Hi, I have started the Dukan Diet. Managed to get thru day 1. Anyone else trying it? What do you think ?

PS for everyone who gets depressed when the scales don't move (including self)

Why the scales lie

saltcod · 18/09/2010 16:36

Londonlottie the shred isn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be - googled so many tales of people aching for days, barely able to move. But saw so many impressive before & after pics I thought I'd risk it! I was a bit sore after day 1 but nothing much. By day 3 I was already finding it much easier. Did day 5 today & completed it all ok, bar a few arm raises.

Have been good today foodwise - omelette for breakfast then 3 dukan muffins & a slice of turkey for lunch. Tonight I'm going to treat myself to some crispy shredded duck from the chinese, minus the pancakes. Probably a bit fatty from M. Dukan's point of view but I need something yummy! Half heartedly thinking about starting my jogging tonight too... we'll see!

zippy539 · 18/09/2010 20:48

Thanks for the support ladies - I appreciate it. :) I think those of you who have said that Dukan is tough for non-meat eaters are on the money so I'm conceding defeat.

I've decide to go back to the ww regime - which (perversely) I enjoy. But I'm going to take some Dukan habits with me - I'm still going to have the oatbran everyday plus I'm going to keep doing one PP day a week. Weirdly once I'd made the decision last night (over a takeaway and a bottle of wine Blush) I got up this morning and had a Dukan brekkie and lunch!

eeeee gads....

I looked at the website...won't be signing up there then.

Think I'm going okay so far, although I did snaffle a couple of bits of pasta off my daughter's plate, just to check it was cooked...honest, even though she'd already finished eating!!!!

saltcod · 19/09/2010 20:35

Londonlottie they were on a site that Moonshine recommended [http://www.minimins.com/dukan-diet/150962-dukan-recipe-thread.html here]

I made savoury ones with ham & cheese in the middle & lemon ones using lemon juice & sweetener. The savoury ones were fab, especially if you're missing bread. Great for taking to work for lunch. The only downside is it uses your daily oatbran allowance which meant no oatbran porridge for brekkie for me :(

Had a so-so day today - oatbran porridge, then garlic chicken, 1 slice of nimble bread (7g carb so not too bad) with pate & chicken tikka with lettce & a few sugar free biscuits. Very very tempted by the choc caramel slices but just about managed to resist.

Did a 4 - 5 mile walk today so will skip the shred dvd (any excuse!)

AspieGirl · 19/09/2010 22:32

Would it be really naughty of me to have an extra bowl of porridge? I'm starvin'

:)

Hi all - another bad weekend for me!! Brekkie and Lunch were all ok but dinners involved Chinese takeaway, and then out for a meal last night (mash potato included)! Add a few glasses of wine to that and Sad. Interestingly though, despite not eating as much as I would have and drinking less too - I went to bed feeling sick and bloated yesterday, has given me the incentive to stay off the mash for a while yet! Well done to the rest of you for sticking with it. I'm starting again today.

SnowieBear · 20/09/2010 12:29

Hi all - haven't been around for a while, but been keeping the diet up, and somehow now towards the end the weight loss has speeded up again (well, when I say speeded, I mean the scales are finally going down!). I am 3lbs from my target weight, which means I've lost a huge 2st 2lbs since starting the diet on 12 July.

I do wonder how long it'll take me to shift these last three pounds... and what happens then? You see the magic numbers flash up on the screen of your scales and woo hoo! move onto the next phase right away? Wait for a day?

Very scared about the prospect of moving on to the next phase soon, but I guess I'll have to put my faith in Monsieur Dukan knowing exactly what he is talking about - he's done well with me so far!

robin3 · 20/09/2010 12:52

Been reading through and so impressed by the results and the willpower. I've been doing the gi diet for a few weeks now and fancied applying this for a few weeks to avoid the inevitable plateau that you have on any diet and in a desperate attempt to not see saw back (as I always do).

I cant bear to be the owner of yet another diet book as I already have them all. So can anyone just help me out on the proteins?
Yoghurt (Muller Light?) No fat and no carbs?
Tinned oily fish (can that be mackerel in tomato/oil or just plain?)
Marinated prawns/chicken...does it have to have no carbs as everything seems to have a little?
Cottage cheese with no fat? Is there such a thing?

Thank you.

I have just got through Day 1 of the Attack Phase.... found it kinda ok - although i had a real slump at about 14.30 and nearly fell asleep at my desk!

I've also drunk about 5 litres of water today - which i know is too much... but all the chicken and dairylea light triangles just made me so thirsty.

I am going to try not to weigh myself until at least Thursday... not sure if i'll make it though...

Loved reading everyones success stories on here - am hoping that by joining in your conversations... i'll be able to stay motivated. :)

Just marking my place on thread so that it doesn't fall off my "threads I'm on".

Nothing to report.

Except maybe the scoffing of two chocolate eclairs in front of Spooks last night...

Please could someone turn the wagon round and come and pick me up as I seem to have fallen off it...

KermitPants · 21/09/2010 19:17

Apparently I lost 2.75lbs on day one... i'm not too sure that I believe that!

moonshine · 21/09/2010 19:18

Well, I had resolved not to do Dukan fully because it was sooo boring and I lost so slowly but, weirdly, I find I have been automatically snacking on protein mostly and the last 2 evenings have chosen to eat a plate full of protein Confused. And although I only put on just over a pound (well ok close to 2lbs) when I jumped off the wagon, I haven't lost it so perhaps I will come back for a bit to get rid of some more pounds [hauls herself back on wagon and holds out a helping hand to Katisha].

So, want to join me in a challenge - 3lbs off by next Monday (or is that over-optimistic?).

moonshine · 21/09/2010 19:20

Kermit - large losses are more than possible and in the first few days (although it is mostly water/glycogen store losses, but hey you have to start somewhere....)

KermitPants · 21/09/2010 19:32

Moonshine - i'm intrigued to find out what tomorrow holds for me! Had another ok day today... still very thirsty - another 5litres of fluids today. Walked for 6 miles today too... may as well make the most of the sunshine.

Woke up this morning at 5.37am! Just had to get up and have a weigh in... lol.. (blush) Hope the enthusiasm lasts! Looking forward to the second stage starting on Saturday so that i can have some veggies! :)

KermitPants · 22/09/2010 05:59

Only lost 1/4lb on day two... :(

PandaBear · 22/09/2010 07:58

Kermit - 1/4lb is still a loss. I'm still avoiding the scales after my weekend failures. Maybe tomorrow though.

Oh dear, bad couple of days - gave in to the caramel shortbread and the fish & chips :(

Was on the verge of giving up but woke up today resolving to carry on so back on attack today. Trying out the cottage cheese/egg fake "quiche" - should be ready in a few mins. Hope it's good - I'm starving!

TOTM due soon so avoiding the scales at the mo. Hope everyone else doing better than me. Need to stuff the kids with the remaining caramel shortbread so I'm not tempted again - they'll be thrilled anyway!

Katisha · 22/09/2010 13:43

Thanks. Off we go again!

insertexpletive · 22/09/2010 15:06

Hello all

Just checking in to see how everyone is doing. Welcome to all newbies.

Consolidation is going well - in as much as I have not put any weight back on Grin

I am finding it difficult to stay motivated though and have had a couple of 'can't be arsed' days where I have eaten too much of what I should not... Blush I have been able to kick pull myself back on track by being strict the following day and keeping an eye on the scales - the thought of undoing all my hard work is too much to even contemplate.
