Morning all.
New thread for weigh in Friday.
Old one taking forever to load.

Was SO bad last night. Fancied a glass of Rose wine so bought a nice bottle thinking DH would have it with me. He didn't. I had it all. Whole bottle. Dinner was actually fine - steak, a sausage, salad and a piece of halloumi. But then I had a mini magnum. And then drunken hunger kicked in when DH and DS had gone to bed. Had a packet crisps. A cheese sandwich . And another sodding magnum .

However. The good news is that I weighed and still managed to lose. Only a pound but at least i lost.

Hello all,

Mind if I join you? I have been on a couple of threads but they have fizzled out.

I am the type of person who needs gentle encouragement / kick up the arse because I do well for a while and then go onto self destruct. I do exercise at the gym but can use this as an excuse to stuff my face.

So what is this "zone" you talk about?

Thanks

QualityTime · 29/06/2010 20:06

Naughty Budaisabigfatblob, holiday is no excuse

Come on in tibni, gentle encouragement is a little in short supply on here but we will happily kick you up the arse
What are you hoping to lose? what are your stats now?

We are all doing different things to lose, I stopped eating bread, pasta, rice and potatoes and replaced them with massive salads and stir frys, so far have lost 25lb in about 10 weeks.

The 'zone' is a mystical place when you can happily turn down shit/not eat it and be as healthy and active as you can.
I am not there today, had a burger for lunch, which would have been fine had I just had a salad with it, but I wanted the burger bun and cheese and relish as I was still freaking out about my interview. Bad Quality.

tibni · 29/06/2010 21:12

25lb - wow, well done QualityTime.

I know of this zone - I visit it often in the day, however I find a calling to its neighbour the Zone of the fridge, especially in the late afternoon.

I grew up as the skinny kid and never have been really overweight in the conventional sense, however since my ds 10lb 8oz 9 years ago I have struggled. I am 5 7 1/2 and currently weigh approx 66/67kg (about 10 7/8) so in my normal BMI range but above the middle point. I have been upto a stone heavier than this. I exercise at least 3 times a week at the gym but had started coasting so I am now doing less chatting and more running. I would like to be approx 10 stone but most importantly be able to maintain it - that is my real challenge.

I have 2 older dc, my dd is 11 and my ds is 9, he has severe ASD, learning difficulties and challenging behaviour so find it a strain to find time to look after myself. Food is often the first thing to suffer.

Oh and im tough and can take (and need) a kick in the arse when I slack! So weigh in day is Fridays? Anything else I need to know?

QualityTime · 29/06/2010 21:39

No, the fridge is not a zone, it's a siren. luring us with it's promise of guilt free snacks, but it never delivers

tibni · 29/06/2010 21:49

So oatcakes and salad I can admit to but not pinching my daughters tablet sweet when I had a sugar craving - I think I get it! I have ran 3km and cross trained 25mins then did weights (have just increased what I am lifting). Yes writing will def work for me!

I have a part time casual contract in a school which I love, and fits around the dc. I have applied for another job but not heard anything yet, it is hard to find work around dc. I also have an out of hours emergency call out position for social services so I stay busy!

When is your interview? What type of work do you do? Good luck for your interview.

QualityTime · 29/06/2010 21:53

I am sahm atm, on a career break from a government call centre (thrillsville, so not going back)
interview is friday morning, thanks!

Went for a run earlier but couldn't find my headphones and my tracker thing on my phone is fucked so I was not doing well, adn then I got a STITCH! I never get stitches, am so cross, walked a bit and it wouldn't feck off so only did 2 miles,, its bloody hot though so am blaming it on that!

naughty tablet sweet...

I have been so distracted today I made tea for the others and forgot to make some for myself, doh, had an apple and some mini cheddars. mayeb wil have a banana in a bit, how exciting I am.

tibni · 29/06/2010 22:02

I need music to run - and have it far too loud, my 11yr old "cool" dd tells me off! Today my friend was at the gym - ex army. ex commando trained and I ran with him so wouldn't give up!

looneymum · 30/06/2010 10:35

Good morning ladies. Am desperately trying to remember how I managed to lose weight in the first place so I can try to get truly in the zone. Unfortunately, my main memory of weight loss plan is of tosser adultering ex husband leaving me with two small DSs... a great appetite supressant!

