Morning all.
New thread for weigh in Friday.
Old one taking forever to load.

Was SO bad last night. Fancied a glass of Rose wine so bought a nice bottle thinking DH would have it with me. He didn't. I had it all. Whole bottle. Dinner was actually fine - steak, a sausage, salad and a piece of halloumi. But then I had a mini magnum. And then drunken hunger kicked in when DH and DS had gone to bed. Had a packet crisps. A cheese sandwich . And another sodding magnum .

However. The good news is that I weighed and still managed to lose. Only a pound but at least i lost.

oops lose not use LOL

BudaisintheZONE · 09/08/2010 11:07

Hi Undertone!

No advise about your foot but rest is usually recommended for injury. Wonder what you did?

Hi mamadiva - welcome! No gains allowed. Only losses. Says she glossing over the fact that I reckon I have gained back almost all of the 21 pounds I had lost! We are hardcore so be warned. No 'there there, you've had a bad day and deserved that muffin' here. We will tell you off. Lots of motivation though. And lots of great support. Are you following any particular diet plan?

Undertone · 09/08/2010 12:51

Hi mamadiva - welcome to our thread of NO MERCY!

The ultimate objective is to attain 'The Zone' - a state where one can be confronted with a pile of cake (or suchlike) and be able to smugly refuse it. 'The Zone' also involves a fundamental change of mindset along the lines of 'lettuce! hooray!'

I think it's a bit mor ecomplicated than that, actually, but I am guerilla MNing at work, so can't elaborate at length for fear of discovery...

tibni · 09/08/2010 19:38

Hi Buda - i'm on holiday so the next weigh in will be telling. Are you intending to give yourself a week or be brave and weigh?

Undertone - hope the foot is soon better.

mamadiva - welcome along. Do you have a target weight / have you decided how you intend to lose the weight.

Well im on holiday. Went for a run along the sea front this morning. Knowing my normal speed I would guess I covered 3.5/ 4km and have done 150 tricep dips throughout the day. I use a treadmill run rather than road so it was very different - the sea "breeze" almost knocked me over. Eating well but not going mad. dd had a hot donut but I wasn't even tempted. Bought oats for breakfast and oat savory biscuits for lunches to help keep me on the straight and narrow. Really enjoyed the cherry ice cream after dinner - well I am on my holidays Grin

Pisces · 09/08/2010 19:48

Hi Tibni Grin

Hello ladies, I too would like to join, I think it is about time I pulled my finger out and got motivated.

I would like to start by losing one stone and then to reaccess. I think I have almost two stone overall to lose.

I ordered The Shred after reading about it on here but it has not yet arrived so fingers crossed it will tomorrow.

Hey ho, starting weight is 12st 7lbs and I am 5ft 9" tall.

dinkystinky · 09/08/2010 19:56

Evening all. Welcome Newbies - good zonehunting - and welcome back Buda.

Undertone - get to a doctor and get that foot checked out! Much better to make sure it isnt anything terrible than end up out of action for several weeks. And well done on your 5.5 mile run - great stuff! Am trying to psych myself up to go for a run tomorrow (am at MILs - have biffed alot over the past couple of days with no exercise to make up for the calorie overload so have to get some exercise in) so will use you as my inspiration.

Glad you're having a great holiday Tibni and you had a good one Buda.

tibni · 09/08/2010 20:13

Hello Pisces Grin; great to see you! 1 stone is a realistic initial target.

dinky - think about the advantages of the run; will get you out the house (or is that just me and my MIL?)

Undertone · 09/08/2010 20:38

Weeelll... even though the bruise is more visible now it really has stopped hurting. I did cross-trainer for 30 mins this evening (last 15 mins did various arms exercises with 2.5kg weights instead of pulling handles) instead of high-impact run/shred. Will see how it is tomorrow and stick to x-trainer/swimming this week, maybe?? But you're right - the thought of not being able to do any exercise AT ALL does give me pause.

LOL at tibni's 'breeze'. I HATE wind. Much more than I hate rain, for example. Is that odd?

Dinky - Ilythia gave me a good tip - downloading Google Earth and accurately plotting your route means you can be v precise about the length of your run - something new to try which may give you a little extra push out the door?

Or we could just be mean, a la Sue, and say PUT DOWN THE BUN, GET YER TRAINERS ON, AND BLARDY GO FOR A RUN!

cybilliberty · 09/08/2010 21:41

Hello all!

Thought I woudl pop back in and say HI

How are we all doing? PISCES you are the same height as me...I lost about a stone doing this. IT WORKS- I am now between 10 1/2 and 11 stone give or take a bit.

Have been in Portugal for 2 weeks so ate my self stupid but don't seem to have gained?Perhaps it will show later

Check in and say HI!

cybilliberty · 09/08/2010 21:41

OOH and Su is doing a sept diet via TWITTER

HArdcore

dinkystinky · 09/08/2010 21:44

Hi Cyb - nice to see you back on and lol at the Su september diet.

