Torn perineum during sex. Can I have a handhold / hug? Very sore

Exactly that. I had sex at the weekend. Used a condom (Tesco brand and they seemed to go very dry very quickly anyone tempted by the cheaper price compared to durex and mates etc - DONT! they are truly awful and will leave you feeling red raw) added some water based lube and felt much more comfortable. Was a bit sting-y having a wee afterwards. Anyway that night I felt hot, sore throat, feverish. banging headache which has taken days to shift. Immediately booked a covid test (My job brings me into contact with covid cases) so wanted to be careful and make sure. Had the test monday, isolated and tuesday it came back negative.

my privates became more and more swollen and lots of sores which resemble ulcers appeared/ I have had several vaginal births and the pain of being torn and stitched after birth has got nothing on this. Feels like millions of tiny papercuts. Surprisingly no discharge or smell. So i began warm salt baths, I wear cotton underwear anyway as I cant tolerate anything synthetic down there. I got some sudocreme which didnt help at all so got some vagisil (lidocaine for the pain)

Its just got worse and worse. I can barely walk, hardly sit down, its red hot, hard and swollen and gone a green / yellow colour between my vagina and anus and I have ulcers all over. Managed to get a GP appt after 2 days waiting. Was examined as scared it might be herpes. They had difficulty in examining me its so bad and painful but DR said I have a considerable tear in the perineum and a couple of smaller splits / grazes which have sadly become infected. Also have a temperature due to the infection.

Been prescribed 7 days anti biotics , tramadol for pain and paracetomol plus 5% lidocaine instead of the 2% . The tramadol isnt touching the pain at all. tried codeine phosphate and paracetomol before that which also did nothing. I am getting shooting pains deep into my vagina, stinging pains where it feels like someones cutting me with a razor blade and it feels constantly wet and damp (its actually very dry down there but feels damp IYSWIM I am dapping the area when i use the loo and it now looks like a faintly bloody / watery/ dirty dischage on the paper (have to really look at the loo roll to see the change in colour. still no smell thankfully.

Just feeling very sorry for myself and wanted a bit of a virtual hug. I wasnt deliberately hurt, he put several fingers in me which I enjoy but i think with the dry condom and friction from that then fingers has caused it to tear. I didnt even notice at the time . Feel a bit mortfied really.

After this attack make sore your gp gives you some antivirals to have at the signs of a second attack it won’t be as bad as the first bit of you take them as soon as you get the nerve pain it helps a lot.
I really sympathise they thought I had meningitis at first with my first attack as I had awful symptoms

Bleepingpage · 24/01/2021 10:34

Sorry you're still suffering with this, OP. You can become sensitised to lidocaine, so if it's not helping - stop. If this is herpes, antihistamines will do diddly squat.

Have to say I'm a bit concerned about the extent of your symptoms now. I'd advise you to call 111 or your GP's out-of-hours service.

JanieLane · 24/01/2021 10:35

@Feelinglost006 I’m so sorry you’re feeling worse today Sad

It’s bloody awful and my heart truly goes out to you.

My tongue was full of ulcers too, during my experience, from memory I believe it was herpes in my mouth too, so just be aware of that, and I absolutely remember the body aches and pains you’re describing.

I can’t remember how long my symptoms took to clear, I was 16 so a long time ago. I would contact the GUM clinic tomorrow if you have no improvement. Do you still have a temperature?

Until my recent retirement, I was a triage Nurse Consultant.

Your symptoms are worsening and you have blisters occurring in areas other than the genitals, despite oral acyclovir. This does not sound like a "straightforward" attack of genital herpes. I'm not attempting to diagnose you, but herpes can be associated with sepsis and also a condition known as Disseminated Herpes. You need urgent assessment.

Please go to A&E today.

Rosehip10 · 24/01/2021 11:40

Think you should go to a &e OP. And can people stop popping up on the thread without reading and saying "sounds like herpes OP!" When she knows.

HollowTalk · 24/01/2021 11:48

This sounds horrendous. Wouldn't it be far more likely to be from your most recent sexual partner?

bookshop1 · 24/01/2021 12:00

Oh dear I'm so sorry things aren't improving.

When I had my first horrendous attack I didn't put anything on them at all- no lidocaine or creams or anything. Just as much time as possinle with underwear off, and sitting in a bath of plain warm water and gently dabbing dry. It was awful as when the sores burst everything down there sort of sticks together and rips apart. Weeing in a warm bath helps. And painkillers don't really touch the pain.