I think when I did start to eat properly again, I tried to just have a little of everything and tried not to cut stuff out. Anything to do with "missing out" seems to lead to an inevitable binge!

The other thing I try to do each day or when I can fit it in is 20 mins of leg/bot exercises. I put on loud music and do each exercise for the length one track - makes for a red hot burning arse if you are doing leg lifts! I finish off with arm weights to try to keep dimply wobble syndrome at bay!

I still struggle with portion control though and sometimes start with great intentions before it goes tits up!

Have a good biff free day!
x

dinkystinky · 30/06/2010 11:00

Morning all.

Buda - stop biffing or you'll have to change your name to Biffa! Come on you can do it.

Tibni - welcome to the thread. Sounds like your life is v hectic - well done for squeezing some exercise in.

Quality - hope your next run is better. I find I get stitches or cramp if I havent had enough water to drink before running (esp when its hot). Good luck for your interview.

DastardlyandSmugly · 30/06/2010 13:48

Day 2 was a little easier. I look a total muppet as don't know where my hand weights are so am using tins of beans.

Undertone · 30/06/2010 16:12

HELLO EVERYONE!

You can tell who's being naughty on this thread, as they don't post for ages... here comes an essay-length catch up. Well done everyone - I've just ordered shred from Amazon because it looks to be ace from what you guys say.

Well - the last couple of weeks have been a blistering arse pain at work. Combine this with lots of post-work and weekend drinky-poos and it has been a recipe for disaster re: Zoning.

However - not last Friday but the Friday before - I was 14 stone on the nose. This Monday I was 13 stone 13.8lbs. I managed to be a huge wobbling biffer and still lose 0.2 pounds! It's depressing to have 'wasted' two weeks by plateauing, but at least the damage was minimal. And anyway - 'biffing' these days means having the odd additional cheeky sandwich and packet of crisps, rather than a full-blown curry like I used to before starting this whole debacle.

I'm still on 3 weetabix with skimmed milk, salad (lettuce/tom/cott cheese/lean meat) for lunch, 2 apples, another salad (or just meat and broccoli/asparagus) for dinner, plus 2 squares dark choc.

I'm still really bad at finding time/inclination to exercise. I'm wondering if, with a calorie intake at around the 1,200 mark daily, whether I'm not eating enough to give myself energy to work out? Should I eat more in the day? But then - what if I eat more and something happens at work which means I have to stay late and I can't work out? Do you think it's the heat making me feel tired (I'm in London - v hot constantly), and when it cools a bit I'll feel like working out again?

Next milestone is holiday with parents and brother to France from August 26. Would like to go from size 16 top/16-18 bottom to 14 top/16 bottom by then. At a rough guess this would mean losing another 10 pounds or so, I reckon. 8 weeks to do it in.

I NEED HELP. Come on zoners!

QualityTime · 30/06/2010 18:36

Oh looney, that sounds shit, well done for keeping it up. I find portion control is an issue for me, I make humunguous salads and stir fries and have loads fo protein but no carbs, that way portion control is not an issue.

Under, 3 weetabix? seriously?!
Heat is killing my will to exercise I think, it doesn't cool down in teh evening and I am just bushed by then. Is good shred is only short so by the time dehydration is about to set in you have finished

dastardly, it does get easier, i was taking a day off a week though, every day means i can't pick up dd's after awhile!

DH is mega stressed at work adn I am mega stressed about interview so snarfed a pack of mini cheddars earlier, and a slice of bread and a sausage. scrambled eggs on one slice toast for tea and will do some exercise after dd's have gone to bed as DH is on late tonight.
I shoudl go for run tomorrow but I have to pack for my mums and prepare for my interview, all on friday, so tomorrow I can't really spare an hour...plus I want to take my running stuff and don't want to take it sweaty so might just do easy stretch dvd instead, it's entirely possible dd2 wont go to nursery anyway as she looks awful today.

This weekend DH and I are off to festival of speed sans kids, first day out in years without them, so am very excited. and then we are going to convince my mum to babysit whiel we go to the cinema. I anticipate uber biffage but will try and be good. Can't take healthy food to goodwood as we are going on the bike now I am svelte enough not to crush it, and we can onyl manage a small rucksack

BudaisintheZONE · 30/06/2010 19:55

Hi guys. Biffage today - ZERO.