Undertone - glad your foot is feeling better. If still hurting though do get it checked it out at the GPs - better safe than sorry and on your arse not being able to exercise.

mamadiva · 09/08/2010 22:02

I need to lose about 7 stone in total Blush but I am happy to break it down into 7lb targets which makes it seem more attainable IYKWIM.

I really don't know which way to go with regards to diet plans, at the moment I want to just cut out the crap and cut down my portions and see where that takes me because that seems to be my biggest problem and I want something I can stick to long term.

Excercise wise I really do need to get my big-ass in gear :o. I do 10 minutes moderate paced walking on my steeper thingy and am going to start swimming once a week next week just starting off simple basically then I will build up to more.

So do we just weigh in on a Friday then and add our weights and losses?

BudaisintheZONE · 10/08/2010 08:18

OMG!!!!! I braved the scales. I only gained a kilo! 2.2 lbs! Thought it was at least half a stone. Pleased with that result. I did NOT hold back!

Hi Cyb!!! Nice to see you again. Tell Cyb to get her ass over here for her diet not bloody Twitter!

mamadiva - I had minimum 6 stone to lose. Started at 16 st 10, now weigh 15st 5. I just cut out crap. Nothing made with flour or sugar cuts out a LOT of crap. No pasta, rice or potatoes either. Lots of good healthy protein, veg, fruit and pulses/beans. Felt great on it too.

We weigh in on a Friday and post losses then.

Hi dinky!

Right. Need to get moving. We are getting our new puppy today! I must be mad.

OP posts:
tibni · 10/08/2010 13:10

Buda - good news that you only made a small gain. Puppy will soon help you lose that - my lab is now 1 yr old but the first few weeks I couldn't sit down, it was like potty training all over again! Grin What type of pup are you getting.

Hi Cyb - good to see you.

mamadiva - you sound like you have a sensible approach - mad diets just don't work long term - its the Zone we all need with good eating and sensible exercise.

Ilythia - just wanted to say hello and thinking of you.

Pisces - well? How you doing?

Well managed to go for my second run of the holiday and did even better than yesterday - for someone who has only ever treadmill ran I am getting a real kick out of my morning runs down the seafront. Mind you there was even more of a "breeze" this morning and I think I can class the run as resistance work as well!

BudaisintheZONE · 10/08/2010 14:59

Cyb - excuse typo in prev post! I meant tell Su to get her ass over here!

tibni - We got a black lab. Already have a 16 month old yellow lab. Both girls. Well done on the run! I have done nothing for weeks. Planning on getting back into walking dog till school goes back and doing Shred also. Then once school goes back will start Couch to 5K while weather still nice here and then gym 3 days a week once winter sets in. All with walking dogs every day too.

OP posts:
cybilliberty · 10/08/2010 16:05

some of this is blatently obvious but some is good advice Ignore the schmalzty ending

Undertone · 10/08/2010 22:29

Ugh! Cripes! Why do all people advising about healthy eating on TV look like Skeletor from He-Man? Gillian McKeith was always a wrong-lookin 'un, but then she's a charlatan as well. Double whammy.

I was almost entirely fixated on this lady's teeth, but some of the stuff she was talking about rang a bell. Especially the 'eat as if people are watching'. Blush about some of my epic lonely binges in the past. I would have died if anyone had seen me.

V exciting about puppy - I am NUTS about labs!

Foot felt fine today, so did a 4km circuit of park. Still seeing progress on not having to stop and puff so much.

It's odd - I mean I'm 30lb down with 40 to go, but I still seem to be fixating on the same wobbly bits as I used to when I looked in the mirror. Still feel bad about my arms and saddlebags. How's everyone else feeling when they look in the mirror?

Welcome again, new meat zoners. This thread is awesome and it will help you a lot.

Pisces · 10/08/2010 23:32

Don't ask me how I managed it but I am 2lbs up on yesterday Confused I think it must be the wine/food from a bbq on Sunday that had not caught up with me yesterday morning when I weighed myself. My Shred dvd has still not arrived so that is my excuse for not exercising (yet) and I have been busy doing lots of work. I took all my measurements this morning as well so I will be able to see if I have lost inches in a few weeks time. I hope to build up muscle and tone my body with the Shred. Tibni is a RL friend so I have to explain myself to her otherwise she will beat me... Truth be told, we only manage to meet up 2/3 times a year and next time I want to look as slim as she does Grin.

I'm also, if I am totally honest, very depressed but that if life/work for you. I want to lose the weight and this morning I was full of vim and vigour but tonight after a Board meeting, I am feeling quite low and that is my dangerous time - too much comfort food and alcohol.

But hey, tomorrow is another day and I WILL LOSE THIS WEIGHT.

dinkystinky · 11/08/2010 09:29

Ooh congrats on new puppy Buda - what are you calling the puppy?

Mamadiva - your approach sounds v sensible. Also, everytime you hit a 7lb milestone, give yourself a little treat (non-food related) - will spur you on to greater weight loss.