I agree you should call 111 as your symptoms are worsening despite being on antivirals (and I say this as someone who doesn't usually advise this for any small thing!).

Do not feel embarrassed or ashamed.

StrugglingICUnurse · 24/01/2021 12:03

Oh you poor thing. Sounds horrible. No advice except seek help if you don't feel better soon.

Trumpspeach · 24/01/2021 12:26

Oh my goodness, I really feel for you.

Probably little consolation at the moment but I was diagnosed with Herpes 20 years ago and I last had a (mild) outbreak 14 years ago. It WILL get better.

Floralnomad · 24/01/2021 12:30

@Feelinglost006 see if you can order a Sitz bath on rapid delivery it will make it much easier than running a bath . I’m sorry you are not feeling any better .

Thisisworsethananticpated · 24/01/2021 12:52

Wow sounds like in addition to the herpes your whole body is run down
Have you called nhs 111

The pain is something else , it’s nerves so even with two sores I was coping and you have a shit load

Call 111 op

Assume when you wee you are using the sports bottle spray

The only thing that helps is when they start to heal but sounds like
You are so run down your immune system isn’t healing great

Call 111 for a chat 💬 x

redistributingU · 24/01/2021 13:01

You should go to a and e
I had to be admitted for 3 days when I had my first attack it was scary

Sexnotgender · 24/01/2021 13:05

God that sounds awful. I’d honestly consider taking a trip to A&E, I’d be worried about sepsis. Sounds like you have a raging infection with all your glands up.
What day of antibiotics are you on?

mummytolittledragons · 24/01/2021 13:22

Have you gone to a&e? You could speak to 111 first but I think they would tell you to go to a&e. Do you still have a temp?

midnightstar66 · 24/01/2021 13:38

Going by your updates I do think you need to seek medical advice right now rather than wait tik tomorrow . If it is herpes it could well be secondary as a result of something else going on. You sound very unwell OP. Thanks

Silvercockles · 24/01/2021 13:57

I agree this doesn't sound like a standard first outbreak OP.
For reference my first outbreak of simplex 2 - only sores were on my genitals, I had swollen glands in my groin, and felt a bit shit and pretty miserable. Going to the loo obviously hurt like buggery. But that was pretty much it, I still went to work.
What you have doesn't sound average. Please read the advice from PP especially from BoreOfWhabylon and at least call 111. Better safe than sorry.x

Frouby · 24/01/2021 14:16

Are all the new blisters in one area OP? On one side? Just wondering if it could be shingles making you feel unwell as well as the herpes. I seem to think they are related. I do remember when I was 16 I got oral herpes and was very unwell and the doctor thought at first it could be shingles. I got blisters around my eyes, nose, mouth, tongue and cheek as well as my chin. It was very painful and I felt horrendously ill.

Nanny2many · 24/01/2021 14:18

Herpes or allergy to condom?

TokyoSushi · 24/01/2021 14:22

How are you getting on now OP? I'd agree with others that you might need to seek further help Flowers

mondaywine · 24/01/2021 14:38

I am allergic to lidocaine. Only found out when I had an injection for nausea and had a huge reaction at the injection site. Developed huge, aching lump. Worth checking the lidocaine isn’t making you worse.

Donann · 24/01/2021 14:47

How are you now OP ? Did you call 111? Thanks

caringcarer · 24/01/2021 14:58

You did the right thing going to GUM clinic. You do sound very run down and might be better to take whole of next week off from work and next weekend too. If you rest and follow all medical advise chances are you will feel better then. Get someone to drop off groceries for you or do an online shop. Walking will cause more friction and it will take longer to heal. Hope you feel better soon.

LoveMySituation · 24/01/2021 15:16

Op, hope you feel better soon, sounds beyond awful. I've had this, a long time ago, and after the initial one(which happened during pregnancy) I've not had many more outbreaks. There's an amino acid called lysine which inhibits the virus, eating foods rich in lysine helps prevent attacks, or I took it as a supplement from Holland and Barrett, and not eating foods that have arginine in( which the virus needs in order to replicate itself) will help, but sounds like you need to rest and recover first before anything else

Haggisfish · 24/01/2021 15:30

I agree that you should
Go to a and e to be checked over.

MistyMinge2 · 24/01/2021 15:49

Just reading your updates. Sounds horrendous. I really feel for you. Really hope you get some relief from it soon.