Went into town and bought a couple of tops and 2 pairs of shoes. I think my feet are slimmer!

Bit crap once home as Dad home from hosp apt with urologist. Needs biopsy. Suspected prostrate cancer. And also needs endoscopy to rule out bowel cancer. Which his mum died of. He had a quadruple bypass in Jan and is doing really well. Doc did some routine bloods and results are low low low iron and high high high PSA which is marker for prostrate cancer. Shit.

Then I tried to cook a lovely healthy chicken casserole and it was a disaster. Barely edible. Watery and tomatoey but bland.

Need wine tonight.

Quality - good luck with interview. Hope it goes well for you.

QualityTime · 30/06/2010 21:07

Oh buda, am so sorry, that's shitty news, well done on non-biffage in the face of that as well.
Wine is not included on my 'naughty things' list, life is too short

Undertone · 30/06/2010 21:11

QT - 3 bix only 196 calories. ner.

and good luck with interview!

Undertone · 30/06/2010 21:12

Buda - best wishes to your dad.

QualityTime · 30/06/2010 21:18

Ah, but 2 would be 130...so doubler ner

tibni · 30/06/2010 21:18

Buda - sending lots of positive thoughts for your dad. Well done for not taking comfort in food.

QualityTime - hope the next couple of days go ok, you sound very busy! Enjoy the festival.

undertone - keep going, think about your holiday.

dinkystinky - thanks for the welcome.

Knowing I was going to post about today has certainly helped keep me on track.
Breakfast - Oats with a splash of Maple Syrup
Lunch Cottage cheese Salad, Dinner Veg Quiche, new pots, veg (did have a couple of frozen potato product - fritter things - as didn't have many new pots in and didn't want Salad again.)

No gym today as it was a long day at work. Tomorrow will be hitting the gym as im off in the day but on call evening/night.

dinkystinky · 30/06/2010 21:27

Oh Buda - am so sorry to hear about your dad. Fingers crossed they've caught it really early (one good thing about the bypass, they're keeping a close eye on him - my dad had a quadruple bypass 5 years ago so know how it feels to have had a parent go through it) - DH has got quite a few colleagues who have prostrate cancer and because it was caught early they've responded really well to treatment. Well done on trying for the healthy dinner - enjoy your wine tonight.

QT - have got bored of shred and started interspersing with the Hannah Waterman Blitz dvd to mix things up abit. Another good intervals work out. Though may get bored of both of them and revert to Davina and Taebo in the not too distant future.

Undertone - - GET BACK INTO THE ZONE YOU BIFFER! YES YOU LOST 0.2LBS WHILE BIFFING BUT JUST THINK HOW MUCH MORE YOU'D HAVE LOST WITHOUT THE BIFFING. I think the key with exercise is to find something you really enjoy and then book into time into your diary to actually do the exercise - so if you've got work things/social things in the evening you know you need to exercise in the morning or at lunch time - and then stick to that appointment religiously! Are you a member of a gym or are you going it alone with exercise? I actually think its easier to exercise if you're a member of the gym as you make an effort to get there and when you're there you've psyched yourself up to exercise - doing a dvd at home is so much harder as you dont get the pre-workout psych up. If you want to lose inches and drop dress size by your holiday, Shred DVD or similar will work - but you have to force yourself to do it regularly and also push yourself to the max while doing it.

dinkystinky · 30/06/2010 21:29

Forgot to say, QT - sounds like you and DH will have a fab time at the festival!

Undertone · 30/06/2010 22:19

thanks for the boot up the jacksie, dinky. am going it alone with exercise. Am verrrry tempted by joining gym. Let's see how DVD goes! grrrr! motivation!

Aitch · 30/06/2010 22:27

MamaG · 01/07/2010 06:17

no idea what we are eatng today, there is some chikcne in the fridge so probably that.

Undertone · 01/07/2010 09:20

Wooo. I went shopping after work last night and tried on this dress from Marks in an 18. Waaaay to big, so I am sitting at work in a size 16. Hurray!

I am also wearing big control pants, but that's more for VPL than actually being a factor in doing the zip up.

A slim little belt on my waist, big sunglasses and a cardi to cover up my pieces of butcher's meat upper arms. Je suis tres chic!