Undertone - glad your foot is feeling better and that you did a run ok. Dont fixate on the wobbly bits - do your measurements and you will actually see on paper how you're shrinking. I still have bits of my body that arent particularly how I'd like them to be - my lower stomach and upper thighs in particular - but know that they are shrinking in size (not taking measurements -just listening to my trousers Grin) And if you can join a gym, take up weight training/body pump along with all that running and you'll see massive changes in your shape.

Pisces - do not, I repeat, do not weigh daily. It will just knock your confidence. You can vary by as much as 3 lbs from day to day depending on all kinds of stuff. If you knkow you will binge at a particular time, make sure you plan something to do then. If you're in because of childcare, stick an exercise dvd on. IF Shred hasnt arrived yet, stick music on and do a circuit in your living room or garden - 1 minute of jumping jacks, one minute of squats with arm raises in front, one minute of press ups, one minute of crunches - repeat 3 times. Or paint your nails - as you cant biff with wet nails. Drink a litre of water before you even think of eating - the water will help fill you up, flush out toxins from your body and help with weight loss. And dont keep your danger foods in the house - like Ilythia buy biscuits for kids you dont like etc - so you're not tempted. YOU WILL LOSE THE WEIGHT YOU WANT TO LOSE - KEEP THE FAITH.

Pisces · 11/08/2010 10:28

Thank you DinkyStinky, that was a lovely message to read.

My dvd has arrived! So I hope to look at that later this afternoon.

I DO want to lose the weight so I will keep on going, might take me a few days to get into the Zone but I am determined that this extra weight will be coming off.

DukesOfTripHazard · 11/08/2010 16:45

Hello. I am checking in as overeating and going to bed very full and have been since holiday. Have put on 3lbs and keen to get back to goal.

Thanks for Janine (refuse to write foolish spelling) Cyb, I needed reminding about 4/5 not up to 10 full.

Keep on everyone! Undertone, I am staggered by how you've revved up the exercise, it's brilliant, brilliant.

BudaisintheZONE · 12/08/2010 07:13

Morning all. A bit of a blip yesterday in returning to the zone. It was our 15th wedding anniversary so DH cooked a Thai green chicken curry for dinner and DS made brownies. I had 2. Been good otherwise. Although no exercise. Am about to remedy that with walking dog number 1. Dog number 2 is called Tara but I think we should rename her Pickle! She is a bit of a one! I think she will be more of a chewer than our other dog!

Hi Dukes - good to see you again.

Cyb - I haven't managed to watch that clip. All I could focus on was her hair! Hasn't she heard of volumising products?!

Pisces - you can do it. It took a long time to put the weight on so it will take time to get it off. And I seem to remember that losing slowly means less lose skin afterwards. That's what I am hoping anyway! In the past I have wanted to start a diet and lose it all immediately. Of course then I get fed up and binge. This is a change in how I eat. This is me doing more exercise as I feel better and have more energy. Of course with all this I will lose weight. But knowing I am eating so much more healthy and feel so much better is nearly as much of an incentive as the weight loss tbh.

Joby1970 · 12/08/2010 08:20

Hi Guys - can I join this thread too? I'm also on the Shredthread with Undertone (waves). I've been told off @ work for talking about exercising & diet all the time - been told that I sound "preachy" so thought that at least I could talk to you gys about it!!

Undertone · 12/08/2010 11:15

Buda - Pickles is a lovely name for a pup! Tara is lovely too - but I think ripped, blonde surfer Australian dude-ette when I hear 'Tara'... dunno why!

Dukes - I did a pact of the devil uber-zoning 2-week thing with Dinky doing a bit of exercise every day and the habit has just stuck. I've only had one day off exercise since 26 July. I HATE Shred level 2, so I've been really bad and only done it every few days or so in between (much more fun) runs and (less fun but low impact) x-trainer. Can't wait to get to level 3.

Joby - I also have the fear I'm boring colleagues and family rigid about dieting/exercise! The thing is, the only way I can stay focused and in 'the zone' is, for this year or so, to become utterly, utterly selfish and dedicated to this one thing; almost to the level of obsession. If it becomes 'what I do', then it is so much easier to settle into a rhythm and set of habits which sustain a healthy, gradual weight loss. Rather than going at it slap-dash and emotionally charged - if you see what I mean?

Joby1970 · 12/08/2010 12:34

Undertone - totally understand - but my boss ACTUALLY told me I was being preachy Blush - I just think they can't stand the truth lol.

my background: would still like to lose a bit more weight but not too fussed as like figure at the mo. What I really want to do is at least maintain as I have been up & down the same old 3-4 stone over the past 16 years!

I tend to have branflakes for breakfast with skimmed milk (to big a serving too).
Lunch is mixed salad with feta & seeds. Evening: meat & veg & pots. snacks are yogs & fruit. occasional biscuit & wine at weekends (occasionally in week too).

Excercise wise - occasional shred. but mostly gym
Mon - body pump
Tues - Box fit
Wed - off (tho at the mo doing a boot camp thing for 6 weeks & hating it)
Thurs - Boxfit
Fri - Pilates
Sat - off
Sun - off

Phew.
