Dog pushed your arm/middle aged moment/too stupid to know whether you're transphobic or not. Who's counting?

thebewilderness · 22/03/2018 16:45

I would fire a "representative" who made such a disparaging comment about me because I related to a comment made by a woman who was treated badly by men in a political party that now embraces "men in dresses" as women.

SmufOrTerf · 22/03/2018 17:47

Me too Perf.
Oh well

PositivelyPERF · 22/03/2018 17:49

Who's counting?

You, obviously. 😘

My post defining * was deleted (even though it was in response to a request asking for the definition of the term) but the subsequent post, which quoted mine in its entirety, remains.

Poor Mumsnet HQ! It must be a right mare, going into one of these contentious threads!

CadyHeron · 22/03/2018 18:27

Oh wow. I've been deleted. I only asked what a sea lion was! Confused

Google is your friend.

SmufOrTerf · 22/03/2018 19:20

I was deleted for admiring Perf's picture.
Made me feel quite young

ChattyLion · 22/03/2018 19:59

Way to undermine a woman in the public eye.. That ‘statement’ is fucking ridiculous. I really hope it was made by someone in the management office and not with the sign off of JKR herself.

There’s literally nothing that is unusual or offensive in that post of a woman’s (quite common it seems) experience of misogyny within Labour Brocialism

YetAnotherSpartacus · 22/03/2018 20:25

Wow, so it's ok to stereotype the 'middle-aged' (tee hee) but not use the phrase 'men in dresses?'

Wow.

thebewilderness · 22/03/2018 21:46

It says it was made by the publicist who is the owner of the firm that represents her. If the journalist is telling the truth with the quotation marks.

I'm surprised at the strength of my own reaction to JK's statement as it's unlike me, but feel slightly thrown under a bus by it

Was it her though? Could quite easily have been a publicist/PR person speaking on behalf of her, as her.
Matthew Wright recently on the Wright Show the other week. Or so it seemed. The Wright Stuff apparently apologised for Anne Hegarty's "you used to be a boy" remark to Paris Lees, and it was a WTF? moment as she had said nothing untruthful so why should they apologise?
Then it came out the reason he wasn't on the telly the next day was because he'd said he'd rather not go on the show at all than apologise for the truth. So wasn't him at all.
Could be the same here.

VladmirsPoutine · 23/03/2018 01:00

It really should be the other way round. I'm frankly disgusted by her back-tracking. But I reckon lining her pockets is more worthy than speaking up on behalf of her sex. Ho-hum. Those castles don't buy themselves. She should fire her spokeswoman with immediate effect but she won't. There isn't any money in morality.

For the people bored of it, try going on Tumblr and see how bored you get of the pro-767890 gender bs.

The other day, I saw a post that was starbucks drinks as genders.

It would seem laughable but most on Tumblr are very young and are growing up thinking you have to pigeonhole yourself into this madness.

Of course most will grow out of it but the more sensitive and weaker ones probably won’t.

OK,you've lost me. Walk me through it lol

ThisIsTheFirstStep · 23/03/2018 01:14

cady It was like demisexual - caramel latte. Greysexual - chocolate chip frap.

Obviously heterosexuals were represented by a dull milky latte.

It was mad.

Was talking about it with a gay male friend who was pretty pissed off that the rights he spent his youth fighting for are now being piggy backed on by idiots who think that not being sexually attracted to someone until you are romantically involved (greysexual? Perhaps?) is in any way comparable to being gay, in terms of discrimination.

Da fuq Grin
Sorry, but I'm obviously too old. Although I'm really not. (Maybe a little bit.)
Just had to google grey sexual and demisexual.
Absolute, total, fucking horseshit BOLLOCKS. (I never usually swear, but jeez, this week is making me crack them all out lol)
If this is the shite that people are hearing now, no wonder there's so much confusion everywhere.
What even is a place between asexual and sexual? You feel it sometimes? Either you are or you aren't!
Read that there's apparently approx 60 genders out there too. Hmm
It's just....world gone mad. But the scary thing is it's being taught in schools as I know someone at uni who peddles the "you're a woman if you're still a man but just in your head think you are a woman" rhetoric.
It's all about the "feelz."

ThisIsTheFirstStep · 23/03/2018 01:39

It’s madness.

I thought we were moving away from ridiculous labels and into a world where we could just be ourselves. No, it’s MORE labels.

I wonder what they’d make of Korea (I live here). Plenty of young boys who wear a bit of make up and girlish clothes - but at the same time, are viewed as extremely masculine.

EVERYONE is genderfluid. EVERYONE has moments of gayness, straightness, asexualness. Why be so desperate to declare it to the world? Just do what you feel like doing ffs.

ThisIsTheFirstStep · 23/03/2018 08:43

beyond I mean, it’s hardly a haven of wonderful gender non-conformity. More like their standards for what is ‘normal’ is different here. It is just normal to try to look good - and for some men, that includes make up.

They are light years behind in terms of equality, however. Being gay is absolutely not a thing and most gay people are still very closeted. Women are expected to be cute/girly/adorable/frail/quiet.

But looking good is not just the preserve of women, which is nice. Very rarely see people dressed in old/scruffy clothes.
