She's trying to recruit J.K.Rowling

Jack Munroe is now a man
OP posts:
doctorcuntybollocks · 21/03/2018 16:44

Jack and Lily sitting in a tree
One of them's nonbinary

(and the other's a wee shite)

expatinscotland · 21/03/2018 16:46

She sounds very unstable and confused.

And no one in the novels transfigured into a dead person.

yetanothertranswoman · 21/03/2018 16:48

Which seems unfair based on one like on one post about misogyny in the Labour Party

Was there anything else in that tweet that could be seen as controversial?

JM is non-binary I think.

JK writes fiction.

Robes are not gender identifying.

NoSquirrels · 21/03/2018 16:51

@yetanotheryranswoman I don’t think there was anything else controversial or offensive in that tweet. I don’t approve of the “men in dresses” line but otherwise it wasn’t very controversial.

ChaosAndPiss · 21/03/2018 16:52

I have no idea who this woman is. Can I get a quick rundown please.

JessicaJonesJacket · 21/03/2018 16:52

Your title has nothing to do with your OP Confused
I think Jack gets flack from all sides and I don't think she's robust enough for any of it.
I'm sure JK can defend herself on Twitter. She has done many times in the past including over the Depp casting, etc.

LyndaSnellsFeet · 21/03/2018 16:53

Don't even understand that.

JM had a twitter flounce about a week ago, she didn't last long did she?!

missmoz · 21/03/2018 16:53

I thought trans meant you had picked one or the other, but no, I have now seen that trans is used to mean anyone who isn't 'cis'. Which is even more confusing than ever before.

It means your gender doesn't align with your sex, so your gender could be male, female, or gender neutral.

dworky · 21/03/2018 16:53

I think as far as JK Rowling probably saw, no.

Popchyk · 21/03/2018 16:54

How does it work to be both transgender and gender neutral?

If transgender is identifying as the opposite sex then where does the gender neutral bit come in? Does Jack, a biological female, identify as a gender neutral man? Therefore transgender, is that it? Or a gender neutral woman, in which case not trans?

Not being snippy, honest. Just find the terms a bit difficult to follow.

LyndaSnellsFeet · 21/03/2018 16:54

Jack's calling out (although not very succinctly or funnily) the 'men in dresses comment', which whatever you views on trans issues, or misogyny in the Labour Party, is an offensive thing to say.

Why? Is it also offensive to say women in dresses?

Ledkr · 21/03/2018 16:54

Booooooooooorrrriing

yetanothertranswoman · 21/03/2018 16:55

It's a very common term used to describe transwomen. Because that's all some people think that transwomen are and why transwomen want to be transwomen.

And something that transsexuals frequently have to explain why it's got fuck all to do with what being transsexual is.

WazFlimFlam · 21/03/2018 16:56

missmozz but can't you see how bollox it is? The word trans comes from transitioning. Not how I feel in the morning. I actually feel the definition is pretty offensive to people who are actually, you know, transsexuals.

Why are trans people always "folk" not people, in trans sympathetic media? Is the word "folk" meant to be emotive? Or is the word "people" banned for some reason? No other group/ people are referred to in that way these days outside fictitious works (magical folk), are they?

yetanothertranswoman · 21/03/2018 16:58

A very common way of describing transwomen - when they say they are trans - is to use 'a bloke in a dress'. Or you're just a bloke who likes dresses.

Speaking as someone who is transsexual, I rarely wear dresses. But that doesn't stop so many comments being made about what people assume I must be like.

Djnoun · 21/03/2018 16:58

@CertainHalfDesertedStreets

Hardly possible when there are ten or so posted every day saying the exact same things ad infinitum.

Don't you get BORED of talking about this EVERY DAY

dworky · 21/03/2018 16:58

Once again trying to prove how full & great her life is - stable people don't feel a need to do that, do they? I hope she does have genuinely supportive people around her.

VladmirsPoutine · 21/03/2018 17:02

Transmen are women in dresses. Even if they choose not to wear dresses that's what they are. They need serious professional help. Not be to upheld and admired for their 'difference' and 'willingness to go against the status quo'. They need help.

TERFragetteCity · 21/03/2018 17:03

Don't you get BORED of talking about this EVERY DAY

Don't you get BORED of coming on and telling us we should be BORED of talking about the erasure of women?

VladmirsPoutine · 21/03/2018 17:03

The ones who are in dire need of help are the ones who adopt made-up terminology like 'non-binary'.
