposition and degradation of women's rights and spaces.

Perverse and pervasive terminology such as 'cis', 'non-binary' and 'pan'-whatever is very dangerous.

I make no secret of the fact that I am a Terf. If in doubt about your sex then check your genitals. If you want to break-down gender stereotypes then I'll stand side-by-side with you; granted it's not some sort of point-scoring exercise to appear politically correct.

Liam has rendered me unable to ever vote for Labour again. Jack needs help. And the normalisation of this is why we now have so many young people going through MH crises over their identity. No child is 'trans', and no-one born with a penis will ever be a woman.

I think that just about sums it up.
Enjoy your lipstick and dresses, but you're not a woman.

PositivelyPERF · 21/03/2018 17:47

WHEN WILL IT END

When enough people realise the reality that you can not change sex, gender is a load of stereotyping crap and women/girls are no longer having their rights eroded. HTH

dworky · 21/03/2018 17:48

Why should I have to hide the entire feminism topic to avoid this shit?

You don't. Simply ignore the thread topics you have no interest in and stop yourself from opening them, as every other reasonable person does. You're welcome.

JellySlice · 21/03/2018 17:54

How is it offensive to say "men in dresses"? That's what many are. They may claim to have the soul/brain/dress-sense of women, they may change their names and throw a hissy-fit if we use the correct pronouns for their sex, but it does not change a thing: XY chromosomes=man. Man in a dress, man in trousers, man in a mankini. Man. Making male demands from a point of male privilege and male aggression.

If a man has such severe dysphoria that the only way he can live at peace with himself is by modifying his body, and he attempts to live peacefully among women, without constantly screaming "Me! Me! Me!", and without demanding that the whole world validates his self-image, and without expecting women to sacrifice their own body-integrity to them, then I'm willing to call him by she. It doesn't change the fact that a TIM is male, but she may not be "a man in a dress" as a matter of courtesy and compassion, not as a right.
